pretty sure i am hitting the shroud!!!!!!
so i went to the 100 yard range last week and got a 6 in group, i choked it up to be the high winds and a dirty barrel so i cleaned the barrel and yes it was really dirty! 😯
but after that i brought it inside to my 15.5 yard range inside my house lol and i am getting 1 inch groups with 12 shots. smoe times they will hit the same hole but for the most part i am shooting 1 inch size grouns at almost 16 yds. these size groups have been consistant every time i shot this gun which is almost 350 rounds. and dont think that this is me because the same day i went to the 100 yard range shooting 6inch groups with the cricket i shot a 1 1/2 in group with my 10/22 with cheap bulk federal ammo.
i have been paying very close attention to these marks wiping them everytime i shot and they have always been there after shooting and now it looks like there might be a gauge developing.
how do i fix this??????? i am extremely frustrated with the accuracy of my gun. next time i am going to shoot with out the shroud and see how my accuracy is. i am also adjusting my scope alot because it seems like my POI is changing alot by about a 1/2 an inch here and there at 16 yards.
would lapping the barrel help center my shots in the shroud?
also i carefully check all of my pellets before loading them into my cricket.

Not sure about the threads being off.
Heard of bent barrels but don’t know if it would cause shroud clipping.
You could remove it a roll it on two straight edges rulers to check.
On some guns the shroud is very hard to remove (for some reason the 25 cals mostly) and owners over force twist it off to remove.
The inner thread attachment section gets bent/twisted off centered in the attempt.

i do have a question that often crosses my mind.
is this usually a shroud problem or have you guys seen it be a barrel problem also? and i am not talking accuracy i am more talking the threads that screw the shroud on the barrel.
i am just affraid that i am going to have the shroud swapped and the same thing happens because the threading is just slightly off on the barrel.

I would go with the Earnest tune, If its clipping he will know, He can get the parts to fix it fast I am sure,,,
It will increase the value of the gun, You have every thing to gain and nothing to lose , Its a no brainer

Try to rotate shroud 1/8 of a turn at a time and check to see if poi moves. If it does then it is clipping for sure. You could turn it to the position where it doesn’t clip any more till you get dealer to fix the problem

Dang Chad, sorry to hear you are having problems with your gun! I had a clipping issue with my .25 too, but it wasn’t the factory shroud. I had one of Donny’s early models, and he sent me one of his new design units and all my issues went away… If you get good groups without the factory shroud, your dealer will make it right. Did you get an Earnest tune? If not, you might want to just do that. You won’t believe how smooth that sucker will be when he gets thru with it.

There have been some past reports of defective/bad shrouds going around.
I’d try and get a dealer replacement, your gun is still new and under warranty.

I have done lots of research on the cricket and have read a lot about double loading the pellets and have paid very close attention to this. I have not double loaded or loaded a pellet backwards and I check the baffels everytime I shot also and no damage has been done to them yet. It looks as if the pellets are just slightly grazing the shroud cap. Also I take the shroud off everytime I clean the barrel and I use a crown protector. Also when I put the shroud back on I am making sure that it is very snug. I have also retightened my scope about 5 times hoping that the scope was just moving.

First off I would check the grouping with it off and compare the results.
Remove the shroud and use a flash light and look at the baffle inside edges for dark spots.
A lot of first time owners accidently double load or even triple loading and or loading pellet backwards.
This sometime cause the baffle damage and cause clipping to become continuous.
It doesn’t take much to indent these baffles there’re made very thin.
I don’t even recommend cleaning the barrel with it on, even with a straw.
Cleaning rods can indent them as well.
In any case I would try and get a replacement from your dealer first before trying a fixation.
There is also a tape test I posted a wail back Ill try and find it for you and repost here.

Probably shoot good without the shroud. But I would put a bore light in the breech and look through the shroud down the barrel. If it looks off it probably is. (The eye don’t lie.) When you thread it off and on does it spin true? Muzzle end should spin true. My Cricket shroud is about 4.25″ longer than stock. It’s extention was misalined once. I could see it wobble as I spun it on, (Just a very little) and the bore light confimed it. I’ve two put pellets in the chamber before. I just remove the shroud and fire to clear….GREAT gun when you get it right. Just my thoughts. ❓
