I’m Stepping Away from BullPups !
I love the concept of the gun, great for packing and carrying on a single point sling.
I’ve owned, hunted, shot several pups in the past few years, and tested, shot, handled a few more.
I’ve come to the conclusion the the Pup isn’t for me, reason why ?
…..scope height, the bullpup design just don’t aloud you to get the scope as close to the bore as a rifle does, and in my type of hunting where shot distance is always an unknown and there’s not much time to play with mildots the excessive height of the scope is detrimental.
In the end I can achieve the same degree of packability with a folding or detachable stock rifle, and a carbine is just as comfortable in a single point sling.
so in the future I’ll concentrate on carbines with either a detachable or folding stock for tough hunts and the normal wood stock rifles for blind/hide hunts.
Guess my next project will be to make one of the said stocks for my MAX-ML .45 bull pup ;D ;D ;D

If that’s what turns you on fine but your reasoning make zero sense.
But I don’t have a common shot, to much to calculate in the heat of a hunt when a Porker shows up and there’s not much time and much stuff in your head.
Done years of hunting with both pups and rifles, more disadvantages than advantages with the pups.
with a rifle I’m golden, good to go, get the crosshair on the spot and pull the trigger.

Oh that’s an easy fix. Just add or subtract MOA as needed to your rail to get the proper sight alignment for your most common shot. No need to throw the baby out with the bathwater.
If I’m sighted in at 25 yards and i have to take a 10 yards shot it’s way low, if I have to take a 40 yards shot is way high.
with a rifle and the scope close to the bore in those cases I’m still spot on.
Could you explain in further detail how the scope height / bore axis effects your shooting?
Yep – the deer guns I am studying fall out of the true BP too. Wish we had more hogs here although I am in the minority. 😯

That Vulcan is the current top of the BP food chain IMO. The perfect backyard and barnyard varmint buster.
Manny – I once strayed too for about 6 months. It’s good to check out the other options occasionally.
I see from a picture of the evanix max with scope what you are referring to. It looks like a step ladder ❗
Also I see you only list a dozen evanix guns that you own. That looks like a stable full of great guns except for the poor design you point out of their attempt at a bullpup.
Even at my old age my new .22 VULCAN has proven very accurate with a scope height of only 2 1/2″.

All sports disciplines have a proper tool and hunting is no different. In his scenario he has found what he believes works best. That doesn’t mean bullpups are not capable of good results. Hope this doesn’t cause a sell-off of perfectly good bullpups. Take these words with a pinch of salt. :2cents:
