Q:

traxxas E-Revo 1:10 brushless

it arrived yesterday, i ordered it as soon as i had sold enough stuff…but it seems like they are in short supply most places, and where its available they want nearly 700 bucks for it….so i ended up canceling the truck at thebarnfloor.com who had it for 609….and went ebay for 660 with 8% bing cashback….making it 608 incl shipping

bought 4 packs of zippy 3S 25C 5000mah batteries and a 8 cell charger for lipo….charger can be programmed in tons of ways, and it does balance charging and all including temp probe

also ordered castle link which allows me to program the ESC, and theres a lot of stuff to change….like braking, acceleration curve, how much initial power it can draw and much more

anyhow the truck….well buggy….no truck…had it not been for the monster truck wheels i would call it a buggy with such a streamlined body and all

its all very nicely laid out…and came completely ready to run…i dropped 8AA into the transmitter, and loaded 2 lipos….and off i went driving a bit carefull….but its very hard not to try see what it can do.

before programming it….it was VERY agressive, launching wheelies as soon as you added more power, allmost hard to keep the front down….it has tons of body roll, and the gear train could sound nicer….but it all works….breakes was set at 50%, which is like a sloppy 1:8 nitro buggy brake, upped it to 75% which is enough to make a stoppie, so i lowered it to 70% which gives lots of breaking, but only does stoppies when max brakes are applied and surface allows it.

this truck should come with a center diff, why they dont dump that 25$ item in there from the start is a mystery to me….with all the wheelie power it would be nice with a centerdiff to transfer the power forward once the front lifts off

second i wish they had used bolts on some of the screws….they just thread into plastic, and is way easy to overtighten, even with great care taken…

third….i would have liked it as a kit….you learn so much from assembling it your self….not i have to guess what to take appart for access a certain part

i got center diff ordered, but it hasnt showed up yet….and i ordered a sway bar kit….this kit is a must ! it helps soooooo much

one tire has allready shredded 🙄 i hope some glue will hold it together so i can get a few more miles out of it

i put my old digital camera on it….it has a lens housing for extra lenses so i though that would protect it …and it did….but the ride was too rough i guess for it to keep recording…it kept ending up with format error….i really wish i had recorded there was some spetacular crashes 🙂

heres the little bit the camera managed to record

had my Vorza out to the park to bash around….theres some nice piles of bark and other shredded stuff that makes for great jumps…..i walk one of the jumps i made….car never went abow 2 feet but it fles nerly 7 yards….i guess thats what a high speed jump will do….with 6S this buggy does 68 mph….i figures case of the worn down tires tread i must have hit it with 50 mph…..looked aweseomto say the least,,….then 2 minutes after changing from 4S to 6S i just barely tough a wooden fence…and the right rear hub….yup same as last time fucking broke…..this thing has holes for 2 levels….and is joined though the middle…its the same that gonna break every time….wife was in a good mood i managed to beg to get it all aluminum….150 bucks for front aluminum, and rear aluminum daummm

today we saw h&r block….got a nice big fat check comming in the mail soon….i of course took advantage of that and begged for anothert RC car….the losi 1/18 crawler BND (menaing you have to have your own transmitter) got a 10% discount too at the local hobby shop as i have been in there at least twice a week for the last uhmm couple of months….so they know me…..i drive …have fun….and break shit….i told them im they want my business to stock what i need (the vorza uses same parts as shitload of other hpi trucks/buggies) and to offer it at competetive prices

any how….got a new set of phaltlines…as my trying to drift the revo has worn out the rear tire on the right side…tsk tsk…gotta get the aligned better…..but it is so freaking awesome hearing the rubber scrubbing and the truck sliding.

4s batteries i got are proven to be shit to say it out right ….allways one cell to dip below 3v….fucking sucks….shipping back is half the price of the batteries…so im just gonna run them as they are and set the cutoff on the esc a little higher

4S is not nearly as fun as 6S….dont let eneyone fool you….4S might be more controlable sure….but it is very nice to have 2S more to pop that wheelie, or to correct the trajectory of the car….

the new crawler is what it is top speed is walking speed….. fun thing is that it climbes everything….i see pillow mountains, boobs….and other fun stuff to climg in it future 😈

movie to come ….i just drove it around here and there….showing off my weeds…which had nothing in common to the recent weeds posts….say where do i get some of them seeds ?

