EXPERT AIR ???
I bought two 3000 psi bottles from Expert air, one was regulated for 1200and the other for 2000.
I was under the impression that I could fill those bottles that say 3000 psi to say,….3000 psi.
maybe I was wrong , but I thought the whole idea is to get regulated shots from a 3000 psi bottle.
well, I went to fill them for the first time today off my scuba tank that was just filled .
The first bottle regulated for 1200 psi blew something at about 1500 psi
the second blew at at about 22-2300 psi .
causeing a tiny cut on the side of my face. 👿
Did I do something wrong, or are the tanks screwed up??

They both blew a few hundred ponds over the reg pressure… 😕 I would ASSume that the co2 discs would both burst at the same pressure… Unless there are different burst discs…
I’d call ExpertAir, funny there were no instructions… To me that would be a cya (cover your ass) type of thing for just the thing that happened to you. Sort of like the Self valve, damn thing breaks early but it came with a full page of instructions and warnings… 😕
why would anyone need instructions for a paintball tank?
you hook up the air source and fill to the 3,000psi th etank is rated at.
it is done a million times without incident so either Holder is doing it wrong
as in trying to fill backwards Airforce style or he has a dirty air supply to cause both tanks to fail the same way. most remote possibility is the tanks have leaking regulators.
Still see no reason for instructions and the Selph instructions were a joke.
So no liability is assumed with giving someone a high pressure vessel without instructions with custom bits stuck on the end… 😕
Sounds like a great way to lose your ass in America… I bet I could find a lawyer that would sue if I was to be seriously injured… I don’t think it’s right but it happens everyday in this country… 😉

What custom bits? it is a tank with a regulator. I call bullshit on the requirement for directions for use. You go into any paintball shop, buy a HPA tank with reg and you will NOT get instructions as they presume you know your ass from a hole in the ground and so sell it to you.
Trip and fall lawyers are scum of the earth and so do not determine what is ‘right’ Holdover has done something wrong and so must accept personal responsibility for his actions.
I’m still betting he is filling it bassackwards most likely through an Airforce tank adapter.

Are you filling through the foster fil nipple or through (What Im guessing) the AF co2 adapter.
If you are filling through the AF adapter, The burst disks will fail because they will be rated to just over the regulated pressure.
The cut you got was probably from a piece of the burst disk of something similar.

I have 4 tanks from Expert HPA and have had no issues with them. Are we talking about the same place? You said Expert Air….. but I’m assuming you mean from here:

were you filling at the foster fitting?
if so then the regs have failed either to dirt or broken bits.

I oredered these months ago, I never used them because I was waiting for a chrony..still waiting.
But I thought Id see how the shots were on them .
If it were to hit you in the eyeball it would have been a different story entirely…
But I wasn’t making a big deal out of the cut, just a bit odd that there were no instructions or fill warnings. Even more so since you explained everything to him before you ordered… 😕
It’s now more work for him, but he did make a sale, but if he has to replace the discs and reship the items I don’t see this being a profitable venture. Unless he knew the proposed fill pressure was too high and just needed to make a sale. 😕

I wound’nt make something out of the cut, its like a shaveing cut , no big deal,
but I was upset about the tanks, I explained what they for and how I was going to use them .

Ok, I thought maybe I was missing something.
I would think the same as you… fill with 3000 psi and regulated down to whatever amount.
Maybe he put a CO2 burst disk in the bottle side instead of HPA.

Hmm, it’s possible to fill it backwards and fuck it up… Bad air can fuck it up…
Sounds like it needs fill directions… Or are no new paintballers allowed into the sport because they have no experience and since instructions are out of the question, wtf?
