Finally getting a .257 build started!
I contacted R&L and Mike at citrusairguns about barrels hammers and springs for the 257. Both can get me close to what I want. Has anyone dealt with either before? Is there anyone else that will machine the parts I need?

Yep, Need to add, Prayers from Manuela and I both!

Ditto what Old Goat says! :dito:
Praying for your full recovery. Take care of yourself .
Hey Roach: I really hate to hear that also!
I will put you in my prayers and I hope that you can find treatments that will save the your sight, or possibly get you back to normal sight in your good eye.
Hang in there buddy!
Dayum RC! I hate to hear it Buddy! 🙁
Thanks again Roachcreek for all the info and helping me out since I been into this airgun madness. I really do wish you well and no matter stay strong! I was almost broke earlier today but now I’m really broke from buying your tank. I bought a 4500 tank for the .257. This gun is going to be sick! Raymond
Looks like I will not be building a 257, or doing any other air gun shooting. Most likely sell the rest of my air gun stuff, which is only that 4500 Dman tank and a AirHog Pygmy tank.
I lost the sight in my left eye in 94 during a migraine, at the time described as a Ocular Vein Occlusion but these days described as Wet Macular Degeneration, four days ago at the beginning of a migraine the right one started to go. My son who works in the ER was certain I was having a stroke, but having been through this before and fearing for over two decades the other shoe would drop sometime, I knew better.
The reading spot is disappearing in the center, so far I can see to write on the computer as long as I turn my head to the side and put the text at 125% or better. It is like a migraine aura on steroids, at the worst it is best described as a huge star burst in the middle of my vision, at the best it is holes or blind spots in my vision and things in a cloudy jumble.
My next drivers license renewal I am screwed, right now oncoming traffic seems to “pop out of nothingness at about 300 feet on a clear day when at it’s worse, so I am getting the wife ready for her drivers test as soon as I can.
Evidently it is Macular Degeneration, either wet or dry, I will find out this week, it has been coming on for about two years now, but had in the past only lasted about ten minutes before clearing up, it has been my greatest fear for 20 years after loosing the left eye.
Hopefully I be able to see archery pins against a elk once the damage stabilizes, I still can see them now, horse sized animals at a max of 35 to 45 yards are easier than 12 oz pop cans at several hundred yards. If not a Mathews fully equipped compound bow that I have not even taken possession of yet, will be on Ebay in a few months.
An old friend says this getting old is not for sissies, but I have had a good run, got to see some great sights in the last few months and I have a woman with the sweetest of sweet dispositions who is stunningly beautiful and if I was totally blind, she still would be . And the good news is it is only my acute eyesight that it bothers, I still am in great shape for hiking and other more worldly pursuits. 😛
Valve, spring, Hogue grip and hammer arrived today. The hammer wont work unless i have a new insert installed that fits the TJ barrel because its for a LW barrel. Hopefully Ill be able to get one of Dougs hammers soon. I paid for barrel and shroud already so as soon as Mike Kobel receives the frame everything will be ready to be installed. All I need now is super sear and a wokguard 15. If anyone has either they are not using and would be willing to sell please let me know. This project is taking me broke fast. Raymond
Damned Shilllll!!!!
Got to Love these things Doug R! 😀 😀

Now enough of that already, my chores are not finished yet for this week and I gotta go shooting tomorrow !!!!!

No, I am not cocking with the hammer or have had any milling done to my receiver for sidecocking with the hammer. I am sure that I likely would be much better off but I am going to see how long I can get away without. I dont want to mill the receiver because I like the idea of the Airforce being multiconfigurable and would like the option to reassemble the frame back into other configurations using rather stock parts. Also the integrity of the frame has been questioned. Does the removal compromise the strength of the frame. Of course the Wokguard surely would help this and also Dyotat has done some pretty trick add on plates of armour to this area in the form of a breech shield. It looks like a pretty darn good idea. Especially from an added safety standpoint. Wouldnt want any failure of the breech to blast high pressure air or worse into your face! I suppose really more so than anything else I just simply want to go and do some shooting and less dicking around than I have time to at the moment! I love projecting, but right now I just wanna have immediate shooting satisfaction. I do know that I have a need and really want to change out to bigger and heavier duty spring, and asap! …. Then I will really see if I have to indeed go with an alternative cocking type of design….and if so, it will more than likely be Doug’s handiwork. I have no mill and am still working on building up my skills as a hobby machinist. I remain hopeful that I can get Doug to schedule me in for an appoint when the time comes!
That is very cool that you are able to have him work on yours too! He does an outstanding job and is very reasonable for what you end up with when he is done. I keep saying that I believe that this is really the way of the future for recreational shooting sports. I believe we are on the forefront of something really badass! There has been some great contributors from right here where we are just hanging out. It is very bitchin’ that we can come aboard and just shoot the shit, and carry on like we do on here. There’s been a fair share of the movers and shakers,,, right here on this thread alone. A great group of some great people, all very unpretentous and stand up gentlemen! It would also appear to me that Doug has made some pretty respectable contributions to the general overall advancement of bigbore air rifles and some major advancement in this community for the conversion of the Airforce platform as a major high powered pnuematic ballistic alternative to firearms…. The Haley Scandalous .257 has become commonly recognized and even legendary! Tofazfou has coined the term TalonDor in reference to his Dyotat built Condor Valve and Talon hybrid,,, that nickname has been growing in popularity too. Certainly Cedrics grand work at promoting, documenting and educating the ever increasing high power, pneumatic bullet, shooters’ movement doesnt hurt!
I believe it is oppropriate that I have come to refer to the high power .257 Airforce Condor styled pneumatic bullet beast that I own as my “Dyotat .257”
Who the hell knows maybe someday my Dyotat might even become a worthy collectors item!!! ❓ ❗ ❗ :fishinghole:
Dougrup does your hammer have the cocking arm on it? Red condor spin lock old style trigger arrived finally. Waiting on mold to be done and valve, hammers to arrive so I can have it shipped off to have barrel and shroud installed. Thanks for every ones info on this project! Raymond
Tank and assorted parts are in the mail as of yesterday morning!! Hope you enjoy!
I have one of dyotats hammers. I think it is 100 grams. We had problems using it with the big spring in the newer style trigger. But I think that I probably have it smoothed out and just need to get the bigger spring installed into my current frame. If it doesnt work then I have the old style frame shipping just in case! I have been getting all kinds of goodies arriving in the mail lately. Notably my new chrony arrived this week. I just gotta quit messing around and finish my chores so I can free up the time to go shooting!!! I say I am going to make the time friday. I better get it on!!!!!!
Thats badass Dougrup mine should be here tomorrow and then it gets sent away to have barrel and shroud installed. I see you bought a Dyotat Valve spring and 4500 psi tank. I was too late on that deal. I would of bought asap. What kind of hammer you going to use?
