Matador metal valve stem update almost done for testing

Look great so far, will test al least 1 thousand rounds or more on my .22 R3 then .25 r3M. No need to have a long spring guide past the guide bushing, just take up air space. After I know it has proper spring tension to seal for filling and hold pressure at 250b? I need some members to test the valve stem—- that shot a lot like 100+ Shots a day—-Any volunteers ???????

Hard time finding a 90 dur oring for now, 80% of the oring is crimp so don’t think it will blow away. if it does replace with Teflon or harder oring.

Is there any way to calculate the amount of o-ring compression, i am thinking there is 250 to 275 pounds of actual pressure on the backside if the stem. ?? I guess we can install , measure stem stick out , charger the air tube and re check.

oring compression is limited by regulated pressure–the outer oring groove will bottom out and stop at the valve body, the fill check oring is 1.6mm X 2.8mm and subject to a higher pressure. only testing will tell if compression need to be increases or backside of stem need to thicker to increases strength. good thing about oring they seal better with increase pressure and self centering.

that’s the job of testers, to check actual sealing imprint on the oring of the .30 cal, we can mod the oring size/hardness or location if needed. oring is crimped in place so theres a lot of rubber to seal and not get blown away. I’ll shot one thousand rounds before I give the stem to others for testing, if I shot 50 rounds a day for 20 days—I can do that!

The centerline of the .30 sealing lip in the valve body is .344. The centerline of the oring in the .30 oring stem is .313….but the max diameter of the sealing lip is .368 and the max diameter of the oring in the stem is .416, so the seat is within the oring just a bit outside of the centerline. This may or may not work but it is our only option for an oring in the .30 stem. There is no other closer sized 90 durometer orings that I could find. So there isn’t really anything to change on the .30 oring stem if it doesn’t work well….except to slightly increase the 11mm diameter if the oring wants to push out and bulge the aluminum. The .30 may require a Delrin seat.

2= The .177 .22 .25 stem with the 90 durometer round oring is almost perfectly center for center for the .22 edgun sealing lip in the valve body…unsure about the .177 and .25. I feel this stem will be the one to make. The only change that may need to be made is to increase the 10mm diameter by a little to hold the oring in more secure.

3= The oring is not serviceable on all the prototype stems. Only the one with the 70 durometer square oring is. This one is the nicest looking one but I feel it may be too soft to work properly.

we are going to test this valve stem with orings, we went with this designed so its serviceable, its more forgiving then hard delrin. the oring has limited compression when the outer oring grove stop at the valve body. I believe it will work—-look at the high pressure side of the regulator—same designed but not serviceable and look at the fill check valve it use oring to control 300b pressure, and we are dealing with no more then 160B, just imagine no crack delrin or imbedded pitting’s that will cause it to fail. what ever lost in velocity due to soft oring will make it up using HSTA.

bounding isn’t reliable in high pressure, should be press in place and valve spring and air pressure to seal both side of the Delrin.

don’t have my air valve and reg assembly on .25—having a tool made to test pressurize the whole assembly to leak test the valve stem!!

Ride or any member that has a used/broken valve stem on the .30 cal—I need this measurements–NOW :whistle:

this is a photo of the RED sealing imprint when both are kissing to seal the air–> this will determine 10mm or 11mm and locate proper center alignment.
