Q:

Introduction A New Hobby

Just wanted to stop by and say hello to everyone. I’m no one important. I use to be a lurker and a learner from the TAG Forum for the last 2 years. I’m an avid bow hunter and a powder burner hunter most of my life. I never cared to join any of the archery forum or the powder burner forum. I stumbled uponed TAG by accident and am addicted to reading the posts. From this point, I fell inlove with air guns, especially bullpup.

I have recently purchased the SPA P12. It has been a really controversial air gun lately.

Anyhow I humbly ask all of you members(masters of air guns) to be your student. I’m new at this exciting hobby so going to need all the help I could get.

Wingman, thank you for your indept review of the P12 and congrats on your newborn baby daughter. I have three but they are all grown up.

Hemn, may you and your family be safe from harm.

My dearest Uncle Hoot, please keep me laughing in my deer stand this year so I would be too busy reading and laughing at your posts. I let a lot of deer passed last year because of you.

SECoda, Zonk, Donnyfl, Oldgoat, Sir Ville, socoloco(where’s he?), Ed, and all of you masters of air guns stay safe and be well.

Thank you all.

Going on lurk and learning MODE now. Got to prepare for 2014 Hunting Season. Opening days is September 01.

That’s why you should by proper rings, ie Burris Sig Zee. Whatever scope you have it works its best at its OPTICAL CENTER. That leaves more than enough MOA for any range you can/will use an Airgun on.

Yes,,, Ville,,,actually i have plan to order a good rings ,,, ,,,

Ville,,,

I do understand you very well,,,, i knew that i have to use one of your mentioned solutions to be able to zero my Delta at my desired range,,, ,,, but i really don’t like to use fixing/supplies tools in matters of rifles and scopes zeroing or any shooting issues ,,,

basically i like to have the correct stuff (rings, scopes, ,,,etc,,) in order to have ability to shot/ aim my desired range ,,, that is why now i prefer scopes with proper MOA ,,, and i always like to have/buy the best stuff,,, (but when i have got enough money :biggrinn: :biggrinn: )

No,,Ville,

i have zeroing problem with my Delta 6-24X42 that has only 38 MOA elevation travel ,,,with my Edgun that has some 30 MOA (I think,,,i am not sure) i could’t zero it at even 54 mtrs,,,

but it works great on my Benjamin Marauder,,i can zero it at 50 Mtrs,, easily,,, unlike my Edgun,,,

my Hawke is working great on my Edgun with 60 MOA elevation travel,,,

so,,definitely MOA is one of the serious problem for zeroing scopes of any rifles with having an MOA scope bases rails ,,, ,,,

Oh,,,sorry i forgot to mention your Delta scope that has a 15 mtr Parallax,,you are correct ,,

my next purchase will be targeted on the newest DELTA 3-24X56 ,, ED glass ,,with 100 MOA (total travel elevation ,,which means from the center to the up and down) and 34mm tube,, zero lock,,, LR.600 reticle …

but i need the 34mm ring ,,, i don’t know how to order a Barret ExRing 34mm,,???

Hemn, my man : a 4.5-30 Ti has a PX from 15 meters and on. Where do you get your info from ?

Increased MOA isn’t needed either. A scope – any scope – should be adjusted as near its optical centre as possible.
Great corrections should be done with mount/ring inserts/ canting rails and NOT by winding the turrets to their extremes.

Of course you have a zeroing problem. I understand that. But there seems to be a thing about what i said earlier that YOU don´t understand: A scope, any scope, works best AND has the best optical performance when it´s set at its optical zero. That´s somewhere near middle of its click settings. If you need to wind the turrets at their extremes – either for elevation or for windage – to get it to zero to the distance you need it to be zeroed at you need to get :
A – Adjustable mounts (like iex Burris Sig Zee´s with inserts)
B – Shim your existing rings (not a good alternative but an alternative nevertheless)
C – Get a base with inbuild cant (not easily applicable in this case)

That gives you the possibility to have your scope at – or nearby – its optical zero and thus you only need to make minor clicker adjustments to fine tune your zero.
So , my dear brother , now you may , God willing , know what i meant. :ugeekn:

