Q:

Shiney Thing !!!

Start of new project ,this being a lump of 128x70x30 6082 T6 alloy for my 8 shot rotary mag bullpup. Ive got to put a 14mm hole all the way through this on my tiny lathe for the probe and barrel to line up and a 15mm x 90mm deep hole for the hammer to travel . This all done on an 8″ lathe is going to be scary ! ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

Putting it in a four jaw chuck on a 6mm hold is looking the only way of machining it .Its going to be quite a mass to swing at any speed but il see ๐Ÿ™‚
So as with the last gun this is going to take an absurd amount of time to complete and very likely to drag on for far too long. It may also be a no starter if i cant machine these to holes but arfter spending 4 months finalizing the drawings i realy want to give it a go .So L8ter all …….Much Later hehe ๐Ÿ˜€

Little more done ๐Ÿ˜• , ends capped with oak strip and walnut supplied by Rabbits. At the moment im going through the faze of “ive made the ugliest gun in the world ! ” ๐Ÿ˜ฏ . Needless to say this wasnt the plan when i started and hopefully will not finish up this way !. The real T4 carbine which i like the look of , has alot deeper , thicker stock which maybe suites the large breach but i always try and go lighter. Going to make a alloy butt plate and have ago at checkering the pad area, ( remember ……im wasting large amouts of my life on this just for the eye candy……LoL ) ,its just for fun ! ๐Ÿ˜€ , Its still at the rough stage so more will be shaved off here and there , MAYBE from the ugly ducking will raise………….. some fire wood …………..damit ๐Ÿ™„

L8r all ……….did i put my drink down !

well mate your getting there ain,t u well done . looking a real nice project . now what sort off wood r u talking about for your stock i have a few bit off american black walnut laying in the shed i,ll send u down if u want just let me know the size . oh ye and get your fiddleing fingers wiorking and make me one off they tools i would do with one lol

Just a teaser of the stock and the next 2 months of sanding ive got in stall ๐Ÿ˜• . Both ends of the stock will be caped with darker hardwood to give it some colour. Got to make a new trigger ( not that i liked the old one ) as the trigger needs to be set back abit more towards the grip. One of the problems with this design is the pivot point of the trigger being far forwards and the long throw of the cocking arm , ment that there wasnt much room at the back of the breech for material on the stock. Just more fiddling ๐Ÿ˜€

I havent got a ball turning tool so this is the ball tool i made to machine the 28mm cut for the air cylinder. Its just a 2mm thick disc that got 45 deg angles on both sides , milled both sides to the mid point to form a cutting edge then hardened. It works quite well and would of worked better if i didnt test it out on a piece of wood with a nail in it …..Doohhh!!! . Got lazy and just re-sharpend it , worked fine ๐Ÿ˜€

Till my next thrilling instalment L8r all………….wheres my beer !!!!

As you know Marc you get to the point on any build when you need to just get away from it ๐Ÿ˜• , needless to say i reached that point two weeks ago ! . Ive started again with finishing the safety catch and block rounded off and finished , im just about to sand blast and then get it engraved. At this point of the build there just small changes and i dont think pics would be of much intrest. The weather here has been crap so i couldnt start the stock but ive got to start soon and figure out how to fit a scope ……. Dohhh!. ๐Ÿ˜ฏ
A combination of my illness and being to good at my job has lead to a cash flow problem which means im having to work like a cheap hooker at the mo! ……… $50 me love you long time !!!…….damit its never smooth ! ๐Ÿ˜€
Ive been mainly making a silencer for my T10 as i need it for my hunting permission. Its 200 acres of rabbit infested country side , woods and hay meadows. Got to go there soon to look keen and chill out while the bunnies take the pain for once …hehe ๐Ÿ˜€ . So again its about not having enough time ……and we all know about that dont we !
Il be back later to finish it off
Take it easy all ๐Ÿ˜€

Hey Buda,

How are you! How’s the rifle comming along?

Regards,

Marc

Chears mate. You deserved it!

