Q:

project no 4.. bolt action

Hi,
here’s some pic of my latest project. Doesn’t look like much yet… As you can see i havent cut the slot for the mag yet; still on backorder (marauder mag). I plan to build a sort of “inertia hammer”, ad modum Daystate merlin. Airbottle will be a frontmounted 600cc item. Valve design pretty much a Rapid copy.
Thanks

great job on it . good idea with the trigger stem skrewing in , cant wait to see it all finished .

does the thing that holds the pellets index on its own ?
if so what is it .

Thanks! The mag is autoindexing. It is actually a mag from a crosman Marauder.. pretty much the cheapest auto indexing mag available!
More pics later tonight!

hi,
i’m pretty much done with the metal part of the build now. Just need to cut a nice trigger blade, swap some screws, and maybe cut a new bolt handle. I have shot it a couple of times in my basement, almost spot on 10m. It’s not that easy to shoot witout a stock…, but it functions well. Had some trouble getting the Marauder mag to feed properly. Turned out that the turned down part of the pellet probe was to long – passing through the mag and letting the mag start to index before the full diam part of the bolt enters the pellet hole.. Took me a while to figure out since you cant see whats happening when everything is mounted. Ihave been using my 280cc bottle when testing; my 600cc bottle has no schrader valve and pumping is not the funniest thing i can think of. Regarding stock design i have always liked the Daystate Air Ranger.. so i’ll probably cut something similar. Or maybe just something along the lnes of my sidelever gun..
some pics;

notice creep set scew on trigger unit. Head of striker has got piece of acetal on striking point, to reduce noice.

Thanks for the input!
i have now reshaped some of the parts and have a working trigger unit! Late last night i also cut the slot in the receiver block, drilled for the cross pin, turned a striker (no “slingshot” yet..) so that i could function test it.
And yes; i messed up the drawings/beer cad files in my previous post. You got to watch those files when working with beer cad!
Heres what it looks like now;
Cheers

It’s BEER CAN CAD Walter…ya gotta flip it over…or look a pic or two earlier in the thread where the trigger group is oriented with the reciever.

Rather doubt the barrel points backwards.

Maybe too much beer in the CAD…or should that be can? 😆

looking good , may want the trigger changed a lil .from the drawing 🙂
i assume the hammer raises the sear when its fuly cocked. neat idea.

good catch

that trigger will not work

Hi,
some more pics of the trigger unit.. The unit will be pinned to the receiver block, using the top sear pivot pin, and bolted in the front end of trigger housing. Hope to get it done tonight.

[What version of CAD is that? Looks really good, almost 3D and kind of ‘drawn’ 😯

I’ve upgraded to the brand new “3D Beer Can CAD system”! Highly recommended 😀 First emptying the beer can helps the creative process…

Added a few springs and an “uptake adjustment screw tonight. I makes a nice “click” when cocked. still some fileing and poishing to do… I’ll post some pics tomorrow.
Cheers

Hi,
haven’t had much time for machining.. not much to show this time. First a pic of the complete valve (less return spring).

also made the adaptor a bit less chunky

Thanks
