Q:

Poor quality Cricket barrels

Hi,

We have noticed in Poland that our Crickets have poor quality thread in the barrel. The thread is damaged in the choke section – 2-3 cm starting from the muzzle. The rest of the thread is crystal clear.

Here are some pictures:

Multiple Crickets are affected. This is riddiculus for me.

Guys, please paste your photos. You should remove the silencer and then you can use your mobile phone’s camera LED that is capable of producing strong light. The light should be shed in the loading port. Then you can look into the muzzle. You may be shocked :angrymob:

Yeah. Many money to invest if you ain´t a Gunsmith or a high-end competitive shooter. It´s hard to imagine how much crud there really is inside a barrel you thought you just did a “thorough” cleaning on once you take a closer look with a Scope. 😯

I only wish it was mine and not borrowed. 😳

A bore scope is one fine invention indeed ! 😉

Your barrel looks fine. I scoped mine and they are visibly flawless.

I tried to take a photo of muzzle and it is quite difficult.

Next time I will try again. 👿 There is no see 😐

That kind of defect a few centimeters into the barrel/bore should be easy to see with a bit of light.
To make it easier to see you can push in a VFG felt or a kind 10 cm/4″ from the muzzle end and direkt the light in from the same end. Works well.
There’s nothing wrong in Jans Barrel and i don’t get the hystery around the subject.
Such defect is unacceptable and thus if one finds that threaded ring in ones own Rifle then it’s just to get it fixed thru the dealer/ KalibrGun.
No reason for masshystery Shooter is working for thru every imaginable AG forum on both sides of the Pond. Take one minute of your time, check the Barrel and i quess 98 out of 100 finds nothing more than a reminder : My barrel is due a clean-up …

I´m curious how many crickets were produced with old numbering ??? 00999 or 01000 ? Mine is 00752 I guess 00999 in old numbering. Then they passed to new numbering 22130001 ? :biggrinn: I´´m just speculating 😉

I don’t think so. 22 means it’s a 22 cal, 13 that it’s made in the year of our Lord 2013 and the rest is just a serial number.

my serial # is 22131140

does that mean it was produced november 2013?

I try today take a picture. Yes, mine is from first batches but not from very first batch because it has numbered gauge. The very first batch had colored gauge 🙁

octavius, please take a picture of your barrel. I’m really interested in that because you said that you had that ugly ring inside the barrel but your gun was really accurate.

Regarding numbering… Right now they all have a form of:
2214xxxxx,
where:
22 is cal.,
14 is a year of production,
xxxxx is a sequence number.

If you have 000 in front it means that you have one from the first batches.

…question is what was wrong with the barrels in the fist batch and why they add another washer stack into the regulator? My cricket is not from first batch but is one year old nr. 00752 with numbered gauge but was equipped with plastic stem which was broken after 3000 shots and I had to replaced already…

The valve stems were changed after June 2013 or so = Crickets produced after that (can´t remember from which serial number though) are supposed to come with an aluminium stem.

Mine is made in July 2013 and has an aluminium stem , thank God …

BTW, how hard are you on Off-topic chit-chat here on TAG? 😆

As hard as they come ! You´ll learn … 😯

Thanks. Yeah, I think you’re right Octavius. I do have colored gauge too, hopefully Alex will sort me out there as well, but he was waiting on them from Kalibrgun. He tells me they are real slow to deliver parts.

I think the extra reg washer was just special for the .25 cal, it needs a little extra push along with that larger transfer port in the valve. Haven’t heard anything about any changes in barrels.
