E-TacReg First Results
Finally got my stuff together and had enough air left in my scba to fill my new 53 ci tank.
2500psi output JDS reg and E-TacReg.
JSB Kings 25.5gr-24″ BSA barrel.
Very first string with 2800psi fill-
998 983 977 973 969 975 975 974 967 965 966 965 962 967 965 953 958 947 948. 19 shots,first 2 unusable. Not bad, but not as tight as I’d like. But remember, this is the very first string off a brand new reg.
2nd string with 2900psi fill-
983 979 973 971 971 978 969 977 972 975 969 975 968 967 974 974 973 969 963 968 958 952 947. 23 shots.Definately needs first shot off to clear from filling. Much tighter. Very pleased with this string considering its only the 2nd 😀
Ran out of light and air. I’m hoping the string will get tighter still as the reg ‘beds in’
Pleased so far……. I need to put another 500 pellets through it before I can give a more detail review. The gauge on the JDS reg is shockingly inaccurate 😯 It says 2500 when the pressure is 2900….

Those numbers look great ! I would not be surprised to see them tighten up even more after a couple of tins of pellets . Also the larger fps variation of the first shot seems to diminish after several hundred rounds . Your 53 ci bottle appears to get 3 or 4 more shots than my 48 ci . How is the longer LOP working out ?
I don’t think people are going to realize just how accurate this rig is untill they try it .
No poi change at 50 at all, could probably shoot it down to 930s and still be good.

Dang Pab that’s real nice! At 100 those last two might be off but I bet at 50 there isn’t much POI change?

First string
979,964,974,969,969,969,963,969,962,969,968,967,971,968,969,967,969,962,967,969,967,968,969,972,968,969,962,958,953. Off reg for last 2 shots. Ending psi was of course 2500psi from a 3000 psi fill.
27 SHOTS!!!! This equates to 18 psi per shot!!
Second string threw up pretty much exactly the same numbers.
I just can’t ask for tighter than that! Its doing everything I hope for so far, right speeds, tighter than a tight thing, and if I pop in an extra 50psi, I’ll have my 30 shots as well!! 😎

hey my daft af system sucks the best lol. ya langs stuff looks nice. i was reading some of his posts while i was research valve info. that’s a nice regulated shot count!!! glad to hear it everyone is taking vacations. im headed to north carolina next saturday for a week of beach fun!!!

Just got back from holiday and I haven’t had a chance to fill to the full 3000 and play with the tophat(its at the factory setting of 4ft 😆 so I need to turn that down some, I’m sure its wasting air) I really wanted to leave it at the factory setting as a lot of you guys seem to have some prolems with the thing drifting about, crushing stems etc. I’ve always used a Blod or Lang valve so I’ve never had to dick about with the daft AF system.

You got lucky.
I personally use Mat’s (ExpertHPA) gauges on the E-TaC. still haven’t found them any better than the McMaster, Myth, etc.
I wish to God that they would be spot on, but you have to go to a larger, graded, gauge to expect consistent, quality results. However, they are too large and triple the price of the ones we use.

My gauge on my ExpertHPA reg is spot on as much as I can read.
A 3000psi fill and it is on the 3, when the gauge drops to the 2 (Ive got a 2000psi reg) and I go to fill it back up, Smack bang on 2000psi

The pressure gauge is on the bottle, not the low pressure (regulated) side.
I wish there was a more accurate gauge in this size range. I’ve tried about 4 different mfg and they are all the same, they read about 400psi short.

Looking good pabs. What’s your estimated shot count with the 53 ci tank? Also if the gauge is on the reg shouldn’t it report 2500psi?

Thanks for posting numbers. It’s good to hear from the end user.
The regs do settle down after several groups. There are a lot of moving parts inside them and they all have to wear-in a little. They do require lube on the belleville washer stack so a touch of FP10 will help. There is a lot of surface area touching when they flex. Don’t forget the silicone on the urethane o-rings either.
PLEASE make sure your tophat is tight!!!! Dave is 1G% right, that will mess the string up like nobody’s business.
As I posted on the AFB reg thread, I recommend upping the PW and decreasing the tophat for the best consistency. Adjust the tophat until you get the velocity you want, then lower the PW until it starts to show. I think you will find that the tophat does not have to be very far out at all. The consistent opening and closing cycle (distance and time) of the tophat will make for very consistent strings as noticed by the SD of 4.5 for 51 shots.

Filled my tank to 3000 about an hour ago and all was well. Then, just sitting here in front of the PC and the 3k blowoff just went!!?? 😯 That woke me up a bit!
I seem to remember SSS having the same thing happen to him?
Jim is 100% so I know he will sort it out, but I’m to thinking I might just get a solid bung in there. I’m a big boy and feel safe enough to fill to the correct level…
