Hammer fix

Lately I’ve noticed with 25 Vulcan the 40-50 and beyond yard shots where not slam dunk anymore. Well this morning after a horrendous outing I figured I’d better look into it.
I whipped out chronograph and viola the answer was clear. First it was shooting 880-990 to start off with. Last time I checked it was 930 or so. So I took your the hammer screw and was able to move velocity around but not consistent at all. Extreme spread was 25 and then some. My 80 yard groups showed it too. So I took it apart but had to reverse drill out two of the screws holding the side plate. (thanks Zonk for the 2 spares you sent me) I took hammer out and wiped it clean. Then I noticed the one end where trigger catches hammer was sharp. So I smoothed out the edges using a drill to spin hammer and taking some cloth to the edge.

While I had it apart I figured I might try to do something with hammer spring too

I put it to the test through chrony and settled for 920 with es of 2 with 20 shots tethered to my tank. Major improvement to say the least.
I went and did a accuracy test and it puts 3 pellets through a hole not much bigger than the pellet at 50 yards.
I’m so happy to have my Vulcan back to its usual self.
The piece on the spring is a rubber grommet that you use to insulate a hole to pull wires through. I can’t hear the spring at all. Problem is my gun got louder. Lol

Dear Sniveling, Shrivel-Dicked, Haters….

I want to put it in a .25 Vulcan. I recently read the .25 Vulcan does not use this part?

This is of little concern to me…it WILL use it after I am done!

It has been said “Old age, and treachery, shall overcome all obstetrics!” We shall see….we shall see!

I just want to tell you folks that everything I said about Ernest is 100% not true,100%. I have been a very bad Ratso. The truth is-is that Ernest is not really that old, he is really not that angry, he is really not that blind, he really doesn’t have a bad shot. He is very smart and doesn’t drink as much as I told you he did, and his lathe is not operated by foot and the truth is he didn’t really widdle my derlin bushing by hand. Is that ok h00t did I say all the things you wanted me to say. I recieved a threatening letter today from Ernests Lawyer :hoot: reminding me that lying about Ernest is going to land me in court if I don’t stop.

Ernie, you magnificent fool : Do you sell those Delrin thingies to anyone or just to the Uncle ?? If you do and if you have other bits for the Vulcan then i´m interrested in buying them. Now. I want to tinker with my Gun since it haven´t been used for a good while and may feel left aside.

Ernest can’t even find the door must be his kid spinning that lathe peddle that fast. Zonk, you know Ernest is always helping folks out when they are in a jam, send him your glasses.

Hoot may not live that long Ernest, you should have sent it next day air…….

Good idea eelect, I may see what’s out in the barn laying around.

Zonk…

If you find one that fits, let me know the inside diameter. I’m waiting for Ernest’s delrin brass thingee replacer to arrive before I take mine apart and do all this polishing and cleaning.

Hoot:

Here’s your Delrin HOOT, I’ll send as soon as I get it out of pulse!

Joking! anyway I sent that last week, let me know when you get it.

Will do Hoot

Ernest is almost as old as you :hoot: you old f00L it could take several months before he cranks out anything. I saw his lathe it’s like some thing out of the Flinstones he operates it with his feet like a potters wheel. He widdled my derlin bushing by hand with a carving knife honestly great work a master craftsmen. He can’t shoot for shit unless it’s your target he’s shooting at or your crow decoy but he sure as hell can weild a knife it’s uncanny.

I had to trim the outer portion of grommet. So you can experiment with different kinds. Mine is pretty tight around spring and doesn’t seem to want to go anywhere

I would say it’s the cheapest easy to do mod out there to quiet the spring sound. Another thing I noticed is cocking gun is quieter too. You can cock or load pellet with cricket and would not hear a thing. Vulcan without rubber mod is loud but not as silent as cricket after the mod but much better

did the rubber grommet, help out in the sound?
