Is the shroud clipping pellets or not(HELP HELP !!!)
I installed a new shroud on my .25 Tuned Condor, 12’ barrel last night I can’t tell if the gun is clipping. What is the best indicator of pellet clipping. I am shooting at 15 yds and after about 20 groups the pattern is showing the 4 out of 5 pellets are grouping nice and tight. Then in every group I seem to get a .50” flyer. It just seems to me that if I was getting clipping the pellets would be all over the place. What do the experts have to say about this.

that should be plenty. From the angle it appeared it might have been drilled for .22.
might want to try “indexing” the shroud, turn it 45deg, shoot a group, turn, etc and see if it changes the group size. if it does, find the sweet spot and make a permanent mark for where to align it.
I never try to shoot the first few shots off a new fill for group. Seems the valve needs to be actuated a couple times to ‘settle’ into its normal position after filling, so I find the first few shots questionable/give varrying results.
The opening measures .314 …. is that good or bad. ???
I think I’d try to get that target out to 25 yd; will be easier to see any potential problems. It should be doing better than that though.
What’s the ID of the hole in the shroud? looks kind of small for a .25.
Adam I already shot this string of 25 before I read your post about using the blue marking felt tip. I will let my 12 yr old Son test this out when he get home from school as he shoots this beast a lot better that I do for sure. I am still not convinced thought that I am not getting clipping. I can usually shoot a .50 inch group or small at 15 yds with this gun…

This is 25 shot right after a 3000 psi fill. The first 4 shots are circled in black and the rest are in the read with a 920 c-t-c… I was shooting on a pretty unstable bench rest. If the shroud is clipping, it can’t be by much..
As sendf1 recommend a little blue dye will help find clipping at the end cap.
Since I know you dont have blue dye use a sharpie marker to color the inside of the endcap and shoot. If the pellet is clipping you will see where.
If I am having problems with the shroud, I don’t really want to broadcast who the Custom Man is that did the job for me. You know how fast an issue can get blown out of proportion once a thread is started. There may be nothing wrong at all and it is only me at the trigger causing the problem. I have just set up my good shooting bench and my Caldwell Rock Br rest and I am going to run it through its paces again starting with the shroud off as you previously suggested. Man am I going through a lot of air on the testing of this thing..

What kind of Custom Shroud do you have? It might help us figure it out if we know. There are many reasons for clipping.
So what kind is it, and how does it attach?
In cases like this, i always find it helpful to let someone else shoot my gun for me. That way i can eliminate my self as the accuracy issue if the gun still shoots bad in the other persons hands.
maybe a little blue dykem sp? would help
I personally think you should just give up on the A/F platform and send that little .25 to me for a proper disposal.
if your getting 4 out of 5 nice and tight with one flying out 1/2 in. I would say it’s the good old hart beat twitch.
but my offer still stands, I’ll take that thing off you hands for you, I wouldn’t want to to be stressing and take it out on the wife and kids ya know..
I tried that last night and could not come up with a conclusive pattern to satisfy my concern. Perhaps I should have asked what I should be looking for if the gun is clipping. Even if it is only clipping ever so slightly.. I could have also been shooting off of a more stable bench rest. It is difficult to come up with ideal shooting conditions. I am far too new to this sort of thing. I pay a bunch of money for a custom shroud and I have to do the testing. It is as if I have no confidence in the gun right now..
easiest way to tell is take off the shroud and shoot again!
I once had clipping so bad I could see the pellet cork screw and it would hit the target 7 out of 10 times at 50 yards…lol

How is the crown on your barrel? I re-did mine to a mirror finish on my lathe and noticed an improvement in my grouping….not a lot but every bit helps.
