Q:

New Condor valve

Been some rumblings about it elsewhere. I called AF to see if I could buy one. Supposedly, this new valve solves the 3000psi fill pressure issue in the Condors and makes them quite consistent.

Issue is that if your Condor is under warranty, they will replace it. If not….. $80 to get the replacement.

They wont sell them seperately though. I called and tried to buy one…no-go. Asked if there were plans for an updated Talon valve and was told…’nope!’

Thanks looks like even though my gun is a year old I have to pay the 105.00 for a new valve. 🙁 Oh well at least they are offering a fix for a reasonable amount.

I purchased the gun direct from AF on 3/09/07 so it is still under warranty.

Wow no charge?

Just got off the phone with AF. They are going to put a NEW valve in.

Great please let me know as I am still thinking about what to do, buy the new valve or buy a custom valve????

Randy

Hey Randy,

I could not get a definitive from AF as to whether or not they are going to put a new valve in. I explained to Rachael @ AF that the gun would not fire on a 3000PSI fill. She told me to send it in and AF would take care of it at no charge to me. She did not say that AF would put a new valve in. It has been an assumption on my part. Nor would she confirm that AF has actually produced a new valve. Think I’ll give AF a call right now and see what the deal is.
Thanks for reminding me.

Hey DH, is Airforce doing the valve upgrade to your bottle for free if not what are they charging you?

Hi!, i live in Cancun Mexico. The dealer is a store in Monterrey city called “El Diabolo”. The bad news is, they dont do international shipping, so if youre in the US (or anywhere but Mexico), i dont think youll be able to get it from them 🙁

Darn, too bad. How about we trade places eh (nudge) 😛 Being that you live in Cancun and all, hell you can even have my other half and her ankle biters lol….so whaddya say? Ha.

Hey Benzin where’d ya get that new one from? maybe i can look them up in my search for the right supplier. Hopefully I wont have to go through what you did. I am glad you can actually enjoy your gun now.

Thanks for the info. I don’t have a chrony either so I too go by the “feel” of things. I believe I am a pretty good judge of how my Condors are shooting. Anyway, I sent my bottle to AF a few days ago for the “upgrade”. I’m anxious to see how my .22 will behave with the new valve.

Thanks,

DH

Benzin,

Are you filling your bottle to 3000PSI? If so, do you have to fire off any soft shots before you hit the powerband, or is she good to go from shot one?

DH

When i installed the valve, i did fill to 3000psi a few times to test it, but now i normally fill to only 2800psi. Why? well, to be honest, because i am one lazy bastard! 😛 and the pump gets really hard on those last 500psi from 2500 to 3000. and besides, i figure that filling to only 2800psi puts less stress on the pump, so it will last a bit longer.
NE Way, im sorry i cant provide accurate numbers about the power curve, but like i said before, i dont have a chrony. 🙁
The testing i did, was shoot at a 2″ thick piece of wood, with the power weel on 13 (max). Before the new valve, any attempt to fill over (i think) 1700psi, would result in the shot NOT going thru the piece of wood. And now, even at 3000psi, the piece of wood gets a clean hole thru it from shot one, and i can tell that light pellets (eg CPs) go supersonic from shot one, due to the sound.
Man, i really need a god damo chrony!

Benzin,

my condor is on its 3rd valve, with the one that came with the rifle, and another new one i got, it did not shoot at even 2000psi!!
well this 3rd valve is one of the new ones (its diferent from the prevous 2), and even tho i dont have a chrony to see the numbers, i can tell you, it is a HUGE improvement!. So all you guys that are still wondering about getting one, DONT GIVE IT A SECOND TOUGHT! get it.

BTW, even tho im no expert, im 99% shure the problem was NEVER the return spring, because the spring in this new one is just as hard as the other ones. The problem was allways (i think) that the little black seat got “stuck” in its counterpart at high preasures.

Both pigs took a well placed, carefully timed shot right between the eyes (about an inch and a half above the eyes). They never knew what hit them. Barrels should be interchangable. Best to post that query to people more knowledgable than myself.
