Q:

While you’re waiting for your Matadors……..

I thought I would share with you how I coped waiting for my Matadors. It’s a loooong story with a lot to learn. I started this thread back in June 2011 while still waiting, – and oddly enough it became one of the most viewed threads on this forum.

This is how it started:

As it happens, I am the lucky owner of a serious harem of nice guns. And I frequently visit my summerplace on the coast down south in Norway, where weather is the only restriction to my shooting….

Summernights are nice and light with sunset around 22hrs….:

So yesterday I quit Oslo for a few weeks. Fed up with my loooongish waiting for ED and friends to deliver I took 11 members of my harem with me.

Here they are:

As some of you may know, I test and review guns for our Norwegian forum, and this time a comparison of springers is on the agenda….

So go ahead and name them, from left to right…….

And yes. There will be a more in depth test of Lelya 090 who has got new glasses for the occasion…….. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Life is too short to sit put and wait……… ๐Ÿ˜€

Nice Zoco! You are a man of good taste including your air rifles. You are also very smart to migrate south as it gets cold in the north to the Canary Islands.
I know the area well as my grandfather was born in Tenerife and the rest of my grandparents are Spaniards. Very nice retreat indeed! ๐Ÿ˜‰

quote eddieirvine:

Well I do hope you get them and Ed gets something done with his crazy Country!!!

So do I………. ๐Ÿ˜‰

quote eddieirvine:

I am guessing on a nicer day without the rain fishing is good to! !!

If I don’t shoot, I go fishing………..

Favorite occupation besides airguns and women…..

Springtime offers Sea Trout and Salmon, summer mostly cod and of course this:

Provide some fantastic meals…………

And with the island covered by these:

– no need to shop for desserts……… ๐Ÿ˜‰

๐Ÿ˜€

quote oldgoat:

…. I am almost feel ashamed to take a shot under 75 yards. ๐Ÿ˜ณ

You’re such a lucky bastard………

At least you have a Matador to play with………

But Sparrows at 100+ yds …!!!! ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

I wouldn’t even be able to see them at that distance……… ๐Ÿ˜ณ

Age you know……… ๐Ÿ˜‰

But yes, I have heard nothing but good things about the new .25. I am myself not much into that caliber. For me it’s .22 all the way. Almost.

Has to do with difficulty in supply of pellets in this country, – and the fact that there used to be few alternatives that would deliver at high velocities. At least in the guns I have. (Theoben Rapid MK II 50 ft/lbs, DS AirRanger 80)…..

But one of these days may be……. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Well I do hope you get them and Ed gets something done with his crazy Country! makes me like ours a bit better! ๐Ÿ˜ฏ You have some nice travels in your life I could get into that without much resistence if you need some company ๐Ÿ˜† Really looks beautiful the pictures of your place! I am guessing on a nicer day without the rain fishing is good to! and that meal fits me perfect! right down to the wine, I am jealous please let me hang out with you LOL!!

@ Eddie: As said previously this is my summerhouse…..

Home is most likely Oslo, Norway but these days I really don’t spend that much time there……

Now towards the end of the Norwegian summer, I’ll move up into the mountains where I happen to have another little “hide-out”….. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Then mid Sept. I’ll move half way down towards Equator to the Canary Islands where I spend most of the winter…..

Hopefully I’ll receive my Matadors before I go.

Apparently they are now in transit in Germany……

This is what ED wrote to me on Aug 1st:

“Andrey will tell them today to send, based on your approval and as
soon as they do it we will have the tracking number.”

Since then I’ve heard nothing though………… ๐Ÿ™„

Dam Zoco what a nice place! I seen the start of your post here and got busy with some things! so I am guessing you are retired? I can look back on the start of your post but where did you say this place is you are visiting? Where is home?

Yep, It is almost 11 months for me also. I got on the R3 25 cal band wagon when Ed first announced the .25 cal R3s. He has made some major improvements over the R2.5 .25 that I have.

I have done a few tweeks to my .25 and it is shooting really great! In the last week, I have got a 115 and 126 yard kill on the local 13 banded ground squirrels. I try for head shots and their head can almost be covered by a 1″ circle. I got 2 English house sparrows today at 101 yards, 2 shots, 2 kills. These 2 were shot using a tripod. 100 yard shots on vermin have almost become too easy. I am almost feel ashamed to take a shot under 75 yards. ๐Ÿ˜ณ

I will be very impressed if the R3 .25 equals or surpasses the way my R2.5 is shooting right now.

Weather can be painful at times…..:

Under conditions like this I don’t shoot much……….

But I’ve had some nice days in between. And I have played a lot with these two:

The PS Prosport and HW97K, – both cal.22……

Both perform eceptionally well, and again I would have had some serious problems if forced to choose one only.

The shotstring reveals a minor “power advantage” in favor of HW:

But springers are really not my cup of tea…….

PCPs are……..

And sometimes you come across something truly different. Like this little beauty:

More than 70 even shots of approx. 22 ft/lbs (JSB 18) from one fill (200 cc bottle) is veeeery good……..

She has really helped med a lot during this painful wait for my Matadors…..

Approaching 11 months now……….. ๐Ÿ™„

Still waiting……….

More than 10 months now since I paid……….

Guiness book of records ????? ๐Ÿ˜€

๐Ÿ™„

PS: I am familiar with the waiting game…. ๐Ÿ˜‰ :

quote Holdover:

Maybe you could you organize a group buy for everyone on the forum, it would make life a lot simpler and leave us lots more time for shooting ๐Ÿ˜†

Sorry, this is a “one-off” built specially for an old man with a young man’s desires……. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Or did you mean the EVO may be ?

Talking of which and the loading port problem. Look what ED did with his Lelya/Veles concept. You simply drop your pellet into a “canal”. If you point the gun downwards a little, the pellet will slide forward and into the chamber itself. Loading does not get simpler. It works even with gloves on:

I just love this little gem:

But I still want my Matadors………

ED do you hear me….???? ๐Ÿ˜€

Iยดm sorry, but… i cant find the Milk, Sugar and Coffe button… something wrong with the photo?

I am disappointed with you guys. Press “coffee”, – and another submenu appears where you have all the options you want: Espresso, Cortado, Latte, con Leche etc. etc…..

Press “Beer” and options from the submenu includes everything your heart could desire….

The rightmost button has also a submenu. But since this is basically an airgun forum, – I see no need to elaborate further……. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Apparently he likes his coffee (KAFEE) black, like his cameras… ๐Ÿ˜†

Holy crap! ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

Oh, the bottom row of buttons! ๐Ÿ˜† ๐Ÿ˜† ๐Ÿ˜†

You had me going there!!
