Q:

Finally getting a .257 build started!

I contacted R&L and Mike at citrusairguns about barrels hammers and springs for the 257. Both can get me close to what I want. Has anyone dealt with either before? Is there anyone else that will machine the parts I need?

Thanks for the advice Cedric. I talked to Knife about ordering molds and milling them down I cant wait. Im waiting on calls back about molds now. All you guys info and videos has been a huge help to me. I have the 100 gram barrel riding hammer, new Hogue grip and the condor frame being shipped now. As soon as everything arrives I will be sending it to Mike Kobel at Citrusairguns to have 1-14 twist 21 inch threaded barrel and a shroud installed. All I need now is the right size spring and a Dyotat valve when ever he has some free time!

Knife which one you think shoots better or a toss up?

Tofaz, we had a 3 fires around here already, it’s a fire box. Now, I just heard, on the news, 21 intentional fires started.

Hey Cedric!

He and I already talked about milling down an NOE and or Lyman for him. 😉

Well, with a 21″ barrel, i would definitely opt for the LYMAN 257420 mold. That’s about as light as you can get right now for off the shelf molds. Anything else, you would have to have CUSTOM made.

I just bought a red condor frame old trigger assembly with the spin lock brand new $303.00. Next I need .257 barrel. Im looking for something around 21 inches and threaded. I’ll have to figure out which mold would be best? Ill be shooting the lighter grain bullets. Im also found somewhere to get a 100 gram barrel riding hammer for 35.00 bucks at http://www.airforcemodification.com. Does anyone know what size spring to get and where? Right now I have a stock valve with a pcptunes one piece tophat on one tank and a TT One piece on the other tank. Any advice greatly appreciated! Raymond

Sweet thanks for the info Knife! That’s probably the size Ill end up getting then. Cant wait. The guy Mike from Citrus airguns has any one delt with him before?

Mine is the 21″ bbl. and it does very very well! Its the 1-14 twist. Which works very well until you get into the 100+ grain bullets. And those take a lot of air to get up to decent speed.

Thanks. Could I use the same hammer and spring I have now with the 257? Any preference on which one to get barrel from? Mike said any size he could machine what ever I needed and install a shroud similar to the one you build me before but I don’t know of anyone that has dealt with him. I also have a 30 cal thunder beast 8 inch can on its way I was going to possibly try as he would thread the barrel also. If I went with a 21″ 257 would that work okay? It would help me out getting into the place I shoot because it would fit in a bigger book bag if I removed the tank and shroud. I don’t need extreme power just something that will buck the wind better then pellets and be accurate. Any advice on twist of barrels and whether the shorter barrel should have a different twist then the longer one?

You will be right where you are now. If you go with the 27″ barrel you will pick up a little fps from the extra length. Your gun makes decent power right now.
