Q:

Is the shroud clipping pellets or not(HELP HELP !!!)

I installed a new shroud on my .25 Tuned Condor, 12’ barrel last night I can’t tell if the gun is clipping. What is the best indicator of pellet clipping. I am shooting at 15 yds and after about 20 groups the pattern is showing the 4 out of 5 pellets are grouping nice and tight. Then in every group I seem to get a .50” flyer. It just seems to me that if I was getting clipping the pellets would be all over the place. What do the experts have to say about this.

Hi pablouk

Thanks for tip on not damaging the body of the gun. I am going to just learn how to take this gun apart and pound the adapter out from the opposite end of the barrel. I hope I don’t damage the adapter in the process and if I do, I will not be held liable for any of the damage. The seller wanted to let me test out the shroud before putting out any money. That was a darn good idea as I am not out any money, just the agony of what lies ahead of me. This will be the last time I attempt a mod to my Condor on an untested platform of any type. It sounded like a good idea but all in all I guess it was worth a try. The seller said the shroud worked fine on his gun but I wonder if his test platform was a Condor with a 12 inch barrel. If me and Nebraska can’t take this thing apart and affect repairs I may have to send my gun off to one of the members here on the forum that knows what he is doing.. Any offers ????

Dad, in no way am I criticizing or making light of your situation here, but I think this could stand as a testament to all who think Tony’s shrouds are too high priced to consider buying. His are tried and true.

Sorry to hear you’re having the trouble you’re having. Hope this thing works out without damage to your gun and that the guy you bought it from stands behind making it good to you. Let us know how it turns out. And like Pablouk mentioned, I’d much rather destroy the insert than the gun if you’re going to work on getting this thing out yourself.

GOOD LUCK ! ! !

quote dadwilson:

It is worth a try anyway before hammering or tearing into the gun…

Before Hammering? Too late for that….

Don’t damage your gun trying to get that insert out Dad !! I had an end cap that i had exactly the same problem with. Went in tight then didn’t want to come out again. If the two surfaces have chewed up a little( frame and insert) then they might as well have been welded together. DO NOT try to twist it, as this merely makes matters worse. As WK says, if you tapped it in straight, it needs to be tapped out straight.
When i did finally get the endcap off, cos i’d been twisting it, it had chewed the fcuk out of the inside of the frame which needed much smoothing.
When you do get it out, you might have probs getting the barrel out next if the bushings are also tight and the frame is gouged.

Better to damage the insert with those pullers Bikin’ posted up than worry about returning that shit in one piece.

I feel for you mate, as this problem caused me a lot of stress too 👿

If its all made out of Ali you going to have a hard time doing that. Its a shame that its in so tight? Okyas sold you this shroud? I hope he bitches out his machinist friend for making such crap.

As you chill the end piece hit the frame with a heat gun. You will need a big heat differential to get it to move.

Hi buddy and I think I will let you two fellows give it a go… It is worth a try anyway before hammering or tearing into the gun…

Dad I have two bottles of co2 for the 2250 at the house if we need to take it off we can try that at the ranch.

This is a slide hammer. The claws can be flipped around to pull on the outside. Does that make sense?

No more trying to twist on this adapter then for sure. I may just have to go with a bearing puller. Then I just have to let someone teach me how to use one..?!?!?… We will just have to wait and see what plays out on this I’m afraid. Once I do get it off, and I hope that happens without damaging the gun, I will just simply return it, undamaged I hope. Were taking the gun out for a little squirrel hunt this weekend and just leaving the tube off the gun. Booom for sure and they will hear me in the next county. Now all I have to do is make sure nothing mars or dings up the adapter.

I hear ya!

But usually if it is installed with a hammer, it must be hammered off!

The ID of the frame does vary from gun to gun a few thousandths of an inch and that seems to be the problem.

The aluminum of the endcap is galling with the aluminum of the gun. Once it galls that is not good and you will have to tap it out from the back. The more you twist it the more it will gall and lock up.

You only other options are to get a bearing puller.

Man, you lost me after taking off the bottle.. I have no idea how to delve into anything past that. I never did purchase a Condor to be able to work on it myself. I really don’t want to be sending my gun off to someone just to do this for me with the time and expense and all. I just want to get the darn thing to work right. I am hoping that my friend will come up with a plan to take care of the shroud…

Will,

If you installed it with a hammer you have to remove it the same way but in reverse.

Take off the bottle, the bottle collar, the bolt, hammer, spring, velocity adjuster, barrel.

Put a 1″ fender washer down the tube so it it sits against the end piece. Put 3/4″ dowel, or metal rod on top of the washer and tap it out by striking the rod.

Make sure the set screw has been removed 😀

SP_Rapid on that other forum is our STALKER AKA…..OYKAS, HAMMILIS, BOND and LEEMAN.

Dad he is also BOND on SS.

I hope you get that off!

I have been messing with this shroud since 10:30 AM and I am getting burned out. I am going to take the compressed air option a try tomorrow. I also have one of them on hand. So perhaps, a new day and a fresh start will bring on more positive results. I don’t know what to say to the fellow I purchased this from. I can’t return it if I can’t get it apart. I can’t pay for something that don’t work either.. what to do what to do <<+>>?!?
