New $210 Tuxing 4500psi compact compressor
After much deliberation I have bought a compressor to fill my PCPs and pony bottles.
I was torn between spending decent money on a Bauer JNR or just take a risk on a cheep Chinese job.
The new Altaros booster looked great but it still relies on a regular work shop compressor to operate which would mean I would have to spend more money upgrading my current workshop cheapo or it would soon let me down.
So after searching many cheap Chinese compressors I found this one that is very well priced and fairly new to the market.

I had no real need to fill 12ltr dive bottles with a compressor (which Im sure this one will do) so a lightweight will suit my needs.
It will be mainly used to direct fill my PCPs, top up my 500cc backpack bottle from 180 to 300bar and top up my 3ltr pony bottle from 180bar to 240bar.
Between them all I have more than enough air for an outing.
I had some reserves about build quality but it is a very simple unit and I had the seller pack in enough piston seals, O rings and plastic seats to rebuild the thing ten times over for a very reasonable $7 extra.
The Seller was extremely helpful and seems to know his product with full back up service parts available.
Fuxing my Tuxing looks to be very simple and it lends itself to loads of upgrades such as a larger oil/air separator.
I just received a litre of high quality Special Bauer full synthetic breathing air compressor oil which cost me a crazy $70 but there is enough for 4 services. (1000 hour intervals)
The unit arrived in New Zealand from China via TNT in a very speedy 4 days! Currently being held in customs but I hope to see it any day now.
Ill add to my review as I spend some time using it.
My expectations are realistic with any Chinese purchase but the price seemed right on this one.. It is really not much more than a motorised 2 stage hand pump and keeping that in mind the price is very reasonable.
I will be using it for very short intervals not hours on end like the shoe box compressor etc require so wear and tear should be a lot less.

What are you gonna do that requires such cooling? Top off big tanks? They have an “improved” model that is replacing this one in about 3-4 days although I do not know what is improved. I know this because I had issues with mine, oil leaked in to the system and got to the filter. I tried to fix it with Wingman’s help, but contacted the seller about it, and he is sending me a new compressor, but he said I have to wait 3-4 days for the “improved” to come out. I guess the others are sold out? Otherwise he would have gotten me one of those I guess. He didn’t tell me what improvements were made but kudos to the seller for standing behind his product to the extent of shipping me a new compressor!

I’ve been waffling on this for months. If the new ones are competitively priced, I might chance the purchase.
Cooling seems to be a primary project for this compact outfit. Ice water and a cooling fan are the current solutions. Anyone figured out how to add an oil cooler in the mix? It would be nice to drop an oil cooler in the bucket of ice water to help chill things down.
The question is where on the unit could you put in a coupler and re-cycle the oil through a cooler coil in the ice bucket? Or, would it be necessary to cut and thread an opening in the cover head to add a hose nipple to access the oil? Then comes the question of how to apply a pump to move the oil from the head to the bucket back to the head?
Nice solution…the only thing lacking are the parts, instructions, and pump to accomplish this task.
Has anyone had problems running the unit on the common 110v available here in the colonies? Does it slow down, run hotter???

That’s a great question, if it doesn’t replace the current model then no doubt it will be more expensive
But at what price?
A month from now they will have a version with auto shut off and auto pressure release if you’re in to that kind of stuff.
I likened the shape of the 1.3L bottle to a 1L soda bottle. Easier to palm and pack in a backpack for extended walks.
And also, the shape is not that bad, it looks wierd on the pic I agree but it says how wide it is and I used a measuring tape and it is not that fat at all. Gotta remember it is only just above a liter
Weight. I did not think the extra weight was worth the extra air. I used a PCP fill calculator online to check and I am very pleased with my choice.
Any reason why you opted for the fatter 1.1L instead of the taller but slimmer 1.3L? I would have personally gone with the 1.3L due to the shape.
I have a 1.1L on they way! 0.5L is nice but I wanted a bit more and the 2L was too heavy for me, the 1.1 seems just about perfect. I got one that cost a bit more but that was pressure tested to 500 bar so I feel safe having it filled to 300 bar in my backpack. That is going to be real nice in the field!
For $60 I have upgraded to the more substantial full size desiccant and element water/oil filter.
As I said I have no intention of filling any larger dive bottles.. this little unit will be nursed at low run times just topping up pony bottles and direct gun fills. It has no auto shut off feature so I wouldnt be walking away from it while filling 240 bar fills anyway. :whistle:

Looks good to me. However, I’d suggest a secondary fan directed at that top compression head to help dissipate the heat.
Keep us posted on how it turns out. There’s a lot of us wondering whether to buy and if it’s worth the bucks. Seems to be working for the guys so far, so we’ll keep a close watch on this thread!!!
