The more I look, the more confused I get. Remember, down here in the mid-South, we don’t get around much and have to make do what’s available.
The lady on the far right could be his first wife, and the one next to him could be their daughter, his sister, his second wife, or his first wife’s last child by her first marriage. All of them living together is not a problem since the divorce courts down here generally give joint custody of the trailer, dogs, and children to both parties.
Now I’m really confused.

Secoda’s daughter could be 18 or 12 years of age. Today it’s really hard to tell. What with growth hormones in the corn we feed them, they get “adult” way too early! Having raised a daughter, there’s nothing worse than dad worrying about his child running around in a woman’s body.
I shot my Leyla down to zero psi today, due to an O-ring replacement project this weekend. I managed 20 shots from 200 bar down to 100 bar. Remember, this little bitch is pushing 18.1gr at 800+ fps, or around 23 fpe. With that small reservoir, that’s pretty good. I may tweek it down to 20 fpe, as 23 fpe doesn’t gain me all that much punch, but might add five or so to the shot count.
I let my neighbor’s visiting adult son shoot it. He was amazed at the accuracy, power, and how quiet it was. He was all hot to get one until he asked what it cost. I always thought someone’s eyeballs shooting out, and bouncing up and down on their stalks, was just in cartoons!!!

Seems like one would have to drill something out to get 4mm bearings where 3mm bearings were previously fitted. Hmmmmm…..

Dearest Uncle, I may be able to answer your question “How do you get the balls out?” Now this is a tried and true procedure, been doing it for years in these parts.
Go to the nearest feed and grain store and ask for some extra small, extra stout rubber bands. When you get Lelya’s balls out in the open take one of the rubber bands an stretch it around the offending ball, one at a time of course! Now just set back and relax for three days, then start checking the previously mentioned balls. They should start changing color, a dark purple, if memory is correct. Very soon after they will just drop off!!
I hope this helps, you may find a few side effects but nothing to worry about.

First off, I watched Ed’s video but couldn’t understand a word of what he said. He just as well been speaking Russian…and I didn’t quite follow the mechanical fix. I’m not gifted in such matters. Damn good looking, but not all that smart!
How did you get your balls out??? Just grabbed them and squeezed while pulling up…or is there a more civilized manner to do this? This is a serious question, as I’d like to take care of this minor situation.
Secondly, Where does a body find 4mm ball bearings? On-line for certain, but does it take stainless, or some special material???

I have two of the first gen Russian made Veles, one of which had the breech opening issue from day one, the other one has been flawless.
Luckily I didnt have to wait on parts to repair the faulty one because I probably still be waiting..
There are two ways to fix this problem, Ed has a video showing an adjustment on youtube but this did not work on my pistol, anyone who has had a Lelya or Veles apart will be familiar with its drop down breech locking device, check that it is free of any heavy grease and use a light oil on it so it falls on its own even without the spring to assist it.. the problem is that it doesnt drop down enough sometimes which causes the breech too open a crack sometimes. I filed my slide that the drop lock falls into just a hair which allowed it to drop in more completely and that fixed the issue.
The second option to fix it is to replace the two 3mm detent ball bearings in the top of the slide with 4mm ones as they hold tighter.

The breech popping open perhaps 1/16th” after a shot was never a functional problem. It was purely cosmetic and did not affect the operation of the gun. Mine does it from time to time and it’s not a problem. You have to pull the breech open after each shot to reload anyway. There is a minor adjustment in the holding mechanism if such things bug you. It doesn’t bug me because it has zero effect on me or the gun’s performance.
As for valves, any part can fail on any specific gun. I am not familiar with any widespread reports of valve failure on the Leyla. It happened a lot on the early .25 Matadors because Ed used the existing .22 valve and warned all involved that it would not last as long as the .22 models. Still it was good for many thousands of shots. That issue was corrected when the next updates were made to the .25 Matadors. It hasn’t been a major problem since, more of a maintenance thing.
The Pimp-Meister made an honest report on an early model Leyla. Don’t take this to reflect on all following models through the years. Ed never stops improving his guns and this one is no exception. The new Leylas have a different breech holding design and the very minor pop-open issue should be history. The current valve stems are a non-issue as far as I’m concerned. Currently parts are available much easier than they were a few years ago.
Have a little faith. It’s a great little gun.