Dear Hemn,

Here is what I know:

The AR-16/15, M4 carbine version, is a lightweight gun, extremely accurate, and complicated weapon, compared to the AK47. It has more parts, takes more time to disassemble and clean than the AK/SKS rifles. (SKS is a semi-automatic rifle)

The AK/SKS series has some advantages over the AR guns. Ammunition is readily available where you live. It is NOT an accurate gun at long distances. It shoots a heavy .30 caliber slug much slower than the AR-15 5.55mm (.22 caliber). At 200 yards the AK-47 round will drop about a foot from the point of aim. It’s maximum somewhat accurate range is about 300 meters. After that the bullet drops like a pregnant cow. But…it is simple to use, never fails to fire, and is not particular about being kept clean. It is best suited for close quarter engagements. Think of ambushes, or defending against an enemy attacking your defended position. Most inexperienced users put it on full auto and use the “spray and pray” method of shooting. The common shooter can’t hit targets at 300 meters without a bench rest and scope. It’s best use is probably urban combat.

The AR-16/15 and M4 carbine variations shoot 62gr solid ball ammo at 3200 FPS, with an effective accurate kill range out to 300 yards. It is accurate out to 600-1000 yards, but lacks the bullet weight to inflict a fatal wound beyond 300 yards, unless you are a very accurate shot and hit a vital organ. In heavy wind, for most ordinary users, it has accuracy issues under windy conditions. As usual, the U.S. military tried to make one rifle do everything, so it has limitations.

If you want to be a sniper, you need a bolt action, large caliber, high velocity weapon. As you indicated, those are difficult to obtain. Ammunition is very very expensive.

If I wanted to defend MY home and family in a town or city, in a dusty, windy environment, it’s the full automatic AK-47 as the wisest decision. It’s deadly at close range, any hit will be disabling, it’s dependable, and has the most common ammo in the world.

Hoot:

         oh my always dearest Uncle Hoot: … yes,,, you are really talent man … how do you know that i am not going to purchase my next PCP unless i get/ buy an MR-15 or M16 ??? and buy this scope that can be used/ mounted on both my Edgun and future MR-15 or M-16… ??? then for sure i want to smack some fucking ISIS’s dirty asses …?? then sending them to hell ( the 7th down step as you mentioned in previous posts)

and the point that i want to order the great Barret scope ExRing is for using on both my Edgun and future MR15 or M16…

actually after this bad situation that happened to my country ,,,i am really thinking of buying one of them MR-15 or M16 … and my informative brothers you tell me and advice me which one is better and has more long range activities ??? and better accuracy???

i am seriously will go to buy one that you will delegate it for me,,,i know most of you are the real firearm men,,, please help me in this matter …

now i need to learn how to treat and shot with firearms ,,, it is time for me or even it is actually toooo late but never imagined this situation,,, and know i realized that our peshmergah has got .50 BMG ,,,and except very very few of them,,,no one can use them,,,!! 😯 😯 we have some small groups (we call them,,Anti Terrorism) they are very good and have .50 BMG trained guys,,,

and rest of them still have AK 47 experience fighting ,,, and except that group i mentioned no one has scope using skills ,,,

this war is the global war but started from here,,, 🙁 🙁 ,,,

if i had firearm shooting experience,,,i was there in the battle long time ago,,, but i don’t want seen myself as a poor target of those fucking ISIS…. :biggrinn:

Brother Elmer,,,

i know that scope with ED glass + 34mm tube has a 1045g of weight,,,but if i need some thing good with almost a very good features ,,then i have to ignore the extra weight on my gun,,,,

guys i am rather wondering to know 1000g shock proof can handle which rifle recoil?

in fact i would like to buy the Lapua .338 rifle,,, but it is not available in my country all ,,,and importing is not allowed,,, 🙁 🙁 🙁

Hemn, ED glass is expensive and a bit heavy. It looks to be a 930g or 32.8oz scope. Are you taking your Edgun into combat to need such a rugged scope?

Hemn uses it to shoot ISIS agents who sneak into town after dark and fuck the local dogs, pigs, and camels, since they beheaded all the women in their group. A mistake they now bitterly regret!