Regards,

Marc

Thanks Marc and i agree with your post. Sometimes i think about getting back into engineering and having all that tooling and machinery to use but then i know i would be very unhappy quite soon and thats what life is not about. So i think il stick with the few private jobs i take on and see where that leads. ๐Ÿ˜€
Ive just spent a great 2 1/2 days in hospital with kidney stones (which is one painful f****r i can tell you) listening to the morphine induced last stories of a second world war bomber comand navigator before he takes his last flight ๐Ÿ™ . He lead one hell of a life i can tell you and is one lucky chap (one bail out ,one crash fully laden bomb load and the piolt killed on one mission) thats come to such a sad end in a NHS hospital.
Got out today, on the same day , my Dad died at the same hospital 4 years ago. Its been one hell of a week …….time for a drink …..L8r all

Just registered and saw the guys rifle. That is amazingly awsome. Just one thing I have to say is this.

Although he has made an amizing design. Designing something with his machine capabilties is a lot easier. I regularly have to toss a lot of idears becouse it’s practically undoable on my limited machining and toooling.

That’s not to say his creation is outstanding.

Hope it’s ok I post this pic here? The guy is also active on LD’s forum

But So is yours. I might just say it’s even a greater achievement than his as you have limited machining capabilitys.

Keep up the work Buda!!!

Regards,

Marc

Opps …sry youve got to register to see the ” Your Projects ” page , but its well worth it . Heres alittle tease …….

As you can see you can do alot more with industrial machines and tooling lol.
You may have to wait to get your acount authorized before you can log on . ๐Ÿ˜€

edit…I saved the pict and reposted it for you ๐Ÿ˜€ WOK

I cant seem to get to that page you linked. At first it told me I had to register. I did. Then it tells me I have to register and log on but also says Im logged in on the next line.

First and second stage trigger is just for feel ,its realy about knowing when the shear is going to release. First stage will just be the trigger engaging with the shear ,about 1mm of movment, then you feel the trigger tighten against the shear. Yep i could of made the trigger with the shear and it would of been “crisp” but i dont think you get the same feeling.
As far as the mag im looking for two 1mm thick O-rings which i think will be soft enough to get out of the probes way but ive yet to find the size i want. Think im going to have to test a few sizes out and yep im going to have to mess with the probe. Theres only so much angle i can put on the probe before it interferes with the O-ring seal on the bore.
As far as the best home made gun ? well i would like to think i would be up there but it is a copy and not all my own work. If you want a look at something realy stunning then ….

Its a redesign (but arent they all) and he cheated ( LoL ) abit by using CNC mills and industrial tooling where he works but its still REALY nice and shows his skill in design and machining.
L8r all ๐Ÿ˜€

quote Buba b:

Got the shear done with homemade spring ๐Ÿ˜€ , needed alittle adjustment for it too work but its looking good . The shear looks like its got a good 2nd stage with enough movment but im gona mess around abit as i would like some more adjustment . No trigger at the moment as im still cutting that out of stainless plate but it will be shaped and stippled to finish.

The vid shows the gun cocked and fired twice with the hammer spring in place. Got to do a dry run with air in the cylinder to see which spring rate will be required to knock the valve open but i need to get my lathe back in action to do that …..damit ๐Ÿ™ . Think this is with the lightest spring of 6lbs and its easy to cock , got springs of 8 and 12 lb if needed.

That spring possibly robbed from one of the woman’s wooden clothes pins? IMPRESSIVE! Thinking on the run and improvising to suit the purpose are admirable achievements in themself.

If my lathe hadnt gone pants on me i would say im nearing the finish ๐Ÿ˜• . Ive got the wood for the stock but i think im going with a carbine rather than a bullpup , just because ive got ideas that couldnt be put on this design . On a good note ive just managed to get shooting permission on a farm of 200 acres full of rabbits so the bunnies better watch out ๐Ÿ˜€

As far as “get your finger out and get it finished ” Rabbits ! i would mate but you explaine why im in my shed to the girlfriend and walk away………..ALIVE…… ๐Ÿ˜€ …. LoL
L8r ALL ๐Ÿ˜€

A larger diameter Oring would fix the problem? Maybe larger and thinner? Also, what if you smoothed out the “probe” so that it would push the Oring up instead of biting into it?

That is quite the achievement. How are you going to remedy the magazine oring problem?

Just curious. Why do you want a first and second stage? Just for the feel? Couldnt you have just attached your trigger to that back sear for a crisper release?
