I’m Stepping Away from BullPups !
I love the concept of the gun, great for packing and carrying on a single point sling.
I’ve owned, hunted, shot several pups in the past few years, and tested, shot, handled a few more.
I’ve come to the conclusion the the Pup isn’t for me, reason why ?
…..scope height, the bullpup design just don’t aloud you to get the scope as close to the bore as a rifle does, and in my type of hunting where shot distance is always an unknown and there’s not much time to play with mildots the excessive height of the scope is detrimental.
In the end I can achieve the same degree of packability with a folding or detachable stock rifle, and a carbine is just as comfortable in a single point sling.
so in the future I’ll concentrate on carbines with either a detachable or folding stock for tough hunts and the normal wood stock rifles for blind/hide hunts.
Guess my next project will be to make one of the said stocks for my MAX-ML .45 bull pup ;D ;D ;D

This is what I was hunting with yesterday, I joy to carry and made 3 very difficult shots at 3 different ranges whithin minutes
I can put that stock on all my Rainstorms regardless of Caliber
Manny a Rainstorm 357 is looking you in the eye. There is no better gun out there for your type of hunting. Go for it!

Your right I was just giving an idea. To be honest I am also looking into a original style rifle for better accuracy (group size). The bullpup design is not as good as a long rifle at long range accuracy. Just to clarify it is easier to hold smaller groups with a long rifle then it is with a bullpup design. (MY PERSONAL OPINION)

But I’m hoping they have realized their design flaw and are changing directions to introduce a knock out carbine with an innovative new folding stock.
I’ll keep my Vulcan but would appreciate them becoming more affordable due to market driven competition.
Those rings are stupid, ……my scope is 2′ from the top of the shroud to the center of the optics just like you Vulcan I guess.

Soon I am going to make a sticker that fits on the inside of the scope flip up cap so that when in use it is right infront of you. The sticker is going to have a picture of the reticle with the yards marked on the pellets complete flight path. It will be marked at half mils, bottom of mil dot, center of mil dot, and top of mil dot, qoing up and down in the flight curve. So that I will not have to do any calculations everything will be done already. :biggrinn:
other then that I have strelok for angles and windage :biggrinn:
you guys just don’t get it, for your applications it’s fine and I can do the calculation too, is that when you are on the jungle floor trying to take a shot at a wild boar things are slightly different, much different cup of tea.

Every BullPup has the scope significantly higher than rifles, the russians do a good job with the magazines loading from the top but still they can’t get the scope as low as you can get it on rifles,…period
To minimize the time between calculations I set up my scope so that the very top of the curve of my pellet is just below the top notch on my reticle, which happens to be 18-35yds (4.5=18yds-4.68=25yds-4.49=35yds).with 25 yards being the very top of the curve. My zero is 100 yards and just past my last notch (5mils) is 150 yards

I’ll go out on a limb here and I’m guessing your use of Pups is vastly different than my :winkn: :winkn:

Never said Pups are no good, always said, “for my application there’s more disadvantages than advantages”,……..I’m not a target shooter nor I snipe critters from my bedroom window, my hunting is significantly different from the vast majority of airgunners, and it’s not like I picked up a bullpup and 2 weeks later I discarded it, I hunted and got a lot of critters with them for years now, and after all that time I’ve come to my final conclusion.

That is exactly why I make sure I put “in my case” or “for my type of Hunting” or something long those lines in my posts
I think Manny likes to switch out the fleet once in a while like I do. Normally, I keep the pick of the litter though.

There is a lot of difference between the max and Vulcan. Looks like the ace you have to put your cheek is higher and although the stock butt looks really nice, it looks to high also. Is that the bolt way back there by your cheek ❓ di you have to hand it off to be cocked while you grab another rifle ❓
I have ted for many years but mw .22 Vulcan has a 1″ kill zone from 15 to 53 yards.
