EXPERT AIR ???
I bought two 3000 psi bottles from Expert air, one was regulated for 1200and the other for 2000.
I was under the impression that I could fill those bottles that say 3000 psi to say,….3000 psi.
maybe I was wrong , but I thought the whole idea is to get regulated shots from a 3000 psi bottle.
well, I went to fill them for the first time today off my scuba tank that was just filled .
The first bottle regulated for 1200 psi blew something at about 1500 psi
the second blew at at about 22-2300 psi .
causeing a tiny cut on the side of my face. 👿
Did I do something wrong, or are the tanks screwed up??

I figure hold over didn’t mention how he filled them because he didn’t realize it mattered. If he had of realized he wouldn’t have done it….
Not an effort at concealment and he did say in the first post that he was only posting here to get to try and pin down a cause before he called up expert HPA.
I know where your coming from Walt, have seen that before several times in real life and on forums – guys who are “my XXXX doesnt work, what happened”.. then when you get the entire story its been attacked by surface grinder’s and vice grips… But I don’t think that was the case here.

I was being as honest and as descriptive as I can.
I dont build or rebuild valves , I dont know jack shit about valves .
Im a shooter, not a machineist , Im Just asking about what went wrong and why.
I have some further questions but Im not going to bother posting it on here .
Well Holder you post a question that in all its context looks like you got a couple shit tanks. You never come back and fill in the details and so all is just guessing. Two of us guessed correctly in the end and there was zero wrong with the tanks. So unless you are straight about how you were attempting to fill those tanks how the hell are we to give decent help?
In the end it appears the story comes out so all is good.

You mean PHYSICALLY able to fill the tank however I (And I think others) were taking it as Trying to fill the tank.
Seeing as though we all agree then not much point arguing

Firstly you explain that he must have filled it the wrong way by using the AF fill adapter, and then go on to say the there is no other way to fill it. Also you feel that there is no need for a sticky to tell people the correct way to fill the tank and stop them doing what Hold Over did.
Not having a go but expressing my thoughts.

attempting to fill with Airforce adapter is the wrong way
filling through the fill nipple which is the correct and ‘ONLY’way to fill
is not contradicting myself 🙂

I guess it is a problem here with AF users familiar with the bassackwards fill method for AF tanks. Yes a sticky would be great.

Saying “there’s no other way” doesnt help as much as a sticky showing the ONLY way to prevent them trying other incorrect methods to fill.
Just because the other ways are incorrect, doesnt stop people trying it and blowing a burst disk or this post and randy’s experience wouldnt have happened.

Could there somethere he a sticky about propper filling when using a paintball regulator or any other tank. Like, if there is a way to fill it when it arrives, then use it and no other method

I didnt know anything about blowing disks with them .
It looks like that may have been the problem.
I dont remember seeing any directions on how to fill or not fill , but it was a while ago and I honestly couldnt say for sure.

It is now apparent that filling a tank is not intuitive.
Fill using the fill nipple when provided
Know your air tank, a regulator = a check valve so you CANNOT reverse flow.
If you do not know what you are doing, ASK someone, ASK here.
Have someone show you what to do.
When you have trouble provide the honest truth of what you have done
help comes easiest when there is no guesswork.
Train your buddies

how much info did you need ? I filled the tanks from my scuba tanks
I would have mentioned the airforce adaptor but I figured it was was a given ,
when someone asked I said “”yes it was my airforce adaptor””
I thought it was pretty clear.
