Q:

Shiney Thing !!!

Start of new project ,this being a lump of 128x70x30 6082 T6 alloy for my 8 shot rotary mag bullpup. Ive got to put a 14mm hole all the way through this on my tiny lathe for the probe and barrel to line up and a 15mm x 90mm deep hole for the hammer to travel . This all done on an 8″ lathe is going to be scary ! 😯

Putting it in a four jaw chuck on a 6mm hold is looking the only way of machining it .Its going to be quite a mass to swing at any speed but il see 🙂
So as with the last gun this is going to take an absurd amount of time to complete and very likely to drag on for far too long. It may also be a no starter if i cant machine these to holes but arfter spending 4 months finalizing the drawings i realy want to give it a go .So L8ter all …….Much Later hehe 😀

great stuff . im sure it will work out great . ive not seen that style of gun up close before, your pictures are so good i feel like i could give one a go an try and build one . (maybe not)
cant wait to see it going .

as for the rotary table .. for the price of a good one you can picup a 2axis dro which will do 1-200 bolt holes patterns and cut circles ,angles . works great for cyliners and sutch . rotary tables are a awesome thing to have though , much faster then dro circle cutting by hand . i never thought id buy one before but theyr great and easy to use .

looks like a 4″ ‘er, I’m debating with myself over 4″ or 6″

Alright Buba!,

I got to get me a rotary table. Which size are you using on your mill. As for the belt drive I wish I broke my gear long ago. It is a great improvement all the way around and last forever!

Love your stuff as always you big Tattooed Hooligan! 😛

Looks great Buba, as always. I have some questions regarding your mill but I will start another post so I dont mess up this one.

Got back to it 😀 , i finaly got round to finishing and fitting my belt drive 😀 . The middle gear had finaly had enough of life on this planet and decided to commit suicide 🙁 . So i had no choice and thank God i did !,its just so quite i cant believe it. With those gears going full tilt i would have been deaf before finishing these dam magazines. Been making a jig to hold the mags as when the chuck was bolted to the table i didnt have enough room for the drill. Every things got to be hard ……..Dam it 🙁

Got 3 of the mags done , buggered the fourth just getting use to the dividing head , im not completly happy with them as theres a 0.1mm runout on one of the holes 😕 . I can only asume that it the dividing plate but il have to have a strip down of the rotary table later.

Dont think the run out is going to matter to much as the pellet holes are .15mm bigger than the pellets and the probe when pushed through the mag should centralise the mag against the indexing lever with is sprung and will have some give in it 😕 😯 😕 .

Well thats the plan and im sticking to it ………..unless it dont work …..the il change the plan ……..( terms and conditions apply ) 😀

L8r all …………..thank F**** the sites speed is back 😀

😀 ….. HAIL THE LEADERS OF TAG ….. 😀

Thats some nice work buba, I’m still trying to wrap my mind around how it all works/goes together, let alone trying to make something myself (though I will be doing just that)

hoping that blobnob will help enlighten me 😀 (hint, hint)

wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwooooooooooooooooooo mate nice job looks realy sweet

Fantsastic work Sir! And know what you mean. If my customer just had a clue of just how much work went into one of My Lovett Knives. For years I was lucky to break even. Now days my work is highly collectable. But it took 30 years to get there!!! Now I can’t afford one. LOL! I would hate to guess what a “one of” such as you are building would really be worth!

Looking Good! MIke

Cocking handle and probe finished , third go at the probe 👿 ,did a sloppy cut on one and dropped the other so it bent the probe end …errrr! 👿

It cocks realy smoothly ! ,much to my suprise 😀 and the ball bearings lock the probe solid. Theres alittle bind at the end of the cocking stroke which a go with the needle files will sort.

I trying to order a barrel but BSA (cost £40) had trouble with there forging machine which left them with a back log. Cheapest barrel ive seen so il have to wait 😕 . Been having fun with my metal supplier 🙁 (cost of alloy went up by £200 per tonne this month ) anyone would think cash is dirt to them but think ive got wot i want on the way. My mills gear finaly gave in , so if i cant fix at least i should be able to get my belt drive up and running. Steel on order for trigger group and im now turning the mags in the lathe ,just wondering if to risk metal or buy more plastic for the milling 😕 . Just need some time ………..hmmm!
L8r all 😀

I know the feeling alright buda.

What size delrin do you need. I’ve got some 40mm laying around. Pm your adres and I’ll send you some if you can use it. You’d use it to get some feel of the product. Once you get 3 done in delrin You make one or 2 in ali and you get the gun a bit sooner!

regards,

marc

Thats a good idea Marc , couldnt see why it wouldnt work in derlin , if only i had derlin that size 🙁 . Besides you never know , it might turn out alright ( as if ! ) and then id be gutted i did it in plastic, thats the way it would go i just know it …..i bet you know that feeling Marc LoL 😀

My tip! Make it in Delrin first. Easy to machine and to get a feel for the machining actions!

Looks super!

Regards,

Marc

it’s amazing how many operations even “simple” things can take to make 😯

As you say Adam ,if someone dosnt understand engineering they just dont get what you have to do to make a working product im afraid !. They dont want to pay the money for it as a result. An example of one hole : center drill ,pilot hole 3mm , 5.2mm drilled hole , 5.6mm reamer , 45 degree chamfer tool , then for indexing arm ,3mm slot drill ,adjust geometry for a 3.4mm radius centered from each pellet hole , and then two striaght milling cuts on differant geometry each 😯 and finaly chamfer the other side , SO THATS 10 opps x 8 pellets = yep you can do the maths 😀 ….hehe and i want 3 mags. Alot of setting up time to add on aswell 😀 .Il have a bottle of Magners on the go while im at it 8)

Just wait until you see my semi-auto im drawing at the mo 😯 its getting way out of hand …….hehe…….see if i build it 😀
L8r all

9 operations per hole?…..Sounds like a wild party…LOL.

One fella asked how long it took to make the my butt piece. I told him on the simple part that attaches to the tank takes at least 20 separate steps as you know that is what it takes when you are using a manual mill. Cuting, milling, center drilling, drilling, tapping, countersinking, sanding, blasting.

Gotta to love it

What you are doing just blows my mind due to the complexity.
