New $210 Tuxing 4500psi compact compressor
After much deliberation I have bought a compressor to fill my PCPs and pony bottles.
I was torn between spending decent money on a Bauer JNR or just take a risk on a cheep Chinese job.
The new Altaros booster looked great but it still relies on a regular work shop compressor to operate which would mean I would have to spend more money upgrading my current workshop cheapo or it would soon let me down.
So after searching many cheap Chinese compressors I found this one that is very well priced and fairly new to the market.

I had no real need to fill 12ltr dive bottles with a compressor (which Im sure this one will do) so a lightweight will suit my needs.
It will be mainly used to direct fill my PCPs, top up my 500cc backpack bottle from 180 to 300bar and top up my 3ltr pony bottle from 180bar to 240bar.
Between them all I have more than enough air for an outing.
I had some reserves about build quality but it is a very simple unit and I had the seller pack in enough piston seals, O rings and plastic seats to rebuild the thing ten times over for a very reasonable $7 extra.
The Seller was extremely helpful and seems to know his product with full back up service parts available.
Fuxing my Tuxing looks to be very simple and it lends itself to loads of upgrades such as a larger oil/air separator.
I just received a litre of high quality Special Bauer full synthetic breathing air compressor oil which cost me a crazy $70 but there is enough for 4 services. (1000 hour intervals)
The unit arrived in New Zealand from China via TNT in a very speedy 4 days! Currently being held in customs but I hope to see it any day now.
Ill add to my review as I spend some time using it.
My expectations are realistic with any Chinese purchase but the price seemed right on this one.. It is really not much more than a motorised 2 stage hand pump and keeping that in mind the price is very reasonable.
I will be using it for very short intervals not hours on end like the shoe box compressor etc require so wear and tear should be a lot less.

My friend is not completely happy with his because it does not have an automatic shut off. He is too impatient to wait the less than three minutes to fill his Cricket and switch it off manually.

This is the compressor that I recommended which a friend bought a few months earlier. It was not branded as Tuxing at the time.
I think, this is a better and improved design compared to the other where the air tubes are exposed outside the pump.
I just ordered one, and that golden filter too, will try and make something similar although I barely understand a Word in this post lol. A lot to learn :geekn:

Factoring in portability and refills, I think a 1.1L or 1.3L bottle to be a good compromise for field use unless you plan to be at an all day field event. You have to have your own compressor though since it’s not worth refilling a small bottle at a shop if they charge the same flat-rate to refill a 1.3L bottle vs 9L tank.
Ok…let’s get down to specifics: How many “top-off” fills can you get from a 500 cc CF bottle?
The AA 500 can be had with a 500 cc bottle as the rifle’s air cylinder. What exactly is to be gained with a small CF bottle? Is it worth the cost?
I have a steel 150 cu ft scuba tank, with a 5000 psi burst disk…so I can get it filled to 3600 psi. However, as a “buddy bottle” I will admit it is somewhat cumbersome in the field…perhaps a CF bottle is, in some ways, a better way to go. The real question is what size CF bottle is small enough to tuck in a backpack, but still big enough to sustain a day’s shooting out in the middle of a Dog’s Breath, Arkansas rural pasture????

It depends what your are filling with the 500cc backpack bottle, I get 70 shot on the reg from my .22 Matdor std and 90 shots on the reg from my .25cal Matador Long both of which I can get one full top up from 120bar to 245bar and a couple more at around 200 and 180 bar. That’s a lot of shots in the field for me.
Now if we are talking a smaller PCP such as the Leshiy it fills it many times over and again is more than enough for a good day out.
If you want to shoot lots of lead or have a air hungry toy I recommend the 2 litre 300bar bottle.
the same valve I posted in the link previously fits this too. its bigger to carry in a backpack but 4 x the capacity of the 500cc and still very light.
Still want more? go the 3 litre.

PS: I’ve been thinking about going to the crowed-sourced “GoFundMe.com” web site, and asking for private donations to help a 74 year old, elderly, unemployed, Arkansas man, to purchase a “Home Compressor and CF Air Storage tank” to supply him with supplemental air…and avoid him making the dangerous drive into the city of Toad Suck, Arkansas, on his only transportation, a 1960 BSA motorcycle, to ask the volunteer fire department to fill his tiny existing air storage cylinder.
