Q:

The new Talon P

I received an e mail from AirForce today stating that the pistol will be shipping in limited quantitys by August 31 and the MSRP is $421.00. You can call in your order at 1877 247 4867 if you like.

Extreme valve stem looks just like the Condior stem pictured except for larger transfer ports. 😉

I think Hoot did a photo op in the Mods/Machinists section.

I would like to see the springs and nut also pictured.
If the P uses a smaller spring then the spring would collaspe restricting the air flow thru the spring even more, BUT the delrin porting would overly compensate.

So can this delrin seat, spring and nut be changed out to a Hi-Flow? It looks like it would exchange.

Does anyone have a RL Extreme valve apart for comparison, if the delrin seat would fit on the Extreme?

I wonder what that valve seat would do on a RL valve stem.

Roachcreek

I guess previously the air would filter through the return spring. Now if flows through the seat and into the valve body opening just before going into the valve stem…

The delrin part now sits against the face of the spring only and doesn’t have a step to carry the inside and face of the spring.

So if this allows more air to pass through the area and into the valve stem then the old design was restrictive…? But, but…

But the diameter of the delrin seat isn’t any smaller and it would appear this is the place where the most gain could be attained… There looks to be about a 1/32″ of gap between the delrin seat and the side wall of the valve body (in a Condor valve).

Very curious.

What’s your take Tony?

quote Anthony266:

Here is a pic of their direct flow valve. It is a condor valve, but the valve seal has angled vent holes through it. I dont know if this will improve velocity or not. All AF tanks will fit on all AF rifles and pistols.
The new pistol valve will not fit on the larger tanks…..there you have it.
Stock Condor valve top. New direct flow on bottom.

Thanks, Tony

that sucks. ok, just for the record, will the derlin seat fit on a condor valve stem?? and, how does the valve spring seat on the derlin?? looks like it’s pretty flimsy back there. won’t the valve seat collapse at the ports?

😯

Not what I was expecting but interesting none the less…

I wonder if they have changed the shape inside the spring retainer or anything like that.

I believe it was stated that the “P” valve had more power from Shagg’s tests… 😉

Tophat settings matter it would seam… 😆

thats a curious design, we need some actual numbers for comparison, im not sold yet… 😕 anybody here got an aerodynamics background?

So they are relying on hyper flow from the delrin ports to the delrin seat, like getting air past an airplane wing, therfore more volume. As long as the air speed from port to seat does not exceed the speed of sound, I suppose it will move more air.

They did no chamfering or elongating of the port in the stem ?

Tony – Can you do a fair comparison of the 2 valves in the same setup (shaggy tried to earlier with near equal results), to see if the volume / efficiency of the Direct Flow is better than the stock Hi-Flow ?

So do I. 😉 😆

Looks like the only way to get it in a regular valve body is to remove the insides and swap them into another valve… Not sure if that will even work though.

damm, syn!

im due for a verbal bitchslapping, i should have took time to scan a few pages… 😳 😳 😳 😳

still want pictures comparing the valve internals, though….

syn…

i aint got time for that shit!! 6 pages on a product i have very little interest in…just the alleged new valve…

btw…threadjacking is the sincerest form of flattery here, is it not? besides, if i took time to read everything,as slow as i type, the talonp would be discontinued by the time i was done…still waiting on pix, btw… 😛 😉

Well if you would have actually read the posts you are accusing of jacking up this thread you’d know… :2:

😆

Looks like it’s a modded Condor stem (ported valve stem), or at least it has roughly the same power capabilities. 😉

damn threadjackers!! :whoop: anyways, back to the talon pee… our esteemed colleague mr gaylord implied that these little tanks have yet another version of the AF valve referred to as the direct-flo valve. anybody have a pic of this alleged new valve design, so i can see which one of us TAG whackos this was copied from? i am quite sure weve done it already, like most of AFs “new ideas”… 🙄

That is where you adjust the tophat on the direct flo valve to keep the 22 cal pellet under the speed of sound and still be able to use the powerwheel to fine tune velocities for different weight 22 cal pellets. 😉
