Q:

Shiney Thing !!!

Start of new project ,this being a lump of 128x70x30 6082 T6 alloy for my 8 shot rotary mag bullpup. Ive got to put a 14mm hole all the way through this on my tiny lathe for the probe and barrel to line up and a 15mm x 90mm deep hole for the hammer to travel . This all done on an 8″ lathe is going to be scary ! ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

Putting it in a four jaw chuck on a 6mm hold is looking the only way of machining it .Its going to be quite a mass to swing at any speed but il see ๐Ÿ™‚
So as with the last gun this is going to take an absurd amount of time to complete and very likely to drag on for far too long. It may also be a no starter if i cant machine these to holes but arfter spending 4 months finalizing the drawings i realy want to give it a go .So L8ter all …….Much Later hehe ๐Ÿ˜€

well well mate u realy r comeing out with one off the best home made guns i,ve seen to date your a credit to us all .. now lets c how u come out with the stock mate lol

The trigger group was cut out by hacksaw and the milled . Its the one thing im realy happy about as it is realy smooth second stage. Ive still got to make the spring for the trigger (first stage) so i should get the adjustment i want. To machine the round area on the shear i drilled the center hole , pinned it to the table ,then moved an end mill to size and turned the part against the cutter. All true and square without having to set up the rotary table ๐Ÿ˜€
Think im getting about 11lbs at the moment ,as its punching holes in the yellow pages , the same as my T10.
Now going to post on a Russian forum , as i know they cant wait to abuse me some more for making it ” Russia corrupted by the English scum”. Just for fun as i cant understand a word of there abuse LoL

I really like that trigger mech. The way it releases must be smooth as hell. How did you cut those out, by hand?

Finaly got my lathe up and running so i could finish the barrel off. At the moment im not so sure about the barrel . When i clocked the bore of the barrel the outside was .25mm / .0099″ out of concentric . I was expecting everthing to be in alinement ….this normal or have i got a bad barrel ?. But until i get a scope on it ! il have to wait and see! .

Filled to 150bar , cocks and indexess the mag fine , have to get Mcmikes chrono on the laptop to see what its pushing out. It must be pretty powerfull , as it shot the music dead in the clip …….hehe

So im gona round afew edges , shot blast and get some engraving done before anodising. As yet i havent decided if its going to remain silver or black …hmmm. Got to harden the trigger group and the safety catch to finish .
This is the last problem ive got …..and its pretty bad ๐Ÿ™ .When i cut the groove in the outside of the mag where the O-rings sit, i said to myself that it was too deep and then forgot about that and did the rest to the same dimension !.

The problem is as the probe is pushed forwards it snaggs on the O-rings . Now i havent yet managed to get the O-rings i want , so maybe it will be ok but if not ive got to come up with a plan to fix the mags . Making new ones is not an option ๐Ÿ‘ฟ .
So far ive got the idea of drilling between the pellet holes and placing a pin in to push the diameter out ……as always im open to ideas!

So its nearly finished ๐Ÿ˜€
Time for a beer L8r all ๐Ÿ˜€

tell here your makeing here something she might like u use against u lol ๐Ÿ˜ˆ

Got the shear done with homemade spring ๐Ÿ˜€ , needed alittle adjustment for it too work but its looking good . The shear looks like its got a good 2nd stage with enough movment but im gona mess around abit as i would like some more adjustment . No trigger at the moment as im still cutting that out of stainless plate but it will be shaped and stippled to finish.

The vid shows the gun cocked and fired twice with the hammer spring in place. Got to do a dry run with air in the cylinder to see which spring rate will be required to knock the valve open but i need to get my lathe back in action to do that …..damit ๐Ÿ™ . Think this is with the lightest spring of 6lbs and its easy to cock , got springs of 8 and 12 lb if needed.

If my lathe hadnt gone pants on me i would say im nearing the finish ๐Ÿ˜• . Ive got the wood for the stock but i think im going with a carbine rather than a bullpup , just because ive got ideas that couldnt be put on this design . On a good note ive just managed to get shooting permission on a farm of 200 acres full of rabbits so the bunnies better watch out ๐Ÿ˜€

As far as “get your finger out and get it finished ” Rabbits ! i would mate but you explaine why im in my shed to the girlfriend and walk away………..ALIVE…… ๐Ÿ˜€ …. LoL
L8r ALL ๐Ÿ˜€

god mate this is realy going to some build nice one . oh by the way get your finger out and get it finnished lol ๐Ÿ˜›

Small spring…
Have you tried using a little “scissor” spring from a swiss army knife? Victorinox brand uses a little flat like spring that would work great…

love the music . looks like it works great , long process with the little tweeks once it get down to shootin time , but you got them .
wish you went with the magnet idea .lol.

As always…Awesome

You talented sucker you!

I remade the brass slider and stainless indexing arm , wasnt happy with the others when i tried to put the spring in. The new arm is shorter and the spring fits into the brass slider better , so im alot happier with it . ๐Ÿ˜€

In the end i went with a piece of piano wire bent to shape ,this was first suggested on another forum and works well. The flat spring was very tricky to fit so il leave that for later .Jezx also suggested the vee groove in the arm which ive done and that keeps the spring nicely centralised . ๐Ÿ˜ฏ ……..tooo much coffee ….lol

Got my BSA barrel at the cost of ยฃ69 and the 3 stainless springs for the hammer cost an amazing ยฃ18 ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

So arfter 7 hours of tweeking i finaly got it to index smoothly ,the mag lines up fine and locks into place ๐Ÿ˜€ . The trouble i had was with the bearings on the cocking handle , they were binding as i pushed the handle forward. Think ive got it sorted but time will tell with more testing ๐Ÿ˜•
The vid shows the cocking (with no hammer spring) and how messy my kitchen is as a result of making this dam thing !, power is rated as gravity ! and the acceracy is piss poor , ๐Ÿ™ i only just managed to hit the cooker cover with the 8 pellets and i obtained minimal damage to the cooker cover , theres still work to be done …..hehe!

So i can finish the breach block still more to come off and go to work on the barrel which is abit of a long job. Il have to get the steel for the trigger group and see how hard it is too cock. This week im working like a bitch so not much will be done this week but il be back ๐Ÿ˜€ L8r all ๐Ÿ˜€

well you could put a magnet on the catch and then another under the catch . lol .
just kidn , the spring would be way easyer .
to think ive been working stanlss steel for many years and didnt see it ,
i have made a few thins with round spring like that , you could drill a small hole in the brass on a bit of an up angle on the end of the slot , then just “V” the botom of the catch and let the round rod ride in the V .

Thks for the ideas all , sometimes i just come up blank ๐Ÿ™ , which is where you lot come in. ๐Ÿ˜€
Tape measure looks good and even ive made flat springs out of feeler gauges …….Dohhhh! ,ive got both laying around so il check it out. Magnets would be an intresting idea and im sure there be powerful enough but my arm is made of non metalic stainless steel , so il have to stick with a flat spring .
Thks all L8r ๐Ÿ˜€

Buba,

I have used feeler gauges for flat springs in the past. The work well.

>>> flat spring >>
not sure it is posable but you could slot a small section in the under side on the oposit of the pivot and use a magnet , there are some realy strong little ones .( in cd palyers there are some that hold the lazer , about 3mm x8 mm ), if you sloted the bottom im sure it would have enough pull to lift the catch end .
just tryn to help.
