Q:

Inside the Hummingbird–Now the tuning & issue begins!

I will post all internals and how the bird work and whats need tuning or improvements in this Topic. This BP is going to be a hit, vary well made over the cricket.

Got her today so I will cover several area as I go along tuning and adjusting:

1. the gauge isn’t aligned properly in my book. So if you have a standard cricket gauge socket it will fit the HB, but 1st the AT must be vented
under the trigger guard is where the standard fill hole and use the same fill probe as the cricket, as you can see on the photo near the fill hole is
the bleed screw—-> its a larger heavy duty screw compare to the cricket. After all the air is vented the AT can be unscrew—this AT wall thickness is thick and heavy–so vary unlikely you wont dent the AT in normal use–even dropping the HB. the oring that seals the AT is 3mm X 30mm. the fill
check valve is the same size as the cricket, had to increase the fill rate to my liking vary easy to do.

2. Now I’m having issue with the bolt blowing back when shooting pellets, when it does a lot of air will blow on your cheek and scare the shit out of me the 1st time it happen also the speed will drop about 8 to 12 fps. now it blow back about 2 to 3 time a mag full that not good—have to find this problem. Has to be the locking ball of some type—its like a free floating bolt after its cock if nothing locking it in place it will blow back! If anybody has this problem let me know!!!! 😥

Are all the Hummingbirds gone that came with the first shipment? Would the next shipment be version 2 of the gun?
What changes do they want to make other than maybe pursuing the semi auto mode?
Does anyone know?

For the new HB owner that has a blow back problem (not the cocking bolt handle moving back about 3/8″ or so after being fired that’s normal) that are not getting support–contact me for a free fix, just pay shipping.

My experience with the HB is vary exciting and positive and I want yours to be also!

Excellent !!!

I think Kalibrgun could not seek for a better After Sales Service 😀

+1 and a big THANK YOU to Ernest for helping me with my Bird.

Here’s a mod to adjust the 1st stage travel by installing a collars.

Wow, thats a very generous of you for offering free fix. At what speed does the jsb 18 and 15.9 have the most stable flight from your rifle?

Gus

The 15.9 is the most accurate on my HB at 935fps and start to open up at 970fps.

The 18.1 is great at 905fps and start to open up at 935fps.

The 13.4 jab is vary accurate at 650fps the other two are not. Getting 1/4″ groups at 40y.

Mine is on it’s way tomorrow. Will be interested in the bolt handle also.

I was sent 3 new HB that had blow back issue from the 1st WWAG shipment, those 3 are now fix and are semi tuned. I’m letting them seat for 2 to 3 days for leak check. I mod the probe locking pin to engage further in the probe so no way it will blow back and installed a stronger spring to keep the locking pin in place. polish the action & probe, and re-lube now they cock vary smooth and easy. Don’t know the name of the new owner there was no invoice. I have larger custom cocking handle in the works that John made–should have that this week==will post a photos.

So far I been testing and shooting mine over 2k at 12fpe for back yard sniping pests, only issue I had was 3 leak, 2 at the regulator base the other is the bottom plate under the reg—its the plate covering the regulated air chamber—- after testing different size oring I found a perfect replacement size.

I’ll post a Video on the blow back mods for those that like tuning there HB!

What’s up with new kali blooper. Another bug or bird that can’t fly or crawl out of the box. If I had one of those kali bloopers I’d send it back where it came from and get a Edgun.

It takes a while to debug any of these new PCPs from every vendor no matter what the cost – even the final production version. They do get them right eventually and KalibrGun has been better than most.

Ernest bro.. thanks for sharing all these valuable information.

..did you say these birds are better made than the Cricket BP?

btw, I just had to let this out of my system..

if I buy an airgun that costs this much, I feel somehow a tang of disappointment having to do all these to make it work perfectly.. am I the only one feeling this way?

You’re not the only one. I feel the same way too. However, Matt cleared it up in the other thread.

Wow 😯 I finally caught up on all of these Hummingbird threads. I may be in on Gen III like Microsoft Windows (late winter?). Sounds like it has lots of potential when they become main stream on availablilty. Thanks for all of the debuggers efforts! The stock does need a bit of work. 😉

I just off the phone with Peter. I’m to send the Bird back. Great conversation. He’ll get to the bottom of it. Not sure I’ll get a loaner, though. 🙂
Darryl

I have those problem at lower pressure. You shoot once and air start to gush out from barrel end.
