I wonder if the eccentric moderator/shroud is retro-fittable to the older Leylas?

I see someone has posted a picture of the new eccentric type on the yellow To me I like the looks of it even more. I think it completes the look of the gun, makes it look better than older style. That picture is got me wanting it even more.

To get around moderator baffles, I use a plastic drinking straw, inserted into the muzzle-end. Once that is lined up with the barrel, it’s usually easy to thread some weedeater line from breech to muzzle and pull patches through. The weedeater line has been sharpened a little at one end and the other end heated with a lighter and flattened to help hold the patches. You may need to gently warm the line on the leading/pointed end and straighten curves out so the lead goes easily into the straw.
I’ll let you know if this works on a Leyla after :hoot: gets tired of his and he mails it to me. I’m hoping he’ll trade it for a bag of bioengineered corn which has been laced with a deadly poultry-killing virus.*

I would like to attempt a little explanation on why delivery takes so long (relatively long).
Well I don’t know the facts in their entirety, only one thing here and there but putting them all toghether the final picture could look more or less like this….
(Please don’t start saying I’m bashing the brand because I’m not)
1) Ed isn’t allowed to export airguns from Russia so he sends part of the materials needed to build the guns to Estonia
2) Customs clearance takes some time
3) The Edgun facility in Estonia makes the guns in the whole taking some time
4) Since Ed tests ALL the guns PERSONALLY, the facility in Estonia disassembles the guns into parts, packs them and ships them to Russia in order to be tested by Ed (gun parts can be shipped, entire guns not)
5) Customs clearance takes some time
6) At their arrival in Russia the guns are unpacked, reassembled, ready to be tested by Ed personally when he comes back from his Middle-East tour
7) The guns are tested by Ed one by one
8) The guns that pass the quality controls are diassembled, packed and send back to Estonia (only parts of airguns can be exported, not entire guns)
9) Customs clearance takes some time
10) The facility in Estonia reassembles the guns, packs them and ships them to the US
11) Customs clearance takes some time
Well this is apparently the entire production process (certainly some minor things are missing) but nevertheless this straightforward process has a weak link.
The guns once reassembled in Estonia (point 10) are not tested or quality checked before being shipped to the US (only Ed does this).
So you understand why delivery might take some time, please be patient!

One of my friends in Budapest sent me two rolls of toilet paper as a token of his esteem. It got here via Hungarian Post in just over a week.
A friend in Paris sent me a package that arrived in less than a week.
Does anyone know how things are being shipped from Estonia? Are your Leyla’s being carried overland by pack mule? Even a slow Chinese freighter, at an average speed of seven knots, would have been here weeks ago, and that’s from the Pacific ocean, not the Atlantic.

It’s a 12″ barrel with a long single shot loading breech. I’d leave it on and just use a “snake” or brush to clean it.
I’m in a rotten mood today…been raining for two solid days and three more days expected. Bummer.

What do you mean “how does one clean a Leyla barrel“?
Are you really asking how to remove the barrel?…the moderator? what fluids to use? Wire or cloth brushes?
C’mon…give me something to work with here.
Don’t confuse old people, we can break a hip because of inquiries like these!!!

I have no idea how that eccentric moderator comes off. It certainly doesn’t unscrew, unless you can remove the barrel from the breech end and pull it forward of the air cylinder, then unscrew the offset moderator at that point. Perhaps it is held on with friction and hex screws and just pulls off…but that seems unlikely.
One can’t help but notice the barrel nut at the back of the moderator…so it would seem there is some way of taking off the moderator to then access that barrel nut.
Interesting question, but one I can’t answer.

One pokes a cleaning rod down the barrel, pushes it in and out, then stops when it is clean.

a) Poke long cleaning rod down barrel, push it in and out, stop when barrel is clean.

I don’t see why not. Does the eccentric moderator on the .30 Matadors fit on the .22 and .25 Matadors? Perhaps someone who has one can take a few close up photos or even take one apart so we can see how it is made. With that info we might be able to get someone on this side of the pond to start making them.
