I tried calling R&L all day yesterday but couldn’t get a hold of anyone. I’m sure others are trying and perhaps they’re dealing with FX Impact owners as well. I really doubt it’s coming anytime soon. Just a hunch.

I called Friday and got an answer on my first try. Randy answered.

….and what did he say about it? I called last week. Apparently, I am number 2 on pre-orders. I didnt get any indication there was going to be a delay in shipping. Did you hear differently?

I am just as eager a preorder holder as you but I wouldn’t hold my breath…

quote tsakula:

what do you think is the priest good thing for hunting? i want it because of changeable barrels.

The interchangeable barrels is nice but I only considered that for the upcoming arrow barrel. I’ll buy that but it is unlikely that I will buy the .22 or .177. For me it just doesn’t make sense.

I think it will be good for hunting for a few reasons. I expect the accuracy to be there but that is the main question. It has provisions for a sling to clip on the rear plate and the side dovetails will make a decent place to clip on the front section of the sling. If a 2 point sling doesn’t work then a 1 point will be OK too just not my first choice. The rifle is already ugly as sin so I won’t be too worried about scratching it up a bit. Opposed to the vulcan, for example, that is just absolutely beautiful and I would be very sad to scratch that stock. I won’t even get to the remote bottle setup because I don’t yet see the teether available and it doesn’t look like it comes with the rifle but I am enthusiastic about that option. It is light and has a very short bore axis which really changes how easily someone can employ the rifle. It makes life much easier to have that low bore axis, for me at least.

We I hunt I don’t tend to sit still and wait so the priest really looks like it will be a great option for me. I am just really hoping that all of my enthusiasm isn’t just wish thinking. We will see.

In Sweden the Wildcat has roughly the same Price as the Priest. But only One of them has CZ barrels 😉

quote Bizill:

The mag prices are very close to making me jump ship and go to a Vulcan as the Priest only comes with one.

Under 2 weeks away and no new updates, anywhere. :fishinghole:

What price range and shots available are you looking for?? The Vulcan is a super attractive BP and had it not been for the priest’s offerings and price that was what I was going to get. From my perspective I can get another mag and glass before I make just the cost of the Vulcan. There likely won’t be any more reviews til it starts to get to the buyers. Myself being one.

I’ll say this though, if you like the mutant, vulcan, cricket, wildcat and other guns of that design philosophy then go for it. They all seem to really prove themselves in the field. The priest and the impact have a different design scheme and I think that it will be much more effective in the field, where I intend to use the gun, and it is unlikely that when I am really getting down to business that I will have to shoot many rounds. So for me the mag capacity and cost are a relative nonissue as I will only have to buy a second, hopefully one time.

Honestly the cricket seems to have a strong lead when it comes to carrying lots of pellets with you.

I’m sure they take the $100 to separate the serious from the window shoppers. They seem like good guys there thus far. That way they can gauge how many they need to pre-order for sale and reserve the color choices available. And regarding the Mutant .25, that’s got my attention as well. I would imagine one couldn’t go wrong with either one but even the .25 Mutant I’d want to wait for reviews to pour in first. I know that could lead to me being forced into a longer waiting period than those who just pre-order sight unseen.

Wow Biz
That’s a win Win thing there, R&L must be really good people to do that,
Here is 100 dollars hold my gun for me if its a good gun I will take it, If the reports are bad I want my money (deposit) back.
If the Mutant 25 was not pulling my strings I might get in on a deal like this.
Its just a wait and see thing for me, And you guys to. Just wait and see,
Mike

Not enough for me as an early adopter, although my greed and impatience may get the better of me. I have mine “reserved” with the $100 down payment but asked R&L kindly if they could hold onto my money whilst keeping my place in line for purchase until after the first few reviews come out. If for some reason there ends up being a critical issue with these units then I don’t want to be stuck with a $1200 problem on my hands.

I’m hoping such is not the case, of course. Out of all the offerings in bullpups out there, I am inclined to wait on this one. So I’m hoping for more gleaming reviews before launch to put my worries at ease. Of course R&L has told me they will be doing their own reviews when they get them in, but I’m not sure if that means a published review or more of a quality check.

I’m thinking we won’ be seeing these anytime soon. Not trying to spread F.U.D. or anything but it seems this single video from Gregor is still all RTI Arms has given the public. I’d think we’d see at least 2 or 3 more vids/commercials or other advertisements on the product before launch. Or is this the way things work in the airgun industry?

ETA: Yes, I too have my pre-order in with R&L.

I think it is 4,2 mm because the top screw for fixating the barrel is M5 (5 mm thread requires 4,2 mm hole)…

Asked him about the transfer port dimension last night

I’ll be sure to include if the trigger is metal just for you steeldreams007. I am inclined to think it is based on the set screw it is threaded to hold.

It looks like the trigger blade is metal on this one…but please do check for me when you have your Priest in hand. Thanks.

quote tsakula:

i wonder how the trigger feels compared to cricket or others. it wont be as good as mutants, but if it matches cricket, it will be great

We will see about the feel. The mark for me is the trigger on a CZ 453. It was a single set trigger, SST, that was just amazing. You’d push the trigger forward and it would lock. From there is was about 9oz. The priest is claiming adjustable let down to a mere 7oz. If it can be safe, as in it will not unintentionally fire when jarred about, I will be really impressed. I only used the SST on my 453 when shooting from a bench to show off. No over travel and a clean break are what I strive to get and will usually modify it til I get there on my handguns. Grittyness and stageyness tend to disappear on its own in time so I’ll be sure to give my initial and later impressions about that.
