Matador metal valve stem update almost done for testing
Look great so far, will test al least 1 thousand rounds or more on my .22 R3 then .25 r3M. No need to have a long spring guide past the guide bushing, just take up air space. After I know it has proper spring tension to seal for filling and hold pressure at 250b? I need some members to test the valve stem—- that shot a lot like 100+ Shots a day—-Any volunteers ???????

Believe me a bag of hundreds of different orings isn’t so much fun if you don’t have a lot of spare time to sort. The sorted labeled 😀 box is really nice.
Yes, have them in all caliber in a hard case all label with there size and name.
They are looking tougher.
BTW, Do you still have o-rings box for R3M .22 avail.?

after 300 rounds I inspected the oring, it started to wear out. so orings are a NO GO.
will install black Delran seat–stay tuned!
Ernest i know you have had lots of offers for testers but i’ll throw my hat in. I shoot every day (weather permitting) at least 100 rds. I have a R3 .25 cal so if you need me just let me know.

In the new design, is the o ring held completely by a groove or is there also a bonding agent/glue?

Latest up date, we Change the valve rod to perfectly ground harden stainless steel. And made the oring changeable and one size fit all caliber and made the oring grove OD thicker. Hopefully test this weekend. Will have a fellow country man from the Philippine .30 cal for testing, will shoot about 500 rounds and take a look at the valve stem for wear if no signed of wear will let him preform a long term testing. Will also test on a .25 std and set it to shoot 970fps shooting Kings, mostly give it a heavy load and see how she hold out.

I love the idea and don’t want to be negative. I hate the plastic valve. However, I’m a little bit concerned about the failing part just moving up the price list. The valve seat isn’t serviceable, its jut a lip on the regulator body. If there is a failure of some kind with a metal valve, its very Likely to damage the lip. Again, I’m only trying to contribute in the only way I can; by seeing issues before they occur. If the Oring isn’t serviceable, I don’t see a huge benefit to the metal valve. The ring will wear out, just like the plastic valve breaks. If your concerned with oring retention consider oring glue on the back side. When its time, just pul the old one out and scotch brite the old glue out, and glue the new one in. Just make sure there isn’t any glue n the sealing side. They make glue for orings, but if that’s not good enough, the make two stage stuff that I used to use to hold instrumentation to motorcycles. Not two part epoxy, although that might be enough, but glue on one part and catalyst on the other. We tested some stuff we stuck to a pelican case at 50lbs and it didn’t break. That’s probably way too much if you ever wanted to make that surface seal again, but its an example of what’s out there.
I guessing your using Orings cause you don’t have access to rubber molding or neoprene coatings. If your prototypes are popular enough, might be something you want to look into. I have no experience with small batch manufacturing, but I’m sure there is someone left that would do it.
