Q:

New LDC line up including Fat Boy

Ok guys, I’ve been MIA for a long long time working on my new designs and waiting for the new lathe that Dman recommended. The machine finally arrived last Friday and it has been really fun. I still can’t make shrouds yet, the machine didn’t come with all the parts that I need. So for guys who are waiting for shrouds, Hopefully I can get the tools soon and get them out to you quick. Promise I’ll make it up to you.

I have 4 new LDCs but I am super excited about the Fat Boy. This is my 4.25 inch x 2 inch OD. With this thing on, my .25 Edgun Matador sounds like the Mutant. I will even go above and beyond and say I think it is even quieter than the Mutant but I’ll let you guys decide 🙂

I have no secrets to keep with my LDC design because with these models, you can unscrew the end caps and see for yourself. I recently purchased a $5k laser cutter to help me take my hobby to the next level. I laser cut 1/4 felt sheets into spacers around the baffles and washers. I pack it in really well and it cushions all the blast.

Yesterday I sent out all the pre-orders and after stopping by the post office, I went home and played with the idea of using 1/4 thick felt as spacers. Drew my design in CAD and let the laser cutter do its thing. Amazing how accurate it cuts. Fits the tube like a glove. Anyways I was blown away by how effective it is. Long story short, I will be sending out an upgrade package to the LDCs that I sent out.

I have a limited number of the Fat boys so if you want one, they are $155 shipped within the US. Someone suggested I make a soup label and include it since it looks like a soup can lol.

All LDCs are $155 shipped

Sizes available are:
6 3/8 x 1.5 Glossy CF
7 5/8 x 1.5 Glossy CF
4.25 x 2 Glossy CF

4.25 x 2 Matte CF

Thank you to all the pre-orders

Hey guys I just want to mention, when you screw on the LDC hold onto the rear end cap to screw it onto the shroud. If you hold onto the tube you will torque it too much and it will be a pain in the butt if you want to unscrew the rear cap from the tube. You do not need to torque it too much either. Same thing with the shroud, hang onto the OEM shroud when you screw on the LDC. If you are holding onto the gun and torquing the LDC, the shroud will screw tighter onto the barrel. Hope that makes sense. Let me know if you have any questions.

PM the man or send email to donnydu@gmail.com

How do you go about placing an order?

Take it easy I am brand new here and its my first post….

Man, Im looking forward to you getting the .25 Priest and putting the Fat One on it! And Nice report.

I wanted to add one thing. When I installed the fatboy I had a pretty significant shift in POI. Like 4 mils at 35yards. If this happens to you take a moment and just adjust your scope. This POI shift is coming from a change in the harmonics of the barrel. My groups are very tight with fatboy but since when it is fully tightened onto my AT44 it comes into contact with the gas tube, things happen. This minor contact causes my barrel to bend ever so slightly and increasingly with more torque on the fatboy and that is the source of the shift. So that post about not over torquing isn’t just for the threads on the actual fatboy, it also could effect your rifle and the groups it makes. Take this into consideration before you think his product is in any way inferior.

I wanted to take a moment to brag about the fatboy I got from Donny. This thing is really well made. I ordered this for my .25 Priest that is inbound but in the meantime decided I would like to use it on my AT44 and damn is this thing effective. I have another option from the guy I bought this one from but it was poorly turned and didn’t work great. It got the job done but this fatboy is just superb. The threading is really nice and even though this is a .22 rifle it works well. I had my son shoot at a target while I stood about 5 feet in front of the gun and there just simply isn’t much noise at all. I was worried at first because this gun is loud both in operation and the mechanics of the hammer hitting the valve. While shooting this one you hear a lot of noise from the mechanism because it is right by your ear but like I said standing a bit away and forward of the gun it is just amazing. You get what you pay for here ladies and gentleman.

Also a shout out to Donny for being an all around cool dude to do business with. I asked him to make this one just specifically for a rare thread which he didn’t have the tap for just before Hurricane Matthew rocked him then later asked for another standard 1/2*20 threaded cap to fit this gun and he delivered pretty quickly. Even had a little hiccup with getting that cap to me and he is making it right and fast. Good work Donny, I really appreciate the level of service from you. 10/10 would recommend.

Solid adviced Donny, makes perfect sense.

the fat boy on the mutant looking good – wonder if the end caps come in black option?

If it is aluminum, anodizing at home is actually really easy and cheap. YouTube is your friend here. I intend to do that with mine that I am getting tomorrow.

Mike,

The weather has been really strange here, no summer either …………….. it rained a lot throughout.
I’m getting mines from John, it should be here in a couple of days ….. green can be a good color.

Greg
Just look down the barrel and line it up and hold it steady while you shoot, I would not try duck tape as it does not hold real good.
I think Dman got my order for an adapter before you so your just going to have to get in line,
Hang in there, I bet it takes a little more time to cross the water to paradise.
You have no Winters right, I am a little green.
Mike

No adapter yet so I have to hold mines by hand ………. if I shoot my fingers off it’s that Dmans fault. :biggrinn:

Thanks Donny it’s a real beaut, can’t figure out how u threaded the CF !!!

~ Greg ………….. peew peew peew

D man makes the adapter also,
Mike

Was it John Hagan who carried those endcaps?

quote Sam63:

Donny a few questions.

What size do you recommend for a Cricket Compact

The Fatboy will screw right on Cricket Compact without an adapter?

My Cricket rifle has the LDC that goes on with a small set screw, it has no threads on the end of the barrel. It needs an adapter?

For a Cricket bullpup, the end cap is glued on. The shroud has to be heated and the end cap pulled off. Afterwards you need an end cap made with threaded end.
