Shooting Chrony lights, and no more incandescent bulbs
I just got online to order a light kit and found LED offerings from Shooting Chrony now too. I suppose this is in response to no more incandescent bulbs being made law ?? Has anyone tried the LED’s They are a lot more expensive, I could buy the old style for cheap at AD but not sure I can buy bulbs for them now let alone down the road.

If you wanna go portable, how many volts? 12V = small MC battery?

My solution (150 lumens total, works pretty well):
Be sure that it’s not “blinking” when changing intensity otherwise you get error. Highest level usually constant on and they pulsate on the lower settings due to PWM but some use Vc instead and will work regardless of which setting…

Yes, may be alternative diffuser is necessary to do. When I put those puck lights on highest position I got error message due to some sensor did not see pellet… then I put it in the middle (without extension rods) and there I have “feeling” the lights are too bright. 😳
Yesterday I checked with mobile camera flickering. I did not noticed flickering 😳 There is now PWM regulation probably… For better checking I must open it…
Looked at those @ our local DIY shop but didn’t buy them but I did the camera test and it looked like it didn’t blink. At less then 15$ for two it’s worth a try and I’ll pic a pair up next time I’m there, maybe make an alternative diffuser that’s a bit more transparent and with the lights attached.

My experience showed me that too much light gave me error messages just like direct sunlight does. When I shined them through the diffuser (the one you use on bright sunny days) I got consistent readings. The readings matched my friend’s chrony also. The speeds and POI also matched the ChairGun graph fairly well.

Thanks Akay. Too much light will chrony measure higher or lower results? Because lower light is bad because one of the sensors will not see pellet…

Yes, those are the “Larry” ‘s I use. They work great. Battery powered and useful for may low light situations. I end up placing them on the sunlight shield, shinning down through the diffuser. Too much light will mess with chrono.

Before you buy any LED to your chrony take a look at it thru your mobile camera. Much easier to see if it blinks and if it does it wont work, the same with fluorescent light
