As always, the market demand will dictate the selling price. With the entry of new, high quality, bullpups into the available pool, selling them will eventually become a factor in pricing.
Or, Ed may simply stop sending them to the U.S. However, the other bullpups, being made in Europe, will have a world-wide effect on all airgun sales, so eventually the factor of “Supply and Demand” will determine how much the buying public is willing to pay. Remember, all top end airguns have kept their quality high and the current prices reflect that. The Edguns are not priced any higher than the other top end airguns on the market today.
Result? Prices may eventually drop, but not likely in the immediate future. There’s still too much buyer demand that exceeds the current production levels.

Adham, I believe .20 caliber is a perfect round for this tiny bullpup! You should get excellent accuracy and plenty of knock-down power as well. When it arrives, be certain to post some results for the rest of us to take a look at. With two new calibers available in the Leyla, there will be a lot to talk about!!!

These are the numbers from Ed himself. He didn’t specify which exact pellets but I assume it’s the same across all these specs. I’m going with a .22. Seems like good power down range and lots of pellet selection. Can’t comment on the loudness but it can be tuned down and hopefully still make 20 FPE and add a larger LDC for sound. My reasoning is, even if a .177 can be tuned up for more power or use heavier pellets, it’s still a small pellet that might pass through small game like birds.

I know of several forum members who have indicated the .20 is their choice and no one has indicated any response from Tony that indicates they can’tget that caliber. If interested, better contact Tony soon, as Ed has indicated he will only send what Tony orders, and this may well be a limited production run on this model.

How many of you do think the lelya will perform like or better than a matador short?
IMHO the matadors are great guns with some shortcomings but all of the air rifles out there do have this, none is perfect so you consider carefully the pros and cons before deciding which gun to buy.
A Leyla/Lelya is a micro-bullpup. It will not have the range of power settings that a Matador Short will possess. Even though called a “Short” Matador, it is still a full sized bullpup. The remarkable feature of the Leyla is it’s ability to produce the accuracy and power that Ed manages to squeeze out of it’s tiny frame!
I’ve never read one complaint from a Leyla owner regarding it’s lack of power or accuracy. The sole limiting factors in a “micro-pup” will be it’s short 12″ barrel ,and limited air supply. But remember, a 12″ barrel at 100 yards is equal in accuracy to a 24″ barrel…only velocity (fps/fpe) will be affected, as roughly 50 fps is lost per inch of barrel removed. Even that can be offset with added pressure release from the reg/valve in the Leyla…thus 20 shots from it’s limited air supply.
One must also consider in the past six years that no Edgun has passed through this forum without being stripped, examined, modified, and fps/fpe reduced or increased.

In my opinion the biggest limiting factor of the lelya was the pricing, it was too close to the price of a matador, where you got “so much more gun” for little more money.
Maybe pricing has changed and I really do hope because the guns are competing in completely different leagues.

EDIT: I just saw the pricing and a difference of 600 USD between the lelya and the matador sounds correct. In europe the difference was only about 250 USD and that was simply not acceptable.

I’m still deciding on caliber, .177 or .22 but I have a UTG Compact Swat for it. Seems like the perfect scope for that size gun.
.22 cal lelya on order. HELL YEAH!!!!! If the lelya is anything like my R3 in quality and performance, I will be a happy camper. I was just shooting my .25 cal long this weekend and it is spot on after almost three years. 80 shots at 45 ft lbs from 210 bar to 90 bar with a 16 fps ES. Seems to be getting better with age 😀 Only down side is that it is a little long if that is an actual down side at 34 inches. I remember when that kind of performance was achievable with guns 45 inches plus. Ed is the man!!!!!!
I plan on using my lelya to harvest doves, bunnies, quails, and other tasty critters when I hike trails and park next to some farm land. Now to start considering which scope to buy. I’m thinking of getting a Clearidge RM mildot for $245. What are you guys planning to stick on your lelyas?

I ordered the .25 lelya mainly for poisonous snakes. I lived in a copperhead infested area. That power range will work well, and might even get used on a trap line once I figure it out.
