pretty sure i am hitting the shroud!!!!!!
so i went to the 100 yard range last week and got a 6 in group, i choked it up to be the high winds and a dirty barrel so i cleaned the barrel and yes it was really dirty! 😯
but after that i brought it inside to my 15.5 yard range inside my house lol and i am getting 1 inch groups with 12 shots. smoe times they will hit the same hole but for the most part i am shooting 1 inch size grouns at almost 16 yds. these size groups have been consistant every time i shot this gun which is almost 350 rounds. and dont think that this is me because the same day i went to the 100 yard range shooting 6inch groups with the cricket i shot a 1 1/2 in group with my 10/22 with cheap bulk federal ammo.
i have been paying very close attention to these marks wiping them everytime i shot and they have always been there after shooting and now it looks like there might be a gauge developing.
how do i fix this??????? i am extremely frustrated with the accuracy of my gun. next time i am going to shoot with out the shroud and see how my accuracy is. i am also adjusting my scope alot because it seems like my POI is changing alot by about a 1/2 an inch here and there at 16 yards.
would lapping the barrel help center my shots in the shroud?
also i carefully check all of my pellets before loading them into my cricket.

Yea it’s over IF you hit the right spot… I shot a pretty good size boar a couple weekends back, and just pierced both ears… went right above the brain cavity and put a perfect round hole in both ears. I just creased the top of his head. He just dropped and immediately jumped up and took off… had trail camera pics of him the next day back under a different feeder eating… he hasn’t been back to that feeder though… Can’t see any evidence he was ever shot. I could see the holes/blood in his ears when he ran off, but he sure healed up fast…
Salt water, your right about that, no sound just SMACK then it’s over…
I tested this last night and it does seem to wobble a little bit but the true test will be shooting with out the shroud.

When turning the shroud on the barrel use the Air tank as a reference to see :
If the wobble is happening on the back end and muzzle tip only, then I would suspect the back cap hole is off centered.
If the muzzle tip wobbles, middle wobbles half as much and the back no wobble, then I would suspect that it the middle treaded section is off centered.
I feel your pain being a new gun and all, hope that this issues get resolved for you soon !

When I’m hunting, I wasn’t worried about noise either, and I was taking the LDC off when I was sitting for hogs, but the thing shoots so well with it on (it has no POI shift whatsoever), Last weekend, I just left it on… pigs (little football sized ones) came in and I shot one… what a LOUD thump!! The rest of the pigs didn’t even flinch from the shot, but when that pellet smacked their buddy up side the head, that scared ’em pretty bad! I never realized a projectile like that made such a noise hitting an animal before! Shooting a powder burner, you never get to hear that sound. It is a LOT louder than an arrow from my bow hitting an animal! That surprised me.
If noise is an issue then Donny’s shroud and LDC are the way to go. For me it isn’t or maybe I just can’t hear it.

I would assume so. I know from reading on line that some Shroud/LDC combinations causes a POI Shift, but on my .25, I shot with factory shroud, no shroud, Donny’s shroud and then Donny’s shroud/LDC combo and hit the same hole with every configuration… I did a lot of shooting combos because Donny and I were trying to figure out when I was getting a slight clipping with his combo whether it was the shroud barrel or LDC that was causing the issue… Once we identified it as a misalignment of the threads on the end cap of his old shroud, he sent me a shiny new one and everything lined up perfect and I’ve been shooting lights out with every combination. These guns are amazing… I was lucky on my .22 version, it was lights out from the get go… I’ve never used the factory shroud with it.

Chad, Mine didn’t, but I did flinch like a son of a gun when I shot it without the shroud. That sucker is LOUD! Second shot, I flinched like a little girl!
should my guns POI change at all with or without the shroud if everything is working correctly???

Forgot one thing, put masking tape over the end of the shroud. Press it hard to make a round indent Then shoot through it. Should be dead center.

it was deffinantly hard to get off but not impossible. then again I don’t know exactly what they use to secure the threads on the shroud so I guess it could have shifted. also I had this issue before I ever even attempted to remove the shroud so I am hoping its the shroud. :sadn:
