Q:

traxxas E-Revo 1:10 brushless

it arrived yesterday, i ordered it as soon as i had sold enough stuff…but it seems like they are in short supply most places, and where its available they want nearly 700 bucks for it….so i ended up canceling the truck at thebarnfloor.com who had it for 609….and went ebay for 660 with 8% bing cashback….making it 608 incl shipping

bought 4 packs of zippy 3S 25C 5000mah batteries and a 8 cell charger for lipo….charger can be programmed in tons of ways, and it does balance charging and all including temp probe

also ordered castle link which allows me to program the ESC, and theres a lot of stuff to change….like braking, acceleration curve, how much initial power it can draw and much more

anyhow the truck….well buggy….no truck…had it not been for the monster truck wheels i would call it a buggy with such a streamlined body and all

its all very nicely laid out…and came completely ready to run…i dropped 8AA into the transmitter, and loaded 2 lipos….and off i went driving a bit carefull….but its very hard not to try see what it can do.

before programming it….it was VERY agressive, launching wheelies as soon as you added more power, allmost hard to keep the front down….it has tons of body roll, and the gear train could sound nicer….but it all works….breakes was set at 50%, which is like a sloppy 1:8 nitro buggy brake, upped it to 75% which is enough to make a stoppie, so i lowered it to 70% which gives lots of breaking, but only does stoppies when max brakes are applied and surface allows it.

this truck should come with a center diff, why they dont dump that 25$ item in there from the start is a mystery to me….with all the wheelie power it would be nice with a centerdiff to transfer the power forward once the front lifts off

second i wish they had used bolts on some of the screws….they just thread into plastic, and is way easy to overtighten, even with great care taken…

third….i would have liked it as a kit….you learn so much from assembling it your self….not i have to guess what to take appart for access a certain part

i got center diff ordered, but it hasnt showed up yet….and i ordered a sway bar kit….this kit is a must ! it helps soooooo much

one tire has allready shredded 🙄 i hope some glue will hold it together so i can get a few more miles out of it

i put my old digital camera on it….it has a lens housing for extra lenses so i though that would protect it …and it did….but the ride was too rough i guess for it to keep recording…it kept ending up with format error….i really wish i had recorded there was some spetacular crashes 🙂

heres the little bit the camera managed to record

Nice, But those will bald so quickly on your “ride”.

yeah….its ok they where cheap….

revo JR is not mine….that thing is nuts….sooo much power and speed….on just one 3S ! nuts…shame its not mine so i cant really drive it…other than the quick spin i did on the video

revo brushless….theres a reason they rate it maximum difficulty on traxxas site with 2x3S batteries….i could just run 2S 10-15C, or gear it lower , should be fine then….

but i really should have taped the stock tires when i got the car….now theres so many tears that i have glued that will come undone if im not very carefull when boiling them

gorilla tape…wow….that stuff is sticky….alot more so than gaffa

no such thing as too powerfull :-)…only bad drivers….yeah im bad…i saw the tires baloon…and yet still wanted to see if it would wheelie…i should have stopped, and boiled the tires off the rims, and taped them

it is amazing though how much power there is.

just as i was about to sit down and cry….postlady knocked on the door and had a big box….8x proline holeshot (1$ a piece on ebay) 4x semi hard foam (2$ pr foam) they are 3.2″ and not 3.8 as the revo has stock…i mounted them on some maximiser beadlock with ½” offset (30$ for 4 on sale)

en result is a wheel and tire comby slightly heavier…used gorilla tape on the inside…tires are smaller by about quarter inch in height, and little more than ½” in width ….so not all the much different….cool thing is that they dont ballooon YAY

when punching it hard, the front lifts about 1-2″ and a little smoke comes off the front tires as they make contact again….dont think its faster, but steering is more responsive….also 1″ wider stance thanks to the ½” offset on each side

finally got the centerdiff installed….and i got to drive the car for about 1 minute….it definatly improves handling especially cornering

however…the power from the motor is such that in a fraction of a second the front lifts…all the power goes to the front…and tires baloon….and blammo

ill let the pics talk

I had heard the Mamba Monster Maxx Is too powerful.
Try that motor on Revo JR.

