Q:

Inside the Hummingbird–Now the tuning & issue begins!

I will post all internals and how the bird work and whats need tuning or improvements in this Topic. This BP is going to be a hit, vary well made over the cricket.

Got her today so I will cover several area as I go along tuning and adjusting:

1. the gauge isn’t aligned properly in my book. So if you have a standard cricket gauge socket it will fit the HB, but 1st the AT must be vented
under the trigger guard is where the standard fill hole and use the same fill probe as the cricket, as you can see on the photo near the fill hole is
the bleed screw—-> its a larger heavy duty screw compare to the cricket. After all the air is vented the AT can be unscrew—this AT wall thickness is thick and heavy–so vary unlikely you wont dent the AT in normal use–even dropping the HB. the oring that seals the AT is 3mm X 30mm. the fill
check valve is the same size as the cricket, had to increase the fill rate to my liking vary easy to do.

2. Now I’m having issue with the bolt blowing back when shooting pellets, when it does a lot of air will blow on your cheek and scare the shit out of me the 1st time it happen also the speed will drop about 8 to 12 fps. now it blow back about 2 to 3 time a mag full that not good—have to find this problem. Has to be the locking ball of some type—its like a free floating bolt after its cock if nothing locking it in place it will blow back! If anybody has this problem let me know!!!! 😥

so is every one of these colibri fucked up with blow by issue?

why are they getting sent out like this? These guns are going for premium ‘$$$$. some guys are not mechanically inclined and are probably expecting cricket like reliability …

not good

Ernest to the rescue one more time. Thanks for all the videos u made.

Got it Ernest, thanks. Thank you too Gus. I’ll get at it tomorrow. Wondering who will win the Series now.

Gus, you beat me to fixing the blow-by. In fact I have not had the time to attend to my little Bird. But can you please post a picture? I don’t know what you mean by the”plunger”. If doing that works for you, it might work for me too.
Thank you,
Darryl

I think he meant, the back of the action a small hole–stick a hex Allen in there and tighten the plunger set screw.

1:25 of the video you see me sticking a hex Allen–make sure it tight, I think it’s a 2mm: http://youtu.be/5bd3ByiqItA

I’m telling you…there’s money to be made for someone who has the skill to upgrade that “boat paddle” stock, on an otherwise very nice pcp! They are going to sell a shit-load of these little rascals, but don’t hold your breath waiting for the .25 caliber. I’m told it still just in the “talking” stage.

Maddog…you tuned in on this?

Hoot:

That gun is precisely tailored for my needs. I go kayak and hunting on the weekend. I can just bring the colibri to double task as paddle and gun. No need to carry extra paddle, weight saving there.

WOW, I though Peter tested for blow back issue??

It’s actually a nice-shouldering little thing. It’s a relief knowing someone has posted how to fix the blow-by issue that’s stinging my face perilously close to the Mk-1 eyeball. Thanks for the posting tip, btw.

U got 2 mags? Or u order extra?

Darryl beat me to posting the pics. I didn’t adjust the cocking guide rod to fix my blowback. I just screw tight the hex screw behind the plunger and it makes positive clicking noise and blowback be gone.

Gabe, yeah, i’m a little late to the party.

Awesome little rifles. :8:

Hopefully i’ll get to try one of these beauties out one day soon.

Hats off to Ernest for investing the time to take anything and everything apart and polish, lube, tweak and hop up into a great working rifle AND make a video of it… 😯

The mule team dropped by today but apparently the board has reached it’s attachment quota. I’ll try to post pictures at a later date.

We are not hearing reports about this from Steve, Peter or any of the guys who have bought them yet besides Ernest. Maybe this is isolated.

I fully believe Ernest!!! And hope he figures this out before mine arrives.
Dave

Nothing against any of these guys….

but when ur in bussiness to sell guns why on earth would you expose possible flaws In what you sell.

Just wouldn’t make sense and I don’t expect them to report anything negative on it.

Now a third party doing a review I would expect to hear this stuff

When I bought my bobcat .30 cal. They didn’t tell me that the gauge was grossly misaligned and that front part of the action didn’t fit the stock properly.

You gotta put yourself in there Shoes sometimes.

Yeah, because honesty and integrity are so overrated. :angrymob:

Sell me something YOU know doesn’t work (for which I will have to waste my time fucking with only to return it) and i’ll NEVER buy anything from you again even if you were starving to death and had to sell your wife’s pussy to buy water. 👿

In fact if “that” person had any integrity they would return the lot to the manufacturer and tell them to send working product or fuck off.

YMMV
