it arrived yesterday, i ordered it as soon as i had sold enough stuff…but it seems like they are in short supply most places, and where its available they want nearly 700 bucks for it….so i ended up canceling the truck at thebarnfloor.com who had it for 609….and went ebay for 660 with 8% bing cashback….making it 608 incl shipping
bought 4 packs of zippy 3S 25C 5000mah batteries and a 8 cell charger for lipo….charger can be programmed in tons of ways, and it does balance charging and all including temp probe
also ordered castle link which allows me to program the ESC, and theres a lot of stuff to change….like braking, acceleration curve, how much initial power it can draw and much more
anyhow the truck….well buggy….no truck…had it not been for the monster truck wheels i would call it a buggy with such a streamlined body and all
its all very nicely laid out…and came completely ready to run…i dropped 8AA into the transmitter, and loaded 2 lipos….and off i went driving a bit carefull….but its very hard not to try see what it can do.
before programming it….it was VERY agressive, launching wheelies as soon as you added more power, allmost hard to keep the front down….it has tons of body roll, and the gear train could sound nicer….but it all works….breakes was set at 50%, which is like a sloppy 1:8 nitro buggy brake, upped it to 75% which is enough to make a stoppie, so i lowered it to 70% which gives lots of breaking, but only does stoppies when max brakes are applied and surface allows it.
this truck should come with a center diff, why they dont dump that 25$ item in there from the start is a mystery to me….with all the wheelie power it would be nice with a centerdiff to transfer the power forward once the front lifts off
second i wish they had used bolts on some of the screws….they just thread into plastic, and is way easy to overtighten, even with great care taken…
third….i would have liked it as a kit….you learn so much from assembling it your self….not i have to guess what to take appart for access a certain part
i got center diff ordered, but it hasnt showed up yet….and i ordered a sway bar kit….this kit is a must ! it helps soooooo much
one tire has allready shredded 🙄 i hope some glue will hold it together so i can get a few more miles out of it
i put my old digital camera on it….it has a lens housing for extra lenses so i though that would protect it …and it did….but the ride was too rough i guess for it to keep recording…it kept ending up with format error….i really wish i had recorded there was some spetacular crashes 🙂

Do you have a link to a cheap place ? ebay seems to have them but for old style film…..
Try a Go-Pro camera, I’ve seen them sell the old ones for $40. water (therefore dust I would assume) proof case with replacable lenses for when you break it.

was thinking of mounting my squirrel cam its wireless and uses a 9v battery…that might do the trick as long as im home
today i made a pretty long slide something like 40-50 feet on its back hehe…..been trying to front flip it…by accelerating hard and then hit the brakes….works once in a while(same as i did on the video all though that was not intentional LOL)
was about to join the local RC club….but they want me to member of AMA which is 60 bucks….and 110 for the club….im out of money so that will wait…they have a nice track 10 min from where i live…so that would be nice…but the backyard track is cool….live at a culdesack (how do you spell that) a blind road…nice space to hit some pavement action…..not big enough for top speed
3 minutes walk from me is a park…been there a couple of times…fun place to go nuts with the car….looks like the city dumped some palm bark or something there….makes for fun jumps….theres grass….and the gravel paths ….fun place…just gotta watch for people walking there…i bet they dont think getting hit by 4 kg(8pounds) of plastic at 40 mph is fun….hmm how many FPE is that ? hmm 59 fps 61 729 grain…..anyone have that answer ?
i am very impressed with the brushless system…it is so powerfull, from bottom rpm to top rpm…..full speed ahead from a dead stop and it will allmost just backflip….driving at a fast speed i would say 30-40 mph and then gun it….and it will wheelie…..even when the suspension and all is set low ! the noise well its not quiet when putting down power, but for messing around on the street its not annoying line a nitro would be.
no poisenous nitro….no glowplug….no starter motor or weak pull starter….plug in the batteries, watch the spak as it connects…turn on transmitter, then reciever…and punch it…..doesnt have to warm up….
downside is off course ….batteries….it takes 65 minutes for my charger at 1C (5amp) to charge 2x3cells which gives me 30-40 minutes of driving(could stop at something like 50 minutes where the batts are 95% full)….battery price can buy you alot of methanol….but i can just plug it in…roll it out of the house and go nuts…..
all i want now is to get the stock tires off….and tape them…is there an easy way of doing that ?

