Q:

Status of the E-TaCREG and other musings.

Hello everyone,

I want to thank you all for your support on my E-TaC venture. But first, the important stuff…

I have begun testing the E-TaCREG..this is the model that will use a paintball (JDS or xpert air) reg built into the E-TaC. It will use a HPA bottle only. Having good success, but won’t release it for sale until I can attest to its durability.

The E-TaC-T-REG is behind schedule.(This is the regulated model that will be made for the Talon/Condor bottle) My quest for a high quality regulator has taken me high and low; and finally, I MAY have a solution that will blow you mind….remember, I said MAY. The current situation is that I have to wait until mid March to begin negotiations with the well-known maker of high quality regs. The entity is interested, but has another obligation that has put me on hold.

This is great news for all of us and I hope it comes to fruition. We’ll all have to wait and see.

Regarding the E-TaC in general, I am humbled by the kind words, and numerous orders I’ve received. I dont’ think it’s polite to say exactly how many are sold, but suffice to say I am half-way to my goal of world domination…LOL. I have sent E-TaCs all over the world. South America, Canada, England, Spain, Portugal, Sweden, the Netherlands all have users.

The current E-TaC is removable, and about a half-inch longer than the original E-TaC. This presented a problem with the check-valve in the Foster fitting to fall into the E-TaC upon filling because there was no valve behind it to hold it in. I rectified that with a short piece of aluminum tubing located under the valve. That problem is solved.

I also found that the Talon and Condor frames are not all the same. Some have commented that the fill nipple might just contact the frame. Even though they clear my frame at the shop. I am working to see if I can lower the fill nipple even further, or find a shorter fill nipple. I may end up grinding off about .010 of the nipple to give it more clearance.

Anyway, just thought I’d give you all an update and let you know I haven’t forgotten about all of you and things are going very well at E-TaC central.

I appreciate all your support and look forward to bringing the newest regulated versions to market.

Regards,
Jim

Great news I’m putting this on my wish list.

Hey Guys,

Yes, the E-TaCREG is in PRODUCTION!!!

First ones came off the machines last night, I will be tied to my machines all weekend (with breaks to come here, of course) and they will be black oxided on Monday. I have been very tight on time lately and didn’t get a chance to get any oxided so I don’t have pictures.

I don’t know how many will be available in this run, but it’s first come first served so get your $90 sent to jgaska2@windstream.net to be the first on your block to have regulated Airforce rifle. Won’t all your friends be jealous??!!

If you guys ask really nicely, I’ll see if I can get one blacked tomorrow so you can ‘ohhhhh and ahhhhhh’ this weekend..LOL

I’m super-stoked and think you guys will be too.

Regards,
Jim

Hi Jim..

Any news about the E-TaCREG?

Whether JDS brings something to the table is for Marmot to decide, and it sounds like (because he said so) that may be the case.

However…it took me all of maybe 3 minutes to find this;

If they can’t punch the outlet pressure up to 2000psi…I’d be rather surprised.

At a minimum order of 50pcs…it might be worth an email at least.

Best of luck in your venture Marmot…what ever you decide.

Yep,

And if Marmot wants to go with something like that he should not be accused of doing anything wrong.

I knew you would be reading YN. I try to cater to all levels… 😉 😆 😆

In my humble opinion, JDS does bring something to the table, 2000psi regs. Note that most, if not all, the pb regs are set at 800 or at a max, 1000psi. That does us no good. As I mentioned before, no sense in me trying to tinker with an 800 psi reg if I can get a 2000psi reg in good working condition. Sure, they may cost a bit more, but in my opinion, it’s worth the extra to not have to mess with them.

Marmot is not doing anything wrong!!
If he decides to bypass JDS and source the Chinese bits direct, whats wrong with that??!!
Ford doesn’t ask Volvo if its ok to use Bosch parts, they go direct etc.
Why would you deal with the middle man if you don’t have to? Does JDS do something special to the parts to make them purely JDS? If so, then ok you deal with JDS. If not, then JDS can fuck off.

It’s a very intelligent/considerate concern and subtle… I like the way you think Voltar… 😉

It’s getting harder and harder to succeed in business doing things responsibly let alone product development, production and distribution without getting your idea ripped off. Mass producing a new product is an invitation for idea theft and knockoffs, the smaller the scale the less security and ability to hire lawyers and such. Producing something in China is in effect giving your idea away to the international market. Unless you happen to be on of the rare few who have full time overseas trade secret security officers that covet anything and everything to do with the idea and project… 😯 😕 Hats off to those who continue to push forward producing quality components from honest labor and love of craft! We have a lot of that here!!! 😀

Going around a guy is a stinky way to do business.

I was raised where your word is your worth and the guy you do business with deserves your word. Anything less and it deteriates quickly into a backstabbing cutthroat unethical me-feast.

The agreement is the thing and if in this case I was JDS and I discovered a commercially made and sold package with my device in it (and it matters not who makes it) I would be some pissed off and justifiably so.

Exactly. Fucking pissed would be in order!!!

Jim doesn’t strike as the kind of guy that would broker a backdoor deal or even look for the opportunity to do such a thing. 😉

No I don’t think so either, I think Jim gets what I am saying even if some others don’t. Things change between a single end-user buying vs a commercial venture being repackaged as my own. Could not do that. Would not do that. Capitalism or no.

Jim, good luck with your venture, hope you do well and do it well.

You are right and I am surprised Voltar would even mention it since he does not know anything about Jim and JDS business together.

Capitalism in America is under assault, but at least we appearently have a few people hanging on. Keep up the good work Jim, and put me down for two of each !

beenie,

Nothing yet. It looks too out of place in the white. Need to get it painted or anodized first…and needs some lovin too. Just used a crappy beat up piece of thin wall aluminum to mock it up to see if it was worth the while…boy is it ever.

Shooting a very de-tuned .22 at 500fps the Radioshack spl 6″ at a right angle to the muzzle showed 72db. Talking in a normal voice showed 74dB.

I’ll get it painted and post a pict. Don’t have any picatinny rails handy.