buddy of mine, wanted a little Rc car for his son….and his son imdiatly fell in love with my revo, but his allowance was not enough for the big version so we got him the little one

OMG it if freaking fast….i didnt dare test i fully as it is just nuts ! sooo much power, so much speed….such a little package !

very cool !

yeah had 15 minutes while the parasite was getting fed….and a fully charged camera….

mines not hopped up btw…everything is stock for now, except i swapped out the spur gear to a smaller one…..which made it even more agressive…

i havent been able to find a balance between on and offroad….onroad i have to be very carefull with the brakes or it will make a stoppie, accelerating has to be done very uhmmm proportional, gunning it and it just flips on its back…even when going 50% speed

ordered a 24tooth to replace the 18 stock one….should gear it even higher for topspeed….thinking of it im not sure why as i can hardly keep the tires on the rim as it is now….hehe

Cyg-
Your having way too much fun with that 😆 😆
Pretty cool little movie ya have made.
My neighbor just got, I believe the same truck, maybe not so hopped up, gonna have to show him your cinema work for sure 😀 😀
I think you should strap your Talon on that bad boy 😈 😈 😈 , just kidding, but how fun would that be?

Anyway, the neighbors car got ran over by a real car when his chick was driving it 🙄 🙄 🙄 🙄
He has a 2 wheel drive, I’ll find out what it was exactly, and keep up the vids. cool man!!!

SAW

shot some footage of the car, and my small figure 8 track out in my backyard

it has just been uploaded so quality will be much better in a short while

snapped some pics of the ESC programming software….it is pretty much as easy as it gets….yet has a huge impact on how the truck behaves

yup dual steering…. advertisement says 125 torques per servo so 250 total…works pretty good….had to adjust them so they weren’t fighting each other trying to keep the wheels straight.

it came with an extra spur gear to take it from 63teeth to 54 i think i was dang it now i have to hook up the camera to confirm

so i had to go do some high speed runs on the road…and dang….fast just got even faster….still at half throttle, if you gun it, it will wheelie…..it got up to some pretty high speed….but i could see the tires balloning like crazy and the wheels shaking alot sideways….so as not to take any chances of a crash at high speed….cause for some reason it allways ends up on its back sliding forever, possibly into traffic….i backed off.

went over the tires and wheel….tightened the uhmm the hub where the a-arms connects to, and wheels are mounted to….top and bottom ball joint had quite a bit of play, thanks to plastic screws that has nothing to lock them, not even some blue loctite…so went over them all and tightened them correctly…..reglued the tires too where they had gotten loose or had cuts in them

is there an easy way to get the tires off without hurting the rim or tire ?….i bought gorilla tape, so im ready to tape the tires….just not sure how to get them off….and eliminate some of that balooning hehe

also found the wifes wedding nylon stocking and cut some round patches out, to put over then ESC fan….works great….filtes out dust, and debri, without hindering airflow too much…wifey will prolly kill me if she ever finds out lol

😯 Dual servo steering? Nice! I was going to convert my awd nitro car but haven’t got around to it…

it came with a 2.4ghz traxxas, its ok……nothing like my old futaba where i could adjust a million things

it has the bare minimum, reversal of servos and 50/50 and 70/30 which i prefer

range is excellent….i can drive the car further away from me than im comfortable with, reciever is powered by ESC and steering is run by dual servos….people are converting them to 1 servo, dont know why but they do

im still super impressed with the power of brushless….its a castle creatings mamba system….it has more power than the tires can handle !

and speaking about tires…holly crap they are expensive ! stocks it runs 3.8″ rims…..and i got some cheap maximiser bead mounted rims in 3.2″ but…looking at tower and ebay…i can get tires with rims just as cheaply as tires alone well allmost spare a few bucks.

on my xmas wishing list is a set of phaltlines, and i like the look of proline badlands….but alot of the tires are just 2″ to 2.5″ wide…..the revo’s stock are 3.2″

any recommendations on tires for 3.2″ rims ?

ohh i half broke the first thing on it….the suspension pushrod is starting to bend…..won an ebay auction for 4 new titanium rods for 12 bucks…4 bucks more than stock….worth a try

Cyg,

Which radio did you get?

That looks like a blast!!! 😯 😈
