New $210 Tuxing 4500psi compact compressor
After much deliberation I have bought a compressor to fill my PCPs and pony bottles.
I was torn between spending decent money on a Bauer JNR or just take a risk on a cheep Chinese job.
The new Altaros booster looked great but it still relies on a regular work shop compressor to operate which would mean I would have to spend more money upgrading my current workshop cheapo or it would soon let me down.
So after searching many cheap Chinese compressors I found this one that is very well priced and fairly new to the market.

I had no real need to fill 12ltr dive bottles with a compressor (which Im sure this one will do) so a lightweight will suit my needs.
It will be mainly used to direct fill my PCPs, top up my 500cc backpack bottle from 180 to 300bar and top up my 3ltr pony bottle from 180bar to 240bar.
Between them all I have more than enough air for an outing.
I had some reserves about build quality but it is a very simple unit and I had the seller pack in enough piston seals, O rings and plastic seats to rebuild the thing ten times over for a very reasonable $7 extra.
The Seller was extremely helpful and seems to know his product with full back up service parts available.
Fuxing my Tuxing looks to be very simple and it lends itself to loads of upgrades such as a larger oil/air separator.
I just received a litre of high quality Special Bauer full synthetic breathing air compressor oil which cost me a crazy $70 but there is enough for 4 services. (1000 hour intervals)
The unit arrived in New Zealand from China via TNT in a very speedy 4 days! Currently being held in customs but I hope to see it any day now.
Ill add to my review as I spend some time using it.
My expectations are realistic with any Chinese purchase but the price seemed right on this one.. It is really not much more than a motorised 2 stage hand pump and keeping that in mind the price is very reasonable.
I will be using it for very short intervals not hours on end like the shoe box compressor etc require so wear and tear should be a lot less.

Yes, voltage is absolutely correct and the machine ran a couple of times already.
It’s not a machine to fill a dive bottle from 0 to 300 bar but it does great in topping it up or taking a gun from empty all the way up to 300bar.
My new unit has been shipped, will be here in six days time. The one that is supposedly “improved” in some way.

The “US plug” indicates a unit set for 110v….did you install a European 220 plug on it? If so the motor will fry!!!!!

Price so low it’s a gamble but nice if you got lucky and it works. But anyways those cheap pumps are a good place to start modding if you are handy with tools.
You can always change better orings and seals, mod the separator for better one.
But always remember to respect the high pressure!
Was hydroing the 20mm lower today when valve exploded at 445bar on the second pressure cycle. Not even what’s designed to that pressure always holdup, materials can have defects and Chinese material isn’t top of the line.
Just some generic compressor oil I found in a DIY place. I intend to change it out often.

Looks pretty solid, works great.. pumps my impact from 150 bar to 250 in not even two minutes.
Very sweet piece of kit.
Had to lob the US plug off and install a european lead,.. also wired the earth/ground onto the chassis.
I would advice putting the filter on output, then it’ll filter the oil that can and will go trough the compressor. Check at the beginning of this thread what wingman uses on his.

I know, .. there has to be some be quality issues. Already I can see the motor will need some kind of additional fan for cooling. The head itself will need to be cooled too. Was think to get a gallon or so in car coolant, make a reservoir, add a mini radiator (like the ones they use for watercooled pc’s) and use that as a closed system for cooling.
Or… just ommit the whole waterpump thing and run water straight from the tap trough the head.
Should have it tonight, bastards in Brussels did slap a $60 import tax on it. Still.. way cheaper than anything else.
Now I need a moisture trap, either on input or output. Input will be various degrees cheaper but will need to figure out where it draws in the atmosphere.
Ok now I need to say something about the last one.
The parts used on that one starts to give me the creeps, starting with the wingnut and looking at the headbolts, I’m not so sure about the quality of the materials. At least change the headbolts to something like 8.8, those shiny looking Chinese black bolts are known to be very soft, at least the ones I have seen or replaced.
And if you value your life get the “separator” hydro tested.
My advice on buying from China, always remember that they are the masters of cutting corners for profit!
It may look shiny and good but the price comes straight from the materials.
