Q:

who wants to try to predict the future?

so i received my USED .25 Condor a few days ago and finally had some time to shoot her…

drew around 5 shot groups

OK so my “bench” is a Rubber Made trash can, the bag rests are from Dick’s and i sit on an old speaker….

its 27 frick’n yards!! these Kodiaks should stack!

so i started looking a Little closer…

a little CLOSER…

clip the baffle much?

OK, lets tear it down and see… rattle rattle.

WTF?

pull the Silencer off… rattle rattle.

so, back to the title… who wants to try to predict tomorrows groups?

Dry breech O-ring

that is the case, (no diver’s lube yet)

BUT

its waaaay more than that:

the breech hits the top hat.
the breech “sags” down and to the left so i as i put pressure on the breech knob (to close it) with my right hand, i need to use my left thumb to push the breech “up and to the right” to get the hole in the breech even close to lined up with the TopHat… so all this is going on long before the topHat gets anywhere near the (dry) O-ring.

sigh

let me try to get a picture or video

I’ve noticed allot of talk about “pellets traveling too fast” and I was wondering if there are any “stickies” or any topics, sites, etc. that offers the “IDEAL” pellet speed for any particular pellet.

“Ideally” speaking, wouldn’t you want the highest velocity as long as you do not break the sound barrier???? This is what I have tried for trying to get the most fpe without exceeding the speed of sound.

For example, my AAA .25 is pushing the new JSB 25.4 gr pellets around 1100 fps. This yields nearly 70 fpe. At this speed I managed 3/8″ groups at 25 yards, and a 2 3/8″ 100 yard group. Please chime in and direct me to any info on ideal pellet speeds for specific pellets. Thanks.

well i got a few tins of the BIG (43 grain) EunJin .25 pellets, and Jamie was right… they don’t fit (without A LOT of effort) in this barrel.
and once i got it in, it took 2x shots to get it out. (PW: 1 , 2500psi)
(i know this isnt the right setting for this pellet, just telling what happed.)

anyone else use these in their Condor?

another question(able thing about this gun) after loading a pellet, when closing the breech, does it (self) align with the TopHat or does it need some help?
mine will NOT “close” over the TopHat without a fair amount of effort (pushing “up and to the right”) to align it.

Dry breech O-ring

Maybe when the damage was done to the end of the shroud the gun got bent… or when someone tried to bend it back they went too far. Or the threads that hold the valve/bottle to the gun are not square. Having to force the breech can’t be good for anything and needs to be fixed first.

It should go straight back and fit easily over the tophat. Shouldn’t take any work at all.

I and many others have used the 43g eun jins without a problem. However, not every barrel is made equal. The crow magnum for example, is loose in some people’s barrels.

Does the gun seem bent at all?

Clipping sucks. I know I had that problem once. I wonder if YN still has the picture where I tore a hunk out of the shroud he made me from cranking the set screw down too much. 🙂 🙂 🙂

Hope you get it worked out soon. It sucks not having a working gun, trust me, I know…

.

yes, i did strip it all down.

cleaned out the frame, clear taped the bushings for a nice snug fit while installing the barrel, ran about 15 patches through the barrel, the first 3 with Goo-Gone.

the groups were @ the same PW setting (5) and 2700psi

i really need to get some heavier pellets… get’m down around 875-925

i’ll try to lower the power and shoot some 800-900 fps groups tomorrow as well as a few without the shroud.

just came back from HomeDepot, cant find DRY Silicone 🙁

the only DRY lube i found was “TDL Blaster with PTFE”

.

What FPS were the groups shot at? Maybe to high of a velocity? Did you strip the rifle down clean and re-lube?

.

that plastic came from inside the shroud.

(i could feel Tony wince as i stuck my finger in there to fish it out… his “spider sense” goes off when one of his parts get violated)

anyway,

i got a little time today so i: set up the crony, shot 15x 5 shot groups @ 27 yards and tried it without the shroud.

should i say, i tried it ONCE without the shroud… OMFG this thing is LOUD without it!! IMO too loud and as much as i want to shoot without it, i dont want the cops @ my door only 3 months after i moved here.
maybe tomorrow if i hear the guy down the street shoot’n (what i assume is) his .22 , all i know is it ain’t no pellet gun.

i started to rotate the shroud after the first few groups didnt show any improvement over yesterdays. id guess i turned it about 20-30 degrees each group… here is the best i came up with for today (out of 15x 5 shot groups)

“benched” gun , 27 yards

then i set up the crony and shot 3x 20 shot strings.
i shot @ a 3/4″ thick MDF @ 65 yards:

Since the gun is new to you, try to live with the noise for a bit and shoot some groups without the shroud. That’ll give you a true benchmark of what the gun is capable of in it’s current config.

Shrouds are often the problem (clipping), but it’s better to drill down to the basics before wasting hours futzing around with shroud adjustments that may not be necessary in the first place.

Shoot naked and see what happens, then take it from there. 😉

quote r60us:

Where is that grommet from?

I could tell you but then “I KILL You!”

Where is that grommet from?

I had a similar thing happen with a shroud that I made for myself. I wound up taking out the rubber grommets entirely. I think what happens is this…….

After you fire the shroud chamber (SC) has all that pressure in side it expanding then the air is forced back out and then the air escapes SC contracts vacuuming the rubber grommets out of there seated position. then clipping starts.

After a day of shooting with my newly shrouded condor I had found this Rubber grommet on the ground. I knew it was not there when I arrived. But at the time I would not believe it was from my rifle. Then the inaccuracy started So I removed the shroud, shot it a few times everything was fine.
I then looked into my shroud and saw the grommets had started dislodging.
so I pulled the grommets out reseated the chamber and every thing is great.

now you have done it. you have pissed all over tony…

just kidding, hope those groups clear up for ya.
