Also I have an important added note that had happen to my Lelya while I was into a chrony string.
That if after which you made this adjustment above with installed new pellet probe O-rings and still experiencing a buff of air out of the breech.
There is another issue that is entirely separate from the bolt adjustment that you may need to address or Blowback/puff of air will be a continuing occurrence.

….. more to follow on this soon.

.

Before purchasing my Lelya I’ve studied the Blowback issues, read and watch videos on the subject to conclude that this is by far the easiest and require no guess work.

:8: The BEST advice on how to adjust the bolts depth !

Depth of the bolt adjuster screw.
Defined: By -x356b

The adjuster screw at the back of the slide sets the depth of the bolt when the slide is all of the way forward. The bolt needs to be far enough forward for a toggle on the bolt assembly to flip into a pocket in the breech assembly and lock the bolt in the forward position for firing.
The toggle is forced out of the pocket when the slide is pulled back, which allows the bolt to move rearward for reloading.
I did the following to adjust the bolt depth:

1. Loosen/back out the adjuster screw a couple of turns. This should allow the bolt to remain far enough back that the toggle will not engage in the pocket. A shot fired in this condition should result in that annoying breech blast.

2. With the slide all of the way forward, slowly tighten the adjuster screw. At some point, as you tighten the screw you will hear the toggle click up into the pocket in the breech assembly. I tightened the screw 1/8 turn beyond this point to allow a bit more clearance for the toggle to click into place.

I’m not sure this is the recommended procedure, but so far it is working for me.
I was uncomfortable with the looseness of the adjuster screw, so I put a bit of blue Loc-Tite on it.

In one of his videos, Ed describes two different modes of breech malfunction.

The first is when the bolt does not lock up properly. This is the really annoying condition where the bolt moves back far enough to allow a blast of air to get past the bolt.

The second condition is when the bolt moves back a bit during a shot and remains locked up. There’s no air leak, but the bolt will push the slide back slightly. This condition does not appear to be a problem.

When I purchased the Lelya I also bought 2 extra valve stems.

I have a Matador 22 R3M and most of the O-rings I already have.
So I only needed to order theses 4 sizes,

3 x 1mm – 2 pcs Pellet probe for the 20 & 22 caliber.

9 x 1.5mm – 1 pc Regulator piston

18 x 3mm – 4 pcs Regulator, valve body and cylinder front plug

22 х 2mm – 1pc Offset Moderator

Oh and Brian, you can expect a phone call or email sometime soon . When I had my Matador I could always rely on Brian from EdGunWest to straighten me out. You got o-ring rebuild kits and valve stem replacements for the Leyla 2.0?

I really wanted another .177 but couldn’t pass up the opportunity to get a Leyla again and being so compact, it was a no brainer. I should have it in my hands by the end of this week. Wish JSB would add some different weight .20cal. pellets to their ever growing list of ammo.

Hey Gee, Thanks Airbrained !

They are rumors on the reason why 20 cal are in the USA, but please I don’t like to dump it here ………. .

Also a Heads Up on Toshik/Tony Rudenko from EdGun USA he has only 3 NEW 20 cal left in stock now !
https://edgunusa.com/air-guns/10-lelya.html

He told me that he can’t tell what Eds thinking, so don’t know about it being discontinued/out of production or replaced with a R ?
Maybe Brian from West would know some intel but he didn’t have any in stock.

For me it was just a matter of wanting a 20 cal to fill in the dip between 177 and 22, and of course an EdGun to do it with. :biggrinn:

So what is the story with Lelya availability? Are they still being manufactured? Are they available in the US? I have been thinking about getting one for quite some time but they never seem available or when they are there is only one in .20 cal..

It’s guys like you (GKU) with all those damn cool looking pictures and posts that made the Leyla for small game deep woods stalking here in PA a must have!!!

Just agreed to purchase the .20cal. Leyla that’s posted for sale on AGN and Yellow classifieds!!! I’ll take your recommendation GKU on those .20 pellets.

Greg,

Congrats on the Lelya it is absolutely beautiful. You are going to love the functionality of this package out in the field. Do not underestimate the power this platform. I have taken out varmints as large as an adult coyote with mine (one shot, dropped like a sack of potatoes at 43yrs). What makes the Lelya enjoyable for me is the small compact form, function, quietness, power, and accuracy (very accurate).

One item that I have worked on a little is the trigger, as I did not like the long travel. In looking at the stock adjustments I quickly realized it was not conclusive in reducing travel. What I have done is illustrated in the pic attachment. Essentially, I just sleeved the portion of the trigger where the spring tensioner resides. This allows the trigger to set back just a bit. Once the trigger was set slightly back I softened it up with an adjustment to my liking.

In any case, congratulations again as you will absolutely enjoy her. 🙂

Rob

Thank you much Rob, I appreciate all that !

I did a similar trigger mod 2 years ago on my Matador, I used a nylon bushing on the stop pin forwards the trigger blade.
To reduced the first stage travel to about 1/8″ and also brought back the trigger blade location a bit too.