Hemn, do you have to shoot the animals that get pregnant???

Kindest regards,

Amen Hoot! He is a spineless POS and needs to go before he destroys this great country of ours.

Zonk

My friend Lo-Blow….

Since I am almost blind I cannot help with your question on scopes.

I have cataracts and have another round of laser surgery scheduled in September.

Since I can’t see too well I’m sticking to the Bugbuster 3 X 9 for now. My shooting is close range, never more than 50 meters.

These other mutts, however, are not as stupid as they might seem. Some of their advice is very good!

I can appreciate your PTSD, having been married to a German CPA for 47 years! She is a great granddaughter of Adolf Hitler, a blood relative, and just as mean and fucking nuts!

Per ISIS, in November president Barry Soetoro will get his political balls handed to him on a silver plate. America is sick of his nutless behavior about ISIS. We will come back to the Middle East and it won’t be pretty! We have no choice, as they intend to destroy us, and everyone else. They are insane! The question is who is funding them? Once that is determined, someone is in for a very bad day.

Cool thanks – yes. Delta and Sightron are both Japanese. Delta may have the preferred reticle for me though.

My Big Brother Coda,,

my Delta 6-24X42 has a parallax from 10 mtrs to infnt … and also the best Delta scope 3-24X56 ED has also 15 mtr focus down,,, but most of them parallax star from 45 mtrs …

few days ago,,i had a good communication (by email) with Delta scopes …i told them about the good feature that may suitable for both firearms and airguns ,,

i explained to them that their scope parallaxes are not suitable for airguns,,,since airguns took over a big place in this world today,,,

i told them that they have to make 1o mtrs parallax scopes and try to use 1/4″ adjustment per-click or 1/8 per-click …

also i specially focused on increasing MOA with their new scopes ,,, to not less than 80 MOA … and up to 150 or 200 MOA …

i also told them that their new reticls shape LR.600 is really airgun friendly ,,,try to use this reticle on other scopes and use Ed glass as well,,, and more more,,

they replied me all my emails and appreciated my remarks and he told me that he has forwarded my remarks to their engineering department ,,,

Brother cods,,,the quality of Delta scopes are really very good,,, they are made in Japan and tested each in Germany ,,, all 1000g shock proof…

Ah,,, i forgot to mention this also,,, i also told them to increase their scope shock proof degrees to have ability to handle .50BMG recoil ….

tell me,,were these good remarks or not…

Thanks Hemn-Ville. What does the Delta focus down to in meters/yards?

quote Hemn:

In fact between this Delta that i own and my Hawke … i am choosing Hawke,,,for following reasons ,,,

my Hawke 8.5-25X42 has 60 MOA, while my Delta 6-24X42 has only 38 MOA,,,

my Hawk has a illuminated reticle while Delta doesn’t have this feature,,, and Hawke has a SF and Delta doesn’t … and my Hawke has a 30mm tube while my Delta is 25mm tube ,,, and the Hawke turrets are better than this Delta,,,

but overall the Delta looks like more durable/ solid,,,especially the titanium tube is really a very good ,,,and the Delta has more shock proof ,,,this Delta has 1000g shock proof,,,but i don’t know what is the Hawke shock proof degree ???

but if i had that Delta which Ville has mentioned ,,, 3-24X56 ED ,,,i would definitely prefer this … especially the ED glass feature is really one of the best feature that Delta company has used in this scope,,the top companies like S&B & U.S optic has used this feature in their scopes ,,, see this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CX3hLSI59ko ,,,it is really really great vid about scopes ,,,

ville ,,,i can get 3-24X56 Ed for only less than 750 Euro,,, i have a very good discount if i want to get any scope from OE company,,, if you want or anyone wants to get for this price,,,i can help,,with my pleasure,,, or any other brands,,,

quote SECoda:

Hemn – a tough question – which scope do you like better for airguns between your two? 😛 I may pick up one better scope and it will probably be the Sightron 10-50×60 but I am investigating the Deltas as well. 😉

Them ISIS folks may just be the worst on the planet yet. :4: Here they are calling the three British guys cutting the heads off the Beatles. One is named John.
