Matador metal valve stem update almost done for testing
Look great so far, will test al least 1 thousand rounds or more on my .22 R3 then .25 r3M. No need to have a long spring guide past the guide bushing, just take up air space. After I know it has proper spring tension to seal for filling and hold pressure at 250b? I need some members to test the valve stem—- that shot a lot like 100+ Shots a day—-Any volunteers ???????

Here is my original 30 cal broken stem and it is exactly 10mm just like the replacements from Tony I am now using without issue.
Edit: I just went out to study the stem sealing diameter -vs- the flange it seals on and the 10mm and the size and match is perfect in the 30 cal. valve, but any larger and it overlaps and begins creating an inefficient restriction in the air flow path getting around the stem and turning (2) tighter 90 degree turns passing into the port on the smaller caliber regulators.
It is curious how two different diameters found their way into our valves !!

Thanks OG,
look like the .30 cal will have its own dedicated valve stem!, will test that size on the smaller caliber and see If it affect the air flow with a over hang lip on the valve stem seat.
Hello Ernest. Here are some measurements that I made on my 30 cal R3 air valve/regulator assembly soon after I got it.
Here are the changes that Ed has made on the 30 cal compared to the 25 cal.
The 25 cal air valve housing is on the left. The 25 has a 6.27 mm ID hole in the air valve rod passage, the 30 cals ID is 7.01 mm. The base of the air valve chamber is 17.87 mm deep on the 25 and 16.20 mm deep on the 30. The shortened depth on the 30 cal is needed for the increased transfer port ID.
You can see larger transfer port hole on the 30 cal. The 25 measures 5.58 mm, the 30 is 6.03 mm. The 30 cal has a 14.76 mm spacer that increases the regulated pressure plenum. The 25 cal regulator housing measures 30.35 mm OD, the 30 cal has been turned down to 28.75 mm OD. The 25 cal uses 3, 25 mm X 3mm O rings, the 30 cal uses 2 25 mm X 3 mm O rings and a 18.5 mm X 3 mm O ring for the regulator housing.
IIRC, the OD of the air valve sealing face was 11 mm compared to the 10 mm of the extra rods that I have in stock. The extra 1 mm OD could have been a machining error difference and not something that is needed on the 30 cal R3.
USPS says that I will have my spare complete 30 cal R3 air valve/regulator assembly will be here in the morning. I will measure it and post the specs tomorrow.
The OD of the steel end is the same, they just vary in length between the R2.5 and R3s. The Derlin ends are the same, except for the noted 1 mm larger OD on the sealing face on the 30 cals. Again, I will measure my 30 cal air valve rod and post the specs here tomorrow.
If my cut and paste of the pics and measurements don’t post; you can find the info here:

Go to the 5th page for them.
I still want 4 of your air valve rods when they become available!
Yes they are, all of mine, 4 of them not currently in guns are all 10mm diameter and the same. I still think you can make any current generation from the one pictured. As said earlier I think early matadors R2.5 maybe, might have had a longer spring guide stem.
Aren’t those pictures and measurements Ride posted above the 30 stem?
I’m going to shorten the spring guide shorter to fit in both to clear the metal bushing. I don’t want to take up the air space in the 1st chamber —> that’s at least one shot of air.
Thanks Ride, have both long and short spring guide. I just need to know if the .30 cal any different ????

Ernest,
It’s worth noting is the length of the 2mm steel stems vary with application and are sold currently as over length and the buyer has to trim to needed length. I think there is several lengths. I additional think that the spring guide end has varied in length over time as well but too long hurts nothing. All of my current delievery guns are the same on this end. Is there anything I can do to help with measurments ? I will measure and post pictures here shortly of the current fit-em-all Tony is selling for cross reference..
Edit : Once again these pictures are of the current replacement part. The steel stem is over length as provided and my particular versions vary from 42mm to 46mm on the ones that i have. I think I understans that there is some longer delrin tails in past designs, maybe OLD Goat or someone else can weigh in on this.

slightly heavier, I would think sight increase in HST would be needed to get the same speed.
Ernest, that air valve looks good! It the weight is close to the stock valve I will buy 4 of them as soon as you have them available.
I bet that will do it. Actually they all should probably be metal at this point.
heard some members shooting 18.1g over 1000fps, I could see a stem breaking soon on there’s.

Yes the real need is 30s and then 25s me thinks. I have not heard of too many 22 breaks.
made as per blue print from the R3 .22 valve stem.

Thanks Ride!
will make it that size :8:
