Q:

who wants to try to predict the future?

so i received my USED .25 Condor a few days ago and finally had some time to shoot her…

drew around 5 shot groups

OK so my “bench” is a Rubber Made trash can, the bag rests are from Dick’s and i sit on an old speaker….

its 27 frick’n yards!! these Kodiaks should stack!

so i started looking a Little closer…

a little CLOSER…

clip the baffle much?

OK, lets tear it down and see… rattle rattle.

WTF?

pull the Silencer off… rattle rattle.

so, back to the title… who wants to try to predict tomorrows groups?

got 500 more 18grain and 600x 25grain JSBs on the way

cant say for sure when i can do any more testing, but i will follow up on the supersonic side along with the “(any) JSB pellet shoots GREAT” path.

think ill start with:
– pushing the 18’s as hard as this rig can and see (if) where they destabilize.
– try the 25grain MONSTERS
– then try to come up with a “safe” way to get the crony down range

EDIT:

i can go anywhere up to about 70 yards rather easily, should i ditch the 27yard stump and set up a 50 and 70?

(suggestions welcome)

.

It will be interesting to see if the JSBs are the supersonic pellet of choice. It would be interesting to see how long they stay SS. Maybe start with the chrony at 20 yards….

Will be interesting to see what those JSBs do at 50 yards and over at those speeds!
I just tried some JSB Exact Kings that Picudo sent me.
Very cold here(-3c) and I shot them at about 1070fps. Got a crack every time. They group well at 40 yards… 😯
Gotta get a chance to stretch them out…..

quote Jerry:

Thanks for posting the full chart, that gives a much better idea than just one group. That is pretty impressive that at the 1100+ range the JSBs grouped so well and then the groups got worse at lower speeds.

It’s time to stretch out to 100 yards to get some more info on how well they do long range.

i REALLY want to caution you (all) about drawing any conclusions just yet.

like i said i was rushing and COLD near the end
i haven’t even shot 100 pellets through this barrel yet

ALSO

my test equipment isn’t exactly… uuummm well, it’s pretty jerry-rigged 😛

thats 30 shots with NO re-fills.

2500 psi start PW: -0-
dry fired 4-6 till i could hear the valve was opening

i THINK group 5 and 6 were down in the mid/low 900’s
about 1/2 way into group #3 there were no more CRACKs

BUT

it was getting COLD and the wife wanted me “IN for DINNER” ASAP around group 4 so i was rushing a bit.

.

WOW!! that’s cool man glad to see your getting er down and dirty like that… you and rj-porter are the only one apparently that have done it. will the groups stay like that under 1100.

I have not tried the jsb’s at over 1000 yet.

.

finally found 30 min to shoot…

went through about 30 or so .22 Kodiaks trying to break this barrel in.

just for grins & giggles i thought id shoot a few groups of JSB Heavies (18g) to see how fast they were going to go.

CRACK! (1120)
CRACK! (1118)
CRACK! (1106)
CRACK! (1111)
CRACK! (1102)

BAM!!

(27 yards) 😯 😯 😯 😯 😯

guess these things dont know they arnt supposed to be this accurate @ these speeds

.

Machine oil makes sense… Virgin? Who sticks around to look at the sheets? What with the gunfire and screaming and all…..

.

it was sold as a “never shot barrel” so im assuming its machining “lube” and or rust inhibitor from the factory.

…….

what did your sheets look like when you broke in your virgin? 😛

EDIT:

interesting; the difference between the .25 (LEFT) and the .22 (RIGHT)

its an optical illusion (digital photography doesn’t help) the .22 is NOT bigger, just closer to the camera.

.

Good point, why are the patches brown and not gray?

Man, those patches look Nasty! Looks like you had to wipe it’s ass. 😆

Shot slicker than owl shit after though! 😉

To bad you did’nt get those from the .25 barrel that came with it. I’m sure you’ll be very pleased with the next .25 barrel coming your way!!!

.

well, i think im narrowing in on what the weak link is on this gun…

got a “virgin” .22cal 24″ barrel off the classifieds here.

ran a few patches through it before i installed it and shot a few groups.

LOL IMADMAN, #5 is 3/8″ CtC (@ 27 yards .22 Kodiaks) exactly as you predicted. 😀

i didnt get to crony anything (will do this Holiday weekend)
but i did blow a few 14 grain CPs through it just to hear the CRACK (of the sound barrier) 2500psi PW: 1

😆 😆 I bet shes a lovely girl at heart. And as a bonus, she’ll suck ya plumbs for 20 bucks…

I’ll take a $100 worth! 😯

BTW, is there any space between those who sell their dignity and those who buy it?

just enough for the KY/spit/Astro-Lube and (hopefully) some latex 😉
