Q:

Status of the E-TaCREG and other musings.

Hello everyone,

I want to thank you all for your support on my E-TaC venture. But first, the important stuff…

I have begun testing the E-TaCREG..this is the model that will use a paintball (JDS or xpert air) reg built into the E-TaC. It will use a HPA bottle only. Having good success, but won’t release it for sale until I can attest to its durability.

The E-TaC-T-REG is behind schedule.(This is the regulated model that will be made for the Talon/Condor bottle) My quest for a high quality regulator has taken me high and low; and finally, I MAY have a solution that will blow you mind….remember, I said MAY. The current situation is that I have to wait until mid March to begin negotiations with the well-known maker of high quality regs. The entity is interested, but has another obligation that has put me on hold.

This is great news for all of us and I hope it comes to fruition. We’ll all have to wait and see.

Regarding the E-TaC in general, I am humbled by the kind words, and numerous orders I’ve received. I dont’ think it’s polite to say exactly how many are sold, but suffice to say I am half-way to my goal of world domination…LOL. I have sent E-TaCs all over the world. South America, Canada, England, Spain, Portugal, Sweden, the Netherlands all have users.

The current E-TaC is removable, and about a half-inch longer than the original E-TaC. This presented a problem with the check-valve in the Foster fitting to fall into the E-TaC upon filling because there was no valve behind it to hold it in. I rectified that with a short piece of aluminum tubing located under the valve. That problem is solved.

I also found that the Talon and Condor frames are not all the same. Some have commented that the fill nipple might just contact the frame. Even though they clear my frame at the shop. I am working to see if I can lower the fill nipple even further, or find a shorter fill nipple. I may end up grinding off about .010 of the nipple to give it more clearance.

Anyway, just thought I’d give you all an update and let you know I haven’t forgotten about all of you and things are going very well at E-TaC central.

I appreciate all your support and look forward to bringing the newest regulated versions to market.

Regards,
Jim

Any body know if the JDS regs can be adjusted, it would be pretty sweet if they could be adjusted from the outside.

Would the 2500psi regulator take up more room?

I have ordered a couple o f E-TaCREGs from Jim for my 22 & 25 condors . Like many I’m not sure about what regulated pressure will work best but I’m going to order a 48ci bottle & reg set to 2200psi from JDS tomorrow , As soon as I receive them & get everything set up I will post prelem results, Between hammer weight , TH , PW and reg pressure their are alot of adjustment possibilities . Thats one of the things that make this rifle so much fun . I think this may be the next step in making this amazing rifle ( to me ) even better ,

Hey all,

I am indeed making E-TaCREGS. As with all new products, there were a few, ummmm, samples, made during the first production run.

Found out that I can’t make the fluting nearly as deep because there is a chamber inside that makes the walls thinner than the E-TaC. Also, thought I could make a nice big wrench flat on each side to put better description…but alas, the wall thickness squashed that idea.

Looks good for having at least a few examples ready for black tomorrow. Many more are in various stages of machining, but only a handful will be 100% finished (and correct:roll:).

After I get enough done tonight, I’ll finish the instruction manual. Yeah, unfortunately I will need to make one of them. The JDS regulator will have to be taken apart (very simple for anyone who can use an allen wrench without drawing blood) and insert the correct parts into the E-TaCREG’s backside. Shims and O-ring will be supplied as before. There will be no provision for timing the bottle to the reg or the reg to the E-TaCREG, only the important part, the E-TaCREG to the rifle.

As always, I appreciate all your support and will start a new thread when the blackness happens.

Regards,
Jim

Jim is sounds like you are getting things together as you know I have been watching this, You posted a shot string I will look for it later but seems to me a guy has to do his homework to get what he wants, tank size pressure, what fps with a particular pellet weight, length of all this when put together, straight Etac or canted, try and figure out shot count you would like 🙄 I think what you are doing is great but for some it is going to be a bit confusing? like I am now LOL!! anway any formula to know what we want or do we just make sure we do our homework and order the right things? I know you are busy trying to make up some of the Etac’s! and we do get out reg and tank from JDS Air Man correct? Just throwing something at you in a freindly way because I know there are going to be several that just won’t know what they should order 😉

quote Shoot Shovel & ShutUp:

Ok Jim
3.5 “” for JDS reg & E-TaCREG + 8.2″” for 48ci bottle = about 12″” which iis the same as standard talon bottles.

Hey Sam,

Shoots puts it as well as can be said. Getcha a 48ci tank and it will be like an Airforce tank.

The 53ci tank is even shorter…hint hint for our member with short arms.

Regards,
Jim

Well I’m confused (BIG surprise there) What setup would equal a stock setup? I’d like a shorter/fatter tank for more shots, shorter so that the reg/etac/tank=stock.

That is correct.

Jim

So the reg + etac will be 3.5″?

Shoots,

You are correct, the E-TaCREG and AF bottle make for a long LOP; 17-inches.

This will indeed be prohibitive to some. However, I did mount the prototype and did not find it unreasonable for my 5-11″ frame; some will.

I’m always looking for ways to make them shorter.

Jim

Ok Jim
3.5 “” for JDS reg & E-TaCREG + 8.2″” for 48ci bottle = about 12″” which iis the same as standard talon bottles . Sounds great ! probaboly what i’ll buy . Question is about the JDS reg for talon bottle , will this and the E-TaCREG add 3.5 “” to talon bottle ? If so I don’t see to much market for it . That would be a lot of LOP .
Also there will probably be a market for a nice cover & but plate for the 48 ci bottle .

Thanks marmot, that cleared up my questions. I actually do have a Hawke sidewinder 30, you can tell your friend he has a very happy customer in me! I have been nothing but amazed with the scope. Goodluck

Hey PatSam,

Please look here for more info: http://www.kyhistoricsalvage.com/etac.html

I’m borrowing a webpage from my friend Steve Cox for my brochure. Please take a minute to look at the stuff he offers as well. The Hawke Scopes are very nice!

If you have any questions, I’ll answer them as quickly as I can. You can call me anytime as well.

Roachcreek,
Please use PMSG, or pnjgaska@windstream.net for email. jgaska2@windstream will work as well, but not as convenient for me.
As always, you can call me too.

The E-TaCREG is not a regulator. It is an adapter to allow the use of a JDS regulator of your choosing on the Airforce frame. There will be a JDS reg for the Talon bottle very shortly. It too, will fit the E-TaCREG.

The E-TaCREG will be offered in right hand, left hand, straight angled drop, and straight. All E-TaCREGs will work with either the JDS regulator. However, the regulator will be specific to the tank used.

The total increase to the LOP is 3.5″ no matter what tank you use.

More later.

Jim

Jim,

I could not get thru on your email. I have some questions.

Is the etacreg your working on have the regulator in it, or do I need to buy that from JDS along with the tank I would need?

Is the etacreg your making canted? Is it 2″ long like your regular canted etac? I have been looking at the JDS 48 cubic inch tank, every other combination with a 2 inch etac and 3.5 regulator looks too long.

The canted etac I have from you has me spoiled.

Roachcreek

So I’ve been away for a while and this product interests me.. But I’m a little confused. Whats an etac and e-taCREG? If its putting out 2000 psi to our guns wont the FPS be a little low? Please excuse my ignorance on the matter

Patrick
