Freedom 8 – air compressor
Do you guys use this product? I’ve heard it works alright, but does it last? Anything that is on for 8-12 hours straight has to have duty cycle concerns. I appreciate your feedback and alternatives for about the same price.

Thanks F&D..I’ll check that out.
Here you go. Best deal on best working dryer that you can find.
This is the one I have on my Freedom 8 and its AWESOME!
Princeton Princess – whatever it takes. 😆 I forgot the name of that Canadian store. They dryer works great. BTW – the pellets are good for a lot longer with our very limited usage.
Out of stock…of coarse.
Oh….he said Princeton Auto. Thanks!
Hey Coda
I can’t find that air dryer. How about a link?
When I first started I used a pancake compressor with desiccant filter but when I bled the line I had a lot of moisture. Joe B has a hpa outline filter but it costs $450 plus shipping. So when I had called welding shops to see about getting a 6500psi tank(before getting the shoebox)they quoted me on some different sizes of tanks. The 6500psi tank would costs almost a grand a year. Well they have 2000psi tanks for around $220. Add a $140 regulator and $17 for the fill I’m right at $400. So I opted for that instead of the output filter. It’s a 76cuft tank at 2000psi filling a 71cuft carbon fiber tank at 4500psi. First fill takes it all. I let it go down to around 3000psi to refill. Last months, but I only shoot a couple days a week. I own a Cricket and an Airwolf and I can get several fills each before having to refill the cf tank. It’s $17 to refill the n2 tank, actually they just give me a different tank that had been filled.
No you don’t have to degas. I thought the same thing but was schooled on N2 being inert it doesn’t matter if it’s mixed with regular compressed air. Aside from being dry using N2 I don’t think it has a huge advantage over using compressed air. I saw some data and the differences were slight.
$70 is the way to go. I was interested in using nitrogen as well, but completely nitrogen and just bypass the shoebox altogether. At my business I get weekly deliveries of CO2 and Helium. It would be no big deal to add Nitrogen to that list. Just haven’t found out prices yet….but after bangs post, I think it may not be feasible.
Air is 78% nitrogen anyways….don’t think it will matter either way.
When switching a rifle from HPA to nitrogen do you have to completely degas the rifle before using the nitrogen or can you just start topping off with the nitrogen? I would imagine to get the full benifits of the nitrogen you would want to degas first.
The greater majority of the moisture will stay in the pancake compressor tank but you still want a good desiccant filter on the line and not just the Harbor Freight disposables which load up with moisture rather quickly. Filter was $70 Princeton Automotive.

Wow bang. Interesting. You don’t use an air compressor to provide 125lbs pressure to the sbf8? How long does that nitrogen last? I take it that’s a bottle that you get refilled at Airgas? How much was it to get started and how much on refills?

I have a Fredom8 coming from AOA at this time, I am studying the desiccant driers and such so I can use it at home. I have the option of filling at work where I have nearly unlimited Nitrogen available but want to be independent at home. Can some one give opinion on the Wilkerson mentioned above -vs- the one from princess auto.
