Does anyone have the MTC Viper Connect 3 x 12 x 32 scope yet? I am interested in possibly putting this scope on the Leyla when it arrives. I would like to see a photo of it on a gun, and a review on it from a shooter.
Too bad the Viper PST didn’t work out for you. It’s an excellent scope but certainty not cheap either. Your second pic does look very odd with the scope that far forward. I’m surprise you couldn’t just use the same positioning of the SWFA mount with the lower rings.
I’d be curious what scope you’ll end up with. I really like the features and 10x mag of the Viper. I haven’t seen another compact FFP scope with side focus and 10x mag under $1K.
I have a Lelya on order and have been looking at a lot of different scopes for it. I was planning on putting one of my Bushnell 6500 2.5-16X44 scopes on it. Great power range and a smaller size then most scopes in that power range. Then I found this scope. http://swfa.com/Leupold-3-9×33-VX-2-Rimfire-EFR-Riflescope-P51833.aspx I think I will be getting one of these. I already have a 3-9X33 EFR and it has great glass. Only problems for me was it wasn’t a side focus and it didn’t have a good elevation knob to be turning for different ranges. I like to label my knobs with yardage marks, I don’t hold over or under. With the CDS I can label the knob well enough. As for no size focus I think on the Lelya front focus will work better on this gun then a side focus. I have not held a Lelya yet but with it being so short I would think your off hand would go to the front of the scope easier then to the side of it. At just over 11 oz and 11″ length I think it will be the perfect size for the lelya.
So a quick follow-up for you guys. Finally I had a chance to try Vortex Viper PST 2.5-10×32 on my Lelya. It arrived last week and I had 2 days to determin if it stays or not….
First about the scope as such. It’s awesome piece of equipment. Quality, fit & finish is just superb! View is cristal clear and razor sharp. Reticle thin and contrasty. I love everything about optic, reticle and how the scope is built!
Now mounting it on Lelya. I started with my most solid mount: 1-piece SWFA Super Sniper. I adjusted the scope position to get proper eye relief with standing position. The scope was a bit too high for me, but acceptable. As you can see the scope does not protrude beyound the muzzle. But it looks just not right to me, way unballanced, too high, too top-heavy (prone to canting). Verdict: no-go

Second try was low 2-piece mount from Weaver. It looks much better now imho but I had to move the scope slightly more to the front to get a comfortable stand with proper 4″ eye-relief. BTW, the scope is very sensitive to eye position and eye relief at 10x mag, it’s good as it minimizes paralax error. It looks ‘conditionally acceptable’ to me. It’s just too big for lityke Lelya. The ballance of the setup is not as bad as the previous one, but it’s still a bit front-heavy. It was a hard call. What should I do? Well, does “conditionally acceptable” justify getting $800 scope for an airgun? My answer was…… NO. If I pay $800 for a scope it must be perfect in each and every way, incl. gun ballance and aesthetics of the whole setup.

So with [partial] regret I returned the scope… but I’ll keep looking for “perfect Lelya scope”… stay tuned 😉
Thanks for taking time to make the mock up and post pictures. I agree with you that it looks perfect with the extra silencer it looks perfect and without it, it is borderline acceptable. Definitely post up some pictures once you get the scope and let us know how the parallax works for close distances.
Haha, I think what you did was awesome!
Soooo… here it is! Sorry for crappy cardboard scope and even crappier pics, but it’s the best I was able to do quickly today. It’s exactly the size of 2.5-10×32 PST scope. I used the same eye relief as I have now with Bushnell (it’s the same 4″) and as you can see it fits fine and usable even with standard 2-piece weaver mount. Of course “extended” 1-piece is better imho but standard 2-piece would work just fine.
1. Lelya without moderator (less than 5% of my shooting is in that config) – on the edge of acceptance for me, but still acceptable as the barrel/shroud is clearly longer than the scope.

2. Lelya & standard Edgun silencer = 95% of my shooting time. Well… imho it looks fantastic! The look is nicely ballanced, looks 100% business but the gun is not overwhelmed by the scope.

3. Silenced Lelya & one-piece extended SS mount. Looks even better! Vortex PST 2.5-10×32 is now on top of my short shopping list:

Hope you find it helpful guys…
Sure I will 🙂
Anyway, I’ll make 1:1 model of 2.5-10×32 scope, put on my Lelya and it should be clear immediately.just when I’m back home in the afternoon 🙂
That was one of my concerns also, as I have seen that most of the 1-6 scopes have a fixed 100 yard parallax. But people are mainly using these types of scopes for 3 gun compeitions where alot of the close shooting is done at 25 yards or less, but maybe that is only doable on the 1x magnification? I was going to contact SWFA and ask them if they had any more information about that.
When you make your model of the scope, can you take a picture of it with and without your extra moderator?
This is a nice scope (SS 1-6x) but it has no focus adjustment. For a 6x scope with FFP it can be a problem at ranges up to 20y.

6x vs 10x magnification to me is a big difference. A short side focus FFP scope with a usable airgun reticle is hard to come by sub $1K. The Viper PST for me fit that bill close enough. Btw, The EBR-1 MRAD reticle is based on the milliradian and has matching turrets. It also comes in MOA.
I have pre-ordered a Lelya and I have also been on the hunt for the perfect scope for the gun. I think the Vortex Viper 2.5-10×32 FFP is too long for the Lelya. I would like to keep the length of the scope 11in or less and it needs to have a mil dot reticle with matching mil turrets. So far my favorite scope option under $1000 that meets my requirements, is the SWFA 1-6×24. I would prefer 10x magnification, but I can’t find anything that is small enough.

Yeah, that Bushnell is supercool option for Lelya. However 10x, side focus and FFP reticle sounds good as well 😉
Maybe next year… for now I have no real need, Bushnell works perdectly for me 🙂

Actually I was a bit amazed as well with the scope position on different mounts. I believe that with my head higher I have more flexibility with eye relief (I can place my head a bit more to the back comfortably). With low mounts – no such chance. Anyway, for me 2.5-10 PST is just too big, too heavy, not proportional. Also the eye relief is quite high at 4+ inch. It’d be perfect for Matador, for sure! It’s going to be my first choice when I get Matador some day 🙂
What I’m looking for is a scope with magnification up to 7x or 8x (I don’t need 10x), parallax adjustment and mil-dot reticle (or similar). And short!
