Why bother with .25
I cannot reason with something…why is the .25 caliber more popular as a mod than the .22?
I thought about it for quite a while and heres what i think: If you want more “stopping power” for between the calibers….22 or .25 ???????
I want power, so id like a bigger caliber, but isnt it the same if i use the original .22 barrel and just go for heavier bullets?
The smaller diameter of the bullets makes less wind resistance with the same weight, it also penetrates better into due to size, it tumbles more once it hits and hence makes more damage. Or so i see it….
Isnt this why the AA went from 7.62 to 5.56 caliber?
I still want the .25 caiber one day, but for now it seems to me that the .22 condor with a bulet of the same weight than the .25 bullet will do the same job better – its faster, smaller bullet means less trouble in wind.
Or is the air flow “bigger”? Is the valve on the .25 also different than on the .22?
Id love to hear from you guys cause for me it does not make sence 🙄

For the amount it would cost to buy another, the enjoyment had would far outway the cost 😀
Saying that, I’m gonna retry the old .25 barrel but push the kodiaks in the low 900 fps and see if that tightens things up…..

Tried that.
It was loose at both ends.. 😕 (Well, not exactly loose but you know what I mean. Poly barrel seems more the shape inside rather than actual rifling)
You might push a pellet through and see if you feel a choke at the wrong end.

Did you ever figure out if that barrel had been machined at the right end?

You NEED another .25 barrel! What with the valve maker you have access to, a properly machined and installed .25 is bound to bring you joy. And isn’t that what this is all about? 😆

Iv’e shot cottontail with 6 FPE and skenco saboted copper pellets for complete passthrough at 15 yards. Double lung, he didn’t go anywhere.

As newbie to the site and airguns, but not guns, I think it comes down to what you are shooting. You can shoot a prairie dog with a .50 BMG, but all you will get is a 1/2 hole. Shoot it with a Vmax in a .17 to .224 and you can get the red mist. You need to figure out what you want to kill, and what best to kill it with. LIke stated above, if you are only popping rabbits, then there is no reason to go to a .25, unless you want to pop them long range and need the extra BC to get there with accuracy. I think it would be interesting and helpful to see a chart or something with fpe needed or recommended for taking different animals, as well as skull penetration fpe.
.25 is better.

You make your own decision but the smaller .22 is more accurate at shorter range and has a flatter trajectory at least with powder but the larger caliber has more hitting power with better range.
