While you’re waiting for your Matadors……..
I thought I would share with you how I coped waiting for my Matadors. It’s a loooong story with a lot to learn. I started this thread back in June 2011 while still waiting, – and oddly enough it became one of the most viewed threads on this forum.
This is how it started:
As it happens, I am the lucky owner of a serious harem of nice guns. And I frequently visit my summerplace on the coast down south in Norway, where weather is the only restriction to my shooting….
Summernights are nice and light with sunset around 22hrs….:
So yesterday I quit Oslo for a few weeks. Fed up with my loooongish waiting for ED and friends to deliver I took 11 members of my harem with me.
Here they are:
As some of you may know, I test and review guns for our Norwegian forum, and this time a comparison of springers is on the agenda….
So go ahead and name them, from left to right…….
And yes. There will be a more in depth test of Lelya 090 who has got new glasses for the occasion…….. 😉

I can barely get my fat fingers into the AF rifle opening, that looks downright impossible to load for me!
I had considered one of these extremely beautiful and accurate rifles for FT but went with something else… 😕

So is this little beauty which is supposed to be among the best FT- competition rifles (certainly one of the most expensive) in the world:
And yes, she may be among the most accurate rifles I’ve ever shot.
And she may be adjusted almost anyway you want and as a result an ergonomic masterpiece. BUT what they were thinking at AirArms when they designed (and put in production) a pellet port like this, I don’t understand:
It certainly looks clean and nice, with the probe sliding forward supported by a ball-bearing self aligning little thing. However there is supposed to be a pellet in there somewhere. And I simply don’t understand how I shall load this thing. There is not enough room between the probe and the breech to load. Unless of course you’ve got fingers of rubber and with the thickness of a pencil (I have neither… 😳 ):
This is probably one of the most ridiculous designs I have seen so far in my life with airguns……. 😥
Unless of course they start shipping it with a nice little Asian beauty trained to handle situations like this….. 😉
Hopefully my Matadors will be easier to load……….

The Prosport is probably the most beautiful springer ever made, – and yes she shoots and handles well. Very well in fact….
I am in process of doing a review/comparison between the Prosport and the HW97 (both cal.22) for my Norwegian friends, – and one of these days I may be able to translate…….
In the meantime, some of you may be interested in the Webleys which are another examples of high class UK-engineering. Lots have been said and and written about the true Webleys that were produced in Birmingham, UK. Unfortunately production was moved to Turkey (new owners), – and the Birmingham ones have become true collectors’ items. AND the original Webley “Longbow” is probably among the best springers ever made. Not overly powerful, – but extremely well balanced and civilized in her behavior. If you can find one, – don’t hesitate. Just get it. Accuracy second to none, very little recoil and small and easy to handle.
She is the smaller one of the two below. Her bigger sister, the Tomahawk, looks very much the same. BUT she has got all the unpleasentness of powerful springers that makes you wonder why you did not buy a PCP instead……..:
Now, while waiting for my Matadors, I am playing around with my other toys and I have set up a little shooting range in my “garden”:
I have the advantage of being alone here for at least four weeks and targets have been put up at 12, 20, 30 and 50 meters (55 yds). You can see them as orange dots in the pic. I am on an island on the coast, and my little summerhouse (the white one) is actually a 200 year old farmhouse. The red little barn is equally old, and for me this is paradise. Shooting is taking up most of my time, – BUT there are other pleasures to enjoy. Like summer nights that never turn dark:

Simple and easy, – crabs caught this morning just off my little dock…. 😀
If now only ED could respond. He confirmed my Matadors are in Estonia and suggested shipment within a month….

Ted the Pro-Sport has had my eye for a while now. I would like to see you do a review on it. I am a PCP guy and don’t shoot any springers but the Pro-Sport seems to be in a special class by itself.
A splendid collection, Trygve! Thanks for marching them all outside to give us a nice photo. What do you think of that Prosport? It is one of the few springers I have considered reviewing. Cheap springers simply have no place in my life. I am a total recoil snob. So, I know that PS weighs a metric ton…but, can it shoot? Seems that it would balance better than the TX200 or HW97, considering the lever is closer to center of balance.
Thank you guys for the info. I dont have as many rifles cause of the law here, i have around 6 PCP’s but i can tell you that one of my Fav. is the German HW100, its a great gun but it does have its weak spots.
So whats the best pellet for the MCT using the high & low settings ? and did anyone ever try using Daystate’s pellets to see if they give better accuracy than JSB or H&N ?
– and the above is a correct understanding of the situation if I am not mistaken. MVTs are still being produced, – but only in FAC (above 12 ft/lbs)………. 😉

it is my understanding….
The MVT is the airwolf with the internal Chronograph. It allows you to set you velocities to almost any speed of you choice. It is still available just by special order.
First generation MCT have 16 predetermined velocity settings.
Current MCT have two settings High and Low. On a 40 FPE gun they are listed as 40fpe and 30 fpe. My MCT Real world numbers are 38 FPE and 27 FPE
