Poor quality Cricket barrels
Hi,
We have noticed in Poland that our Crickets have poor quality thread in the barrel. The thread is damaged in the choke section – 2-3 cm starting from the muzzle. The rest of the thread is crystal clear.
Here are some pictures:

Multiple Crickets are affected. This is riddiculus for me.
Guys, please paste your photos. You should remove the silencer and then you can use your mobile phone’s camera LED that is capable of producing strong light. The light should be shed in the loading port. Then you can look into the muzzle. You may be shocked :angrymob:

One more thing. We noticed that after silencer removal there is gray dust visible on the barrel. Have you noticed something similar? What’s more. The barrel becomes dirty really fast in the choke section. I think this is because that sharp ring inside the barrel.
IΒ΄ll cook up something soon enough. ItΒ΄s kinda hard though since i donΒ΄t have my favorite “nemesis”, Uncle Hoot: to tackle with. I need that cranky old Bastard to get into speed …
Hemn – your Sister should have the RF any day now. She may have received the package already so check with her. :fishinghole:

Yes, it is. However, both 5.5 and 6.35 are affected. I do not know about 4.5.
The choke is extremelly small (1/10 mm or so) reduction of the barrel diameter. It should not be visible that much. I am rather sure that visible ring is a defect.
Guys, all of you are sure that your barrels are fine but you should check them. The fact that Cricket is accurate does not mean that the barrel does not have any defect that can degrade it over time.

Hi Guys,
not trying to defend anybody (don’t have any interest to do so), just trying to understand what those marks could be. :fishinghole:
It seems weird to me that there are so many barrels with those marks around but nobody is complaining about accuracy, actually it’s the other way around.
Just maybe saying something really stupid but could those be some kind of choke markings? (As mentioned in previous post, don’t have any knowledge about this so I apologise in advance)
Do all calibers have those markings or is it caliber specific?

shooter3 – last photo on your post from begin is 6,35 barrel ?

There are bound to be lemons out there too – as with all products. The important part is to get them fixed without delay and cost to the customer.
My both .25 barrels are fine but those are LW barrels.
Will check the .177 barrel once it gets here.

I will try to make some photo of my barrel.
Shooter3 did you try to send the pictures of barrel here ?
kalibrgun@gmail.comthis is no offence to Cricket owners or Company,,,,,, just my poor thoughts :suprisedn: :suprisedn: or encouraging them to put a better quality control on their PRODS
it is really shame that after a years of producing a good quality of guns finally they become to sell a damaged barrels,,, :angrymob: or let not be more tough ,,i can say that this will happen between a hundred thousands of produced guns,, but still we should give a warning letter to them,,,
if i buy guns depending/based on 5 points ,,, i will put/give 3 points out of 5 for accuracy 1 pint for stock 1 for the rest ,,,
Cricket is known for providing a good quality (accurate) of CZ barrels,,, this point (this post) makes me to think that there is a poor barrels quality control in Cricket company for the barrels ,,,they were not check them properly ,,, just receive barrels and install them in the guns (maybe),,,, otherwise this damaged barrel wouldn’t be installed and should have been spotted by their quality controls ,,,
i think barrel (or let say accuracy) is a main reason for being successful for each rifle brand,,,
As Ville suggested,,,you have to return the gun to them and get a new one or at least a new good barrel … this is strange that happen to you,,,i use to read a positive posts on Cricket PCPs …

The grey dust is lead. Happens to all shrouded rifles, with rifle with just a LDC the dust normally gets trapped in the LDC so its normally not noticed.
