Q:

Edgun Leshiy .25cal super tune

Ive spent a bit of time on my new Leshiy this week and have refined it to my liking..
While the 350mm barrels and shroud extensions are available for higher velocities I wanted to keep mine compact and light as it was designed to be.. this comes with the compromise of the shorter 250mm barrel which produces lower velocities or less shot count.

This is the typical performance you can expect from a .25cal Leshiy with 25.4gr kings:

250mm barrel: 12-13 shots at 760fps
350mm barrel kit: 12-13 shots at 810fps

Thats not bad but I devised a plan to get a little more from mine without the long extension and also make it quieter than the std Leshiy…

25.4gr JSB kings get 18 shots at 800fps 36ftlbs!

Want more speed? 6 shots at 925fps 48lbs

Want more shots? 25 shots at 700fps

Want 12ftlbs? 39 shots at 460fps 11.9fps

Want a better trigger with a predictable break? … Yea me too… give me some more time on that one…

The same tune in a .22 or .177cal will be just as impressive..
All this performance in this short little setup..

I will explain the mods in a tuning video soon…

So… when the afternarket parts will be available for sale?

This is well done mod. However for me that trigger works damn good, just as it is. And it’s way too advanced for me. If I hear ‘welding’ and ‘hardenng’ – man, I’m just a guy with a hammer and pliers 😉

Ok, Im finally done modifying my Leshiy, the trigger was last on my list and Im happy with it new state.
I just couldnt get used to the trigger it came with as I tune all my PCPs with a very short 1-2mm light first stage and a 10 to 12oz break.
Not having any direct feel of where the Leshiy trigger breaks added by the fact the break position changes depending on cocking consistency and whether you operated the safety catch at all I was finding myself snatching the trigger to try and get a quick break so I could get close to where my brain and eye registered a bulls eye. However I got many pulled shots as you saw in my hunting vid and when put on paper there was a disturbing consistency of groups in lateral lines pointing at bad trigger control.
I can say that I did lose sleep over this one and I lay awake a couple of nights pondering how I could customise this trigger in such a way that it would work for me just like all my other pcps.
After many strip downs, measure ups followed by a day at work staring into space with the drawing of the leshiy trigger mechanism in my head I got home and got surgical on it…

Nice Morini! Different animal for very different purpose but supernice!

that’s ..a . thanks !

Are u kiddingme man ……… I pest withthat or it’s a $2k paper weight but some say it’s not fair though …… sparrows hate me !

The electronic trigger sear release speed is said to be faster then a mechanical one by x thousands of a second. Thing about it, some say and believe it SEEMS to break even before the actual shot does. True story ……..

yah …. know all about that, studied and train it for years.

IMO, a predictable trigger break and a surprise trigger or shot release are two different things/events.
You have to at least know where it starts and with my friends Lesh it felt like it was changing/not occurring at the same exact location every time.

If u have placed your trigger finger on the right place on the trigger blade it wouldn’t help or matter.
It will push or pull the shot, POI will be to the left or right no matter if u apply world class shooting technique.

The equation of a great shot consist of (=) the gun with it’s mechanical elements with (+) the addition of the human one.

Spongy ……….

I surely wouldn’t want that trigger on my $2k Morini 162ei ….. that I used in the Nationals to try and enter into the USA Olympics in Atlanta 1996.

If so, why all the soup up mod with Edguns and all the questions that are trigger related included the one in this tread also ?

Predictable trigger break produce tighter groups ……..

Well… actually not. Google “surprise trigger break” (sharpshooters’ technique) or just take a look at this article linked below, which is all about trigger work. Leshi’s trigger is very clever and with correct shooting technique can increase accuracy vs standard 2-stage ‘anticipated trigger break’ technique. Especially for off-hand shooting the surprise break causes major accuracy increase.

Trigger Control

That’s why Wingman’s trigger tune will be well appreciated

Pulled the trigger on my friends out of box Leshiy and it’s a long first stage (really hate it) with an unpredictable sear break with no apparent second stage (hate it) ?
Different from my new R3M with an initial drag only on the first take up on the first stage, but after released there after it’s smooth with a predictable second stage and break.

I fix my Matadors first take up, now it’s as good as my Crickets.

Basically pull it until it goes BANG?

Yep, that’s how mine is stock

How would you guys rate the trigger on the Leshiy say relative to the Matador? Same feel or lack-thereof? Basically pull it until it goes BANG?

I just ordered a Huma reg from Edgun West for mine in .22. I also gave a friend a old airforce barrel in .25 to turn down so I can use it in my Leshiy. I will report how that turns out. The trigger is different on the Leshiy but easy to get used to for me.

just wait till you see how I fixed the spongy trigger..

Can’t wait!

Cool Beans !! .. . to be honest .. .. it’s one of those things … but it’s the most important …. that’s holding me back from buying/getting one.

I’m a trigger man and always will be …. and that finger in question demands a good trigger ……. be awaiting your tunes Sir.

Thanks Greg..
just wait till you see how I fixed the spongy trigger..
I now have a 2 stage with a light short 1mm travel that stops and breaks 11 ounces.. the trigger over travel screw does just that, stops the over travel after the trigger breaks and the safety catch actually functions correctly and the gun wont discharge if the trigger is pulled while it is on safe then moved to fire..