off to see a movie….l8r

new batteries suck….2 batts out of 4 doesnt discarge and or charge right….one cell will discharge below 3v and the other cell be at 3.6v….when charging the charger has to take for ever to balance the cells as one will be 0.2 above the other

series of slow charges and slow discharges havent changed a bit….ok they where from china…turnigy abtteries usually recieve great reviews…. but these sucks…they are turnigy 2S 30C 5.2Ah

runtime was a sloppy 21 minutes before the 3.2v cutoff kicked in

and 2S might have more amps available…but neither the truck or buggy are as agressive as on 6S…..so voltage does count

topspeed is 30mph on a single pack of 3S…..42 mph on 4S and 68 on 6S

it does accelerate almost as good on 4S as on 6S….but it lags the wheelie power of 6S

they where cheap at 22 bucks per pack…considering sending two pack back if its feasible

gotta love that video….some darn impresa i mean impressive driving

Here is a little inspiration for your next drifting session…

F1 qualifying is on Speed Channel right now… Oh, Q3 just ended…

ohh and about the motor….castle creations home page state that the motor under start up can draw about 5000-6000watts 😯 i dont know if this is just the fraction of the second where it gets rolling….cause the batteries cant supply that…so it has to come from the capacitors thats not real big….

and on some forum i read that the motor running can gulp down something like 800-1000w

enough

yeah i dont get it either….was peeking at the electric car forums….they sort of made a little sense and then it got complicated ….and i dont get it…

the buggy is lightning fast….has plenty of torque i could prolly gear up from 19T to 21T or maybe even 22T pinion and not loose acceleration

neighbor came out while i played with the newly discovered ability to wheelie …and i was trying to pull a wheelie going faster and faster….and trying to control the wheelie so it wouldnt get so far up that the wing would scrabe…

its those darn new losi tires they really offer great grip….now that the protective film all new tires has is gone…you can really see the uhmm scrub in them….it lays down power as well as rubber…i dont see these lasting too long…i have been trying to get the buggy to drift…i cant….

the e-revos phaltline tires on the other hand…i can allmost make it drift…i can certainly hear the rubber is not gripping, and yesterday i allmost got it to really drift…with counter steer and all….i might try disable the AWD and go rear wheel 2wd…and see if it will do better that way

time for bed….l8r y’all

😯 Wow… Wheelies at 30…

Electricity and electronics are like magic in my book… 😆

In a DC motor amps would be power and amphours would be duration… Err, I would guess… 😕

yay got some new batteries today…..turnigy 2S 30-40C 5.2A hardcase…i got no idea why….but usually these come with 12 or 10 guage wire which is a pain in the ass to solder with the little soldering iron i got…..but these come with 8 guage wire, i had to use an open flame to pull the stock bullet connectors….and the soldering iron would take like 5 minutes to get everything fluid…did 2 connectors (traxxas) what a freaking pain in the ass….

now im wondering….are these new ones more powerful than the old ones

old batteries 3S 25-30C 5.0Ah=125A to 150A discharge at 11.1v =1387.5w to 1665w
new batteries 2S 30-40C 5.2Ah=156A to 208A discharge at 7.4v =1154.4 to 1539.2

wattage=power =whats available instantaneous
wattage x time= energy stored

so i read on another forum….i dont get it….i thought the Ah was indicator of capacity….an C rating of power…does that mean these batteries make up for their low voltage with a high c rating and will give me approximate same performance as the 3S ?

or will the higher amperage give the car a bigger boost but lower topspeed because of lower voltage ?

is amps the same as torque ?

got new super duper Losi 1/8 street tires…..and they baloon….but man they offer some great grip….

a buggys most rearward point in usually the tires or the wing……now running down the street at roughly 30 mph….and punching it to full throttle…the rear tires have such great grip, that along with the tork motor (MMM) it pulls a wheelie…..freaking impressive…i havent seen any nitro buggies capeable of pulling a wheelie going 30 mph…..with or without street tires

i love that buggy…slightly smaller than the e-revo…but so much stronger…and now with correct gearing just as fast….tighter turning….cheaper tires….

if your looking to get a rc car today…my recommendation would be get a buggy

yeah the brushless motor generally output more power than brushed…..also people are using 6S lipos for 25v and 100-175A (depending on C rate) these are way more powerfull than nimh or nicd with no memmory effect…..but they do burst into flames if pack gets damaged, under or overcharged

the e-revo will do around 60-65 mph with included gearing and 6S, that is guite fast for those flubbery rubber tires

my buggy hits 68 mph with those small 1/8 buggy tires….they do baloon too, but not as bad as the monster truck tires

Wow, tires would balloon lift the front and the car takes off…

Then he blows a tire up… 😯

So the brushless motor goes faster that the brushed and this causes the tires to grow? 😕

My RC10 never did that! 😆

more like this

stock tires on that one….they are fine for bashing….and the brushed setup….but they sell them with the brushless setup as well….and that system is just too powerfull for those soft tires….(it does help to tape the inside of them)

Exploding tires…. 😯
