Very interesting. Thanks! Which is your pick? I never shoot these guns offhand so weight is actually a plus up to a point for me.

Below are pics of the sights on Veles and Oclot. Veles sights are pretty crude and only adjustable for windage via set screw.

Veles was $1050 plus shipping. Ocelot was $926 plus shipping (TGAG).

Here are pics of the weigh in with red dots attached. Scale is reading pounds and ounces.

Thanks w1lp!

Not much improvement on Veles open sights 😥

Is the front sight still that thick fat screw that will hide the whole target?

You were lucky. In Poland we had to replace the barrels.

Yeah SC don’t sell it. My buddy has one they are lasers. Too bad we can’t get cricket barrels for the Taipan. They shoot like lasers. Both the .22 and 25 i had were stupid accurate.

I am sure glad I latched onto one of the .177 skeleton baby Crickets after reading all of this. 😯 It’s a little tack driver.

BTW, guys, do you know anything if LW outsources the production to some different countries?

Shoot the review you have linked too is on the Mutant Standard not the baby Mutant which came along later. The first 10 guns to enter this country via Dman were fitted with CZ barrels this is verified! Keyser sold that gun because he believed it was replaced by the Shorty.

Shooter that is my original mutant. It does have a CZ barrel. Those were imported by a TAG member (Dman111). You can see that there are three indentations on the top of the barrel near the breach. That’s because these barrels were initially made for the CZ 200. We are talking about the current import of mutants.

Pip you’re in over your head on this one. Given my purchase history do you honestly think I wouldn’t own both the Lelya and baby mutant? The owners are aware of the problem. It’s one of those barrel issues that rears its ugly head after you have shot the gun awhile and it starts patterning like a shotgun.

…Where as you have not a clue what you are getting from WWAG the sole importer of the baby mutant is the barrel CZ or made in Germany or is it made in Korea with an unchoked barrel. It was advertised as CZ barrel I asked Steve to please take down this false advertisement from his website.

My Magnificent Cousin     Oak,

if the gun is advertised as having a CZ barrel but it doesn’t come with it then don’t ask to take away the false advertisement but ask to be refunded in full by the manufacturer/importer (IMHO).

This is not a malfunctioning this is fraud !!! :angrymob:

To be perfectly honest (but not to justify anybody) I’ve had the same problem a few years back with a manufacturer I don’t want to mention. The only good thing was that in that occasion the “fraudulent barrel” was actually shooting better than the “original one”.

With this “attack” you have received the license to kick the manufacturer’s ass for eternity, so use your license and hopefully they will learn and prevent future “misbehaving” (IMHO).

My Magnificent    Cousin, My deepest respects

No, my most respected and most valued of kin and cousin alike           Sir Pippo of most majestic of orders. What our most regarded of friends Sir. Soze of the Desert and City alike is claiming-is not about the coming of the Lelya to town, not of her final delayed and delayed and delayed again arrival but of more serious and the most valid of issues with our beloved Mutant Shorty. And when I say beloved I mean nothing less. My dearest of cousins from the Phylum of            Hoot: the most majestic and the most magnifico of family lines in the simple one celled plant world: please inquire below my most gifted of cousins that you might better understand Sir Keyer Soze’s outrage.

T
his is my the Barrel of my mutant short just (2) months old might I add Sir Pippo my most respected cousin of cousins. This picture is brought to you compliments of          Sir. Ernest of the Pup the tuner I sent it to-to finally nail down what the problem was.

Our dearest and most descent of friends Sir Soze the maker of dead pigeon and dead starling piles alike-lies to you not! LIES TO YOU NOT! as Yoda of the Star might exclaim. Sir Keyser Soze has also had issues with the barrel and accuracy on his Beloved $1450.00 top end Bull Pup a bull pup called the Baby Mutant that he bought believing would shot with the accuracy of Artemis’s Bow. However the Keyser found a barrel in his beloved Baby Mutant that NOT even Crosman would use in their crappy ass air rifles. Besides this my greatest of cousins of the uncle of          Hoot: many others have had real issues with their Baby Mutants not being accurate and shooting erratically. So this is not so much about the Edgun. However it is more about not getting what you are told you are paying for. If you had went to many of the dealers websites last week you would have learned that our Baby Mutants were adorn with CZ barrels but this LIE was further then the truth then our greatest of Stars is to the now defunct planet of Pluto. Where as-as stated previously ED of Edgun has not given you less or other then what he has stated, he has only given you more and as I hear never skimps on this. However he may lie a bit about the time line, the time frame, the exact arrival date but you are getting everything he tells you-you are getting however this might take a few years! 😀

Where as you have not a clue what you are getting from the company known as WWAG which might I add is the sole importer of the baby mutant. So is the barrel CZ? or made in Germany? or is it made in Korea? does it come with a choked or with an unchoked barrel. It was advertised as to have a CZ barrel and I asked Steve to please take down this false advertisement from his website. He the IMPORTER is clueless to what barrel is in the gun he imports when the barrel on a 1400 plus gun should have a crosman like pissa crap in it?

I hope I cleared things up for my most majestic and most humble of cousins            Sir Pippo of the most highest order of plant life in the single celled plant world. As our friend Sir Keyser Soze is an elusive character this does not make him a liar and a cheat though no one really knows who Keyser Soze is my famous cousin.

So please forgive me on these matters.

… Don’t try justify charging 1450 for a lie just because you hate Ed……. Say what you want about Ed but rather than put out garbage he waited for good barrels now that the EDguns are arriving you are using this opportunity to attack Ed and his company.

Hi Keyser,

with all due respect but sorry there must be a misunderstanding, actually several misunderstandings….

1) I don’t hate Ed. He loves me too 😀

2) I’m not trying to justify charging 1450 USD…. I strongly condemn dishonest business practices and ripping-off of customers, that’s one of the reasons why I am in the Edgun section most of the time…

3) I’ve never attacked anybody, I just report facts and figures and as you have seen with the “Lelya Hold-Up affaire”, Ed doesn’t need to be attacked to loose his reputation, he does this very well already by himself…

Concerning the Taipan, I confirm that I don’t own one so I don’t speak from personal experience but when you state:

quote keyser soze:

…Not all is rosey with the Taipan. There are issues with the short. I’m waiting to see if the dealers make it right. Some already have others may not even know about the issues…

I’m wondering what catastrophic issue or malfunctioning the Taipan may have if the owners don’t even know about it.

The only thing I know is that the “supposedly Taipan issues” came out when people was bailing out from getting the Lelya to get a Mutant Short…

With my very best regards and thank you already very much in advance for your upcoming unbiased Lelya and R3 .30 review.

Pip, with all due respect you don’t know what you’re talking about regarding the Taipan short. When a gun patterns like a shotgun I don’t care if it gets 100 shots per fill. . The lands and grooves are not like a LW and there is no choke. The OD is also smaller on the barrels placed on the Shorty. Taipan used shims to fill the barrel bands. Very shoddy work. Say what you want about Ed but rather than put out garbage he waited for good barrels now that the EDguns are arriving you are using this opportunity to attack Ed and his company.

No manner what is posted here I will give the Lelya and R3 .30 a fair shot. I have manny thousands of rounds through my EDguns and they always perform. The only problem I have had with EDgun is lack of communication. It’s kinda like choosing a doctor. Would you like a doctor who is friendly but does’t know is job or an arrogant asshole doctor who is a master at his craft?

   :thumb:

Would seeing ‘Proudly made in PRC’ make you feel better?