a few pics …. i made an little figure 8 track in an unused space behind my house….quite difficult, and no place to go all out…but its real good training, and good place to adjust the setup to match….everything is so dry the whole place turns into a dust cloud when ever im back there…hehe love it !
my charging setup…the balance cable wasnt the right one so i made it useable any way by removing the batter side plugs alltogether…not hard to plug it in, just have to be carefull.
i have been balacing charging since day one, see no reason why not to…maybe its faster to charge normally i dont know ?

this is one of the difficult turns, if you run wide you hit rocks and a tree thats not in the picture….run narrow and yo hit the little bush

ok thanks for the answer, the revo has 17mm…..so i think it should work, but if the tires rubber etc is not up to it, then i wont try it
got a bit of video shot today….camera even though digital and all cuts out by the slightest jolt….so i made a foam adaptor…and it helped somewhat…especially like it cut out the wind noise

just watched it my self for the first time…notice at 6:54 im driving towards my self and starts to brake, and it bloks and does a front flip totally off the the ground and lands on all 4….
The buggy tires connect with a different size adapter. Anyway, the rubber is much thinner and would be shredded by that monster.

i was wondering, whats the wheel height of 1:8 buggy tires ? was considering using them for general bashing if they are large enough
yard has quickly gotten too small for this beast….opened it up fully today in the park on a hard packed dirt path…..its so insanely hard to keep the front down…i tried more and less preload….actually minimum preload on the front worked the best…..it looked awesome as it came screaming with a huge dust cloud behind it….front tires seems to hit a certain speed, and the all of a sudden gives up and starts to balloon quite a bit at which time its just a fraction of a second from flipping backwards….i wonder how much downforce that rear wing gives….its way back over the rear axle…and could be lifting the front ?
the 2.4ghz transmitter have awesome range, no problem getting it 100 yards away
sitting and hoping the plastic beadlock i ordered was ½” offset, the car could use more width, and i need to relearn how to drive….im pulse driving it and that doesnt seem right for an electric….one wouldnt think i have ever driven RC before i guess thats 15+ years of muscle rust for ya….fucking awesome !
I can’t remember what brand they were, but aluminum is the way to go. the plastic ones strip the little screw holes in the wheel out in a couple of times taking them in and out. A stiffer sidwall tire will resist biting sideways and rolling over. I liked the Maxxis dirt hawgs. Adding weight increases drivtrain wear and shock loading though, it is a trade off, but unsprung weight is the place to add it if you have too, increases traction and control. Nice Truggy. Blow that thing off with an air compressor will ya. 😀
any particular brand of bead locks to get ?
i have been looking at some called maximizers they look pretty good
and when at it…they come in all kinds of offset….what to get ? i guess a 3/4″ off set makes the car 1.5″ wider and as such more sideway stable…but honestly it seems like these fat wide tires have so much traction allready that when it slide sideways it likes to roll instead of sliding
I second the beadlocks, i had aluminum beadlocks on mine, easy tire changes, and no more glue. They never slip, that’s how i ruined a couple of tires before i got them, none after. Not a cheap upgrade though.
Find some very,very stiff foam inserts, tape the insides of the tire with gorilla tape, use “zap-a-gap” CA on the beads or buy bead lock wheels.
there allready foam in there…..maybe some more foam…and i read to tape the inside of the tires help too…..just requires boiling the tires off the rims….and regluing….i figured i would run them as they are and get some better ones when its time to change
